The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 184 - Treasures

"RETREAT!" Zeng Wu shouted loudly so everyone could hear it.

"Retreat!" x3

Right after his shout, three other shouts simultaneously came out as well. One of them came from Shi Clan's side, second from the Ma clan while the third from Hyson's group.

The Red Legion soldiers followed the normal protocol and backed up slowly while fighting off the creature's barrage. Clanking noise came from all around the hall as the humans blocked the incoming creature's attacks.

Hao Xuan was already angry about having to retreat just a few minutes after he had shouted "No retreat" to the entire hall when a smaller creature saw an opportunity when he was distracted and attacked him from behind.

It had two daggers attached to the bone fragments on both sides, which it used to try to cut Hao Xuan's head off.

Zeng Wu saw the creature from the corner of his eye and tried to interfere, but as if working in tandem, several other creatures rushed up to him and started attacking crazily, not even giving him an opportunity to warn Hao Xuan.

But as the creature lunged towards Hao Xuan's back in one swift motion, his head turned towards the creature as if moved by an outside force and his face contorted in anger when he saw it. An ear-piercing hiss rang right next to the creature's ears.

*SSsssss*

Black and White's bodies glowed brightly with the same colors as their skins and flames surrounded Hao Xuan from head to toe.

"SCREAAAACH"

The creature was burned to ashes within a few seconds.

but the fire didn't stop there. With Hao Xuan as the center, the fire turned into a giant pillar and erupted up and outwards.

"AHH" the soldiers around Hao Xuan shouted in surprise and backed up, afraid of getting burned, but it was too late. They were too close to him and the fire wave was coming too quickly.

*Wooosh*

As the soldiers closed their eyes readying themselves for the incoming pain, like a cool breeze the fire passed right through them without any effects. The creatures, on the other hand, didn't have such an experience.

Shrill screams were heard from every place the fire passed through. The smaller ones were burned to a crisp within a few seconds, while the larger ones were rolling on the ground in pain, trying to put out the fire, but to no avail.

No matter what they did, the fire stuck to their bodies like maggots.

The Ma and Shi clan folk were watching from the sides. They exchanged looks with one another before coming to the same realization.

"Spiritual Fire!" Ma Yu exclaimed from the sidelines.

Hao Xuan heard her voice and looked at her, confused. He was just angry and wanted to kill all the creatures around him, Black and White did the rest on their own. He had no idea what it was.

The fire kept the other creatures back and gave the group enough time to back out of the hall safely. Not that there would have been a problem without it. None of the soldiers had used any techniques or abilities and these creatures were only using physical attacks. The only thing going for the creatures was their numbers.

"Go Go!" Zeng Yu shouted when he saw some people standing near the stone door.

Everyone backed up several dozen meters. Zeng Yu lifted up his hand and a small ball of crimson light appeared in his palm. He inserted some Qi into it before throwing it at the door.

*BOOOOOOM*

The surroundings shook as the crimson light exploded upon impact with the stone door. The entire front end of the structure collapsed and the entrance was sealed with tons and tons of stone.

Even for them, it would take several hours if they wanted to dig their way back in, so suffice it to say, it wouldn't be an easy feat for the creatures.

*Rrrrrng*

The white katana in Shi Chun's hand started vibrating incessantly. Hao Xuan looked at the blade with furrowed brows and couldn't understand why it hated him so much.

One of the old men saw this and patted Shi Chun's shoulder, "Put it away." Shi Chun wanted to hold the blade for a bit longer but seeing the old man's glare he quickly stored it away.

The old man then looked at Hao Xuan meaningfully and gave a slight bow. Hao Xuan was confused by this sudden show of respect but still returned the bow so as not to seem rude.

"Oi oi, I've been looking all over for you guys. Can you not forget me like this please? I thought I was abandoned," Jin Wang's lazy voice came from the entrance of the crack, attracting everyone's attention.

Zeng Yu stepped forward and seemed like he had quite a lot to say, but Hao Xuan's angry voice came out first.

"Where the hell have you been? While we were fighting, you were walking around enjoying the scenery huh? It's okay, you can tell me," Hao Xuan said with a smile, but his words and facial expressions did not match at all.

Jin Wang made an exaggerated face like he was being bullied, "I was looking for treasures! For the kingdom! And this is what I get for my hard work?"

"Treasures?" the princess who was standing behind Hyson interjected.

Jin Wang smiled at her proudly, as if he was waiting for someone to ask, "Mhm. Treasures! I found a bunch of buildings all over the place. They look similar to that blown up place behind you," he pointed at the collapsed structure.

"There are more? How many did you find?" Zeng Yu asked skeptically.

"Three, but there are probably more. It's easy to find them if you know where to look," Jin Wang grinned.

"Alright enough. Take us to the nearest one," Hao Xuan waved his hand when he saw Jin Wang trying to be mysterious.

"My pleasure, but I get 10% commission since I found them," Jin Wang nodded and then held up all ten of his fingers.

"Shut the hell up.. You work for the military! Commission my ass!" Hao Xuan yelled in anger.
