The Cursed King

Chapter 170 - Alex Gets A Date!

Elise pointed to a photo. "Oh, this guy is cute."

"Not really my type… what about him?" Alex shook her head and pointed at another profile.

"Hmmm, I don't know. His bio doesn't make him seem like someone you'd match with in the long run." Elise shook her head.

"But he is cute!!"

"Hahaha... you want a date, not an arm candy, right?" Elise raised an eyebrow.

"If I wanted to just sleep with someone for a one-night stand, I'd pick him." Alex laughed a little.

"What? Are you serious?" Elise's eyes bulged when she heard Alex's blunt words.

Her face heated up because she couldn't imagine that Alex would say such a thing. "I thought you wanted to date someone and maybe potentially marry them in the future?"

"I know, but sometimes, you feel a little lonely and just need someone to spend the cold night away. Not that I recommend that. I'm really glad you found someone like Loriel. He's really one of a kind. "

Alex would sometimes swipe left, then right. There were so many handsome guys on the app but having too many choices didn't make the search any easier.

"There will be someone like Loriel, or someone who matches well with you." Elise said with a blush. Elise couldn't help but agree with Alex's assessment that her soon-to-be-husband was an amazing man.

Elise hoped that Alex would find someone for her. She really like her boss and wanted to see her happy too.

"The men here on the app do seem decent, but I need to go look for some more," Alex explained as she continued to go through the profiles. "It's like finding a needle in the haystack."

"I'm sure you'll find someone that will catch your eye," Elise smiled. "Keep looking."

"We will see, I need to find someone who doesn't mind my work-life schedule. It's a little doubtful, but as you said, I need to put myself out there." Alex took a deep breath and resolved herself to continue checking so many profiles on the app.

Elise thought about making Loriel talk with Marc about this kind of situation. It wasn't fair that Alex never got the chance to relax and enjoy herself because she was so focused on work.

She thought it was Marc's fault for working Alex to the bone that she didn't have a life outside of work. Now that she thought of it, Elise's work was very easy compared to Alex's. She suspected that this might have something to do with Loriel.

"Oh, hey, I have a match." Alex gushed in surprise. Her eyes lit up when she looked at Elise. "And he already sent me a message. And he is cute!"

"Really? That's exciting! It's your chance, Alex. You must chat with him now," Elise smiled. "I got you covered with the work in case Marc comes in. Go on!"

"That's very unlikely of him, but thank you!" Alex paid attention to her phone and started chatting with her potential date.

Elise didn't want to pry into it and instead allowed Alex to take care of it herself, instead she continued to look at the mood boards while also accomplishing the work they had for today.

There weren't many tasks given to either her and Alex which was strange, but Elise was more than happy for the free time.

She was unaware that it was Marc who was the one taking care of the work he usually assigned to Alex. But his grand-uncle requested that both Alex and Elise be free to have enough time to plan the wedding.

Loriel couldn't help but be excited for when it would finally happen.

"Elise…" Alex surprised her with a suddenly anxious voice.

Elise's eyes widened and she turned to Alex. "What is it? Is something wrong? What's the matter, Alex? Was the guy a jerk?"

"He asked me out on a date for tomorrow night." Alex was smiling ear to ear. "He seemed like a really nice guy. What do you think?"

"What do I think about what?"

"Should I go?"

"Of course! You should go!"

"But, isn't it too fast? We just started talking today. He already asked to meet me tomorrow."

"That means he is serious with you," Elise said. "You should go."

Alex sighed. She bit her lip and was deep in thought for a moment. Then she nodded. "All right. I'll say yes."

"Good!!" Elise smiled broadly when she saw Alex went back to her phone and typed in her reply.

"I said yes," Alex closed her phone and touched Elise's arm. "We are going on a date!!"

"Oh my gosh. I'm so happy for you," Elise gave Alex a huge hug. "What's his name? What work does he do? What kind of man is he? He's so forward if he asked you out for a date tonight. That's amazing."

"Haha, I know." Alex said, but then cleared her throat. "Elise, I'm really nervous to go out tomorrow. I can't do this alone. What if I embarrass myself? I can't imagine the shame and mortification I'll experience. I need you to be with me."

"Huh? Why?" Elise blinked in surprise. "It's your date."

"I need a way to get out in case I make a fool out of myself, or if I want to get out because this man is not someone I want to spend the rest of the night with," Alex explained. "Could you please do it for me?"

"Well…"

"I'll only ask this for you, just once."

"Fine," Elise hit Alex on the shoulder jokingly. "I am doing it only this once since you're helping me with the wedding."

"Oh, thank you so much! You're the best, Elise!!" Alex hugged Elise excitedly.

Elise knew that this was Alex's chance to be happy and also go out and relax.. It would also be a chance for Elise to repay the favor that Alex was doing by having her help out with the wedding preparations.
