The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 112 - Business

Hao Xuan changed into some jeans and a white shirt before going to meet Sixth. He had sent him the location of a restaurant in the western area of the city.

The western side held many beautiful sceneries and was a very popular scenic spot. There was a ten-kilometer long strip of malls and hotels so it was the go-to spot for families and couples or basically anyone looking to have a fun night out.

He used Emperor's Arrival to move faster and arrived in the area within 30 minutes or so.

"Wow, this seems like a completely different place," Hao Xuan was looking around like a villager that had never seen an urban area before.

Because in most of the other areas of the city, the buildings were like the ones found in old Chinese movies. The streets were extremely wide and there were giant pavilions and old-school courtyards everywhere. There were no tall buildings, at least not many.

But this place was like a metropolitan city on its own. It reminded him of Tokyo from earth, or what he remembered from the videos and pictures since he had never left the town he was born in.

The entire area was littered with hundreds of meters tall skyscrapers.

He walked into a slightly deserted alley and summoned Green and Red.

"Here, take this and buy yourselves a few things. Get some storage rings, spirit bands, and any other essentials. And buy some suits for yourselves. The best money can buy. You're with me now. I Can't have you looking like beggars," Hao Xuan said while taking off his own Spirit band and throwing it to them.

Usually, only the owner of the band would be able to use it, with the only exception being the summoned creatures and slaves that had their souls under the control of their masters. Even if they wanted to do something bad, it wouldn't be possible. And even though Green and Red weren't his slaves, their souls were still connected to his so it was enough to fool the bands and use one another's.

They silently bowed and walked off with huge steps.

He stepped out of the alley and got back up on the main road to observe the surroundings. It really was too similar to some of the places back on earth and looking around he felt a bit homesick.

There were thousands of people walking around. There even seemed to be some groups wearing similar uniforms which confused him.

"Are there normal schools here too? Well, there should be, for the mortals at least," he thought looking at them.

It was about 12 p.m and the sun was shining brightly. It was almost the end of January so it was still cold. But he could barely feel anything even with the single cotton shirt he had on. It was one of the advantages of the cultivation world. At higher realms, cultivators could walk on lava and sleep in freezing tundras without a worry in the world so this was nothing much.

He followed the crowd and walked for a good 15 minutes before reaching his objective.

Since arriving in the Beast world, this was the first time he saw some of the vehicles he so dearly wanted.

There were three of them parked outside a restaurant. Two looked like the old Alto cars from earth, instead only smaller and somehow less attractive. The other one was like a scooter.

".....is it just me or do they look worse than I expected?" he mumbled while staring at them with a frown.

"Hahaha, what do you think? Beautiful isn't it? Jealous? You're jealous, aren't you? Its fine, I can take it, hahaha" said a husky voice from the entrance of the restaurant where a few youngsters were standing. All of them were well dressed and anyone could tell at first glance that they came from rich backgrounds.

The owner of the voice was a slightly chubby man that had gold ornaments on for some reason. He looked like someone that had just come into a bit of money and was keen to show it off.

He walked up to one of the cars and lovingly patted its roof before looking at Hao Xuan with a grin, "What do you think? Awesome isn't it? You don't look half bad so if you follow me and become my servant, I can think about giving you a ride," he said while closing his eyes and waiting for an answer.

One of the guys behind him suddenly came forward, "Boss is so magnanimous. Hurry up and bow before he changes his mind. You should know that not just anyone could get such an offer from our great boss," he looked at Hao Xuan with a smile, as if doing him a great favor.

Hao Xuan, on the other hand, was speechless. He was just thinking this "thing" looked hideous and now this fatass wanted him to become his servant to get a 'chance' to ride it?

"I wouldn't be caught dead in this thing. Get the hell out of my way. Retards," he gave them a disdainful look and walked past them, entering the restaurant.

The fatass who was standing next to the car acted like he had heard the most unbelievable thing in the world and put his hand over his heart in an exaggerated manner.

"Wha- How dare you! I lower myself to invite you from the kindness of my heart and this is how you treat me?!" he shouted at Hao Xuan's back but with a couple of steps he was already out of sight.

"Don't worry boss, we will bring him in front of you and make him beg for forgiveness!" the man behind the fatass shouted and left with several of the other ones.

Hao Xuan didn't pay them any attention and continued walking. He entered the elevator and pressed the button for the 8th floor. That's where Sixth was.

Lois was born in a small town in Texas, US. She was 17 years old when she along with her mother and younger brother were transported over to the Beast World. She, who was the most popular girl in her high school, felt oddly out of place in this new reality.

Ever since coming here she had tried many different things but couldn't find anything that interested her. Fortunately for her, she was absolutely stunning. She had long blond hair and green eyes. She was a cheerleader in high school so naturally, her body shape was considered to be ideal by most.

Even back on earth she had been propositioned by several modeling agencies but didn't want to put herself through the trouble. The rumors about 'that' world were enough to scare her through and through.

She had joined a mortal school in this world and graduated with flying colors. She was good with numbers and they made sense to her so following that school of through, she joined a business college in Fortuna city.

Her first semester exams had just ended and she along with her four classmates wanted to have some fun so they set up a group date with some boys from nearby schools.

Sixth was a childhood friend of one of the boys that was invited to the get-together and they were short one guy so naturally he was invited to fill the spot, even though he was younger than all of them by at least 1-2 years.

His childhood friend's name was Peter and he knew Sixth was in the Red Legion, just not that he was a captain. Ever since they were kids Sixth loved fighting so this was just nature taking its course.

"Haha, mortal girls are so pretty, I'm always busy with work so I never have time to go out. I've never even been on a date even though I'm almost 18, can you believe that?" Sixth said with fake tears in his eyes.

To the girls, he was more like a younger brother than a love interest so they treated him as such.

"Aww, poor you. Do you want me to set you up with my cousin? She's the same age as you," said one of the girls taking pity on him.

All of the girls were very pretty but Lois was in a league of her own. She was sitting in the corner staring out the window.

"Hehehe, if she is half as pretty as older sister then I'm looking forward to it," Sixth laughed sheepishly while scratching his head.

The group burst into laughter looking at the sudden change in his behavior.

"Oh, by the way, when is your friend getting here?" she asked after a few seconds. Sixth got the call in front of them so everyone knew there was another person coming.

"He should be here any second. Something tells me you guys will like him," he smiled knowingly.

"And why is that? Is it someone famous? What does he do?" another girl asked curiously.

"He is in the military, same as me. But he never really enjoys himself, always cultivating or out on missions. You'll know when you see him. Don't forget about me when you see him okay?" he said with puppy dog eyes.

"Oi! You! Stop right there! How dare you disrespect boss Shu like that?" a loud voice cut in from across the hall. There was a group of men surrounding someone while shouting.

"What's going on? Who are they?" Lois asked curiously peering at the commotion.

One of the boys shook his head looking at them and explained, "Just some thugs. Their boss is a minor character around here. Who's the poor kid getting beaten up this time?"

There were a few dozen people in the hall and all of them stopped what they were doing and turned around to see the play. It was free entertainment so no one wanted to step in, especially since it wasn't their problem.

"These bastards, didn't they learn the last time I taught them a lesson?!" Sixth who was relaxing with the group suddenly stood up angrily.

"You know them?" Peter asked with furrowed brows. Was Sixth gonna fight again?

"Don't make more trouble. Just let them do what they came here for and they will be gone in a minute or so," he stopped Sixth when he started walking towards them.

"Make trouble? Me? They are the ones doing it," Sixth was getting angrier the more he talked.

"Stil-" Peter wanted to argue but a voice cut him off.

"Are you actually retarded? The hell is wrong with you people? And don't touch me, I don't want to get 'stupid' on my shirt," the nonchalant voice came from behind the men.

"Eh? Ninth brother?" Sixth was surprised to hear the voice.

He looked at his Spirit band and called Hao Xuan but didn't get a reply.

'Is it really him? If so, THIS IS BAD! What if he gets angry and starts eating people,' he thought inwardly and tried to walk towards them but Peter was still holding him back.

"Stupid! Let go before something bad happens!" he said while trying to free himself but the harder he tried, the more Peter held him back.

"Listen, moron, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, you're not gonna ruin it," he whispered into Sixth's ear, referring to the group date.

"Dumbass, if that is who I think it is, you're gonna be lucky if you can leave with your limbs still attached to your body," Sixth replied with gritted teeth, but it was too late.

"You have 3 seconds to get out of my sight.. I'm in a good mood today so leave before I change my mind," the voice said once again, surprising everyone in the hall.
