Chapter 723 - Taking Control

Chapter 723 – Taking Control

"…"

A pin drop silence engulfed the hall.

No one dared to breathe, hell they didn't even dare to blink their eyes. If possible they would have stopped their hearts from beating as well.

The people were terrified.

Terrified by the words spoken in this hall.

"What did you say?" Hank looked at Old man Sun with wide eyes,

"Hahaha!!!" The next second his laughter rang across the hall. He was the only one laughing. Nobody could find this situation funny except for him.

Well, there was one other, but Naze just controlled his laughter. This situation was very interesting for him to watch while Max just calmly observed everything.

He knew that the old man was unbeatable in this place. But, he obviously didn't hope for things to proceed in such a manner which would result in unnecessary conflicts.

If the old man just straight up went and murdered Talia without any words, a war would occur. Other Houses would get involved as well. What would the old man do then? Kill everyone?

Hence, Max was hoping that the old man still hadn't lost his reasoning.

"You want to kill me? Just you?" Hank asked as his laughter died down, replaced by a menacing look on his face.

"What are you doing? Didn't I ask you to leave?" The Old man looked at the Grand Elder. He had clearly ignored Hank which only infuriated him even more.

"You are looking for death!" Hank roared in anger.

"Crackle!"

Blood red lightning burst through his body, and it didn't seem to differentiate between people. Except for Patriarch Yule, he didn't take anyone's life into consideration.

"Bang!"

The Old man finally made a move as well, he couldn't stand and look while the Hank killed innocent people.

His energy erupted, and in a second, it countered every stand of lightning which Hank had released. At the same time, he had already left his seat, and arrived in front of Hank.

His fist headed straight for Hank's gut, but Hank reacted and immediately retreated. He really was startled by the Old man's sudden show of strength. He naturally didn't think that the Old man was on the same level as him.

Hank made the retreat, but the Old man didn't chase him. Instead, he changed the trajectory of his fist and it landed on Patriarch Yule and a hole was blasted through his body as he collapsed onto the floor.

It happened so quickly that nobody had the time to react. Before they knew, the Patriarch was dead.

"You won't get away with this!!" Hank's face turned ugly when he realized that he had failed to protect Patriarch Yule.

The next instant, he charged at the old man once again while drawing his blade out.

"Crackle!"

The Old man tilted his head to the side as the Blade came piercing towards his face in a vicious manner.

As soon as he dodged the blade, he immediately grabbed onto Hank's arm, completely ignoring the lightning armor, and with a strong swing, he sent him flying into the sky through the hole in the roof.

"Clean this mess up, I will return in a while.." The old man looked at the Elders and then flew out of the hole in the roof as well.

It was very obvious where he was going.

Max who looked at the entire scene and felt a bit relieved.

The old man could have definitely killed that guy with one move, but he didn't. Instead, he chose to hide his strength. It meant that he wasn't just acting like barbarian, he had something in his mind.

It was obvious that they couldn't just call Demons out in the public when most people weren't even clearly aware of their identity. And, on top of that, it was almost impossible to differentiate between a Royal Blood Demon and a normal human.

Even if there was some method, it definitely wasn't a simple process.

So, where were they supposed to go and ask Scarlet Lord to give his wife to them so they could test if she was Demon or not?

It sounded ridiculous in itself.

As if he would allow that.

It would enrage every person, the entire upper society.

"Let's go.." Max muttered as he looked at Naze.

The two of them sneaked into the Old man's house waiting for him to return.

They could clearly feel the clashes occurring in the distance, and a few minutes later, it died down.

It was obvious the battle was over.

….

An hour later…

"You are finally here?" Max looked at the old man, and sighed. "You shouldn't have killed the Patriarch.."

The Old man had returned to the House an hour ago, but it had taken him time to get everything under control.

The real mess would begin tomorrow morning when the news would be out.

"He was just a pawn. We wouldn't find anything through him." The Old man shook his head.

"Even so, we should have been able to make him speak against Talia. It was fine if it didn't do any harm to her, but that dent in her reputation and suspicion in people's heart would still have been sweet." Max really felt it was a pity.

"Anyway, what have you thought of now?" He further asked while looking at the old man.

"Take back what is mine," The Old man calmly replied, "I created all of this territory, I will take it back now."

Max frowned a bit, "It is not going to be easy.."

He could already see a lot of resistance, and trouble in the future.

"I have a better suggestion for you.." Max said as he looked at him. He had to make sure this didn't go in the way that would cause disaster for Humans.

"What is it?" The Old man asked curiously.

"The Artifact….how about you make Wielder as the Lord of the Territory. I mean, the person will be your student."

The Old man contemplated a bit, and then nodded. "It sounds good to me.."

This was his life's goal after all. The territory was just something which was made to act as a support for the wielder.

Max smiled.

He was sure the old man would accept this proposal, and if he didn't he just had to say that the Wielder was his own descendant. There was no way he would be able to refuse then.. But, it seemed that wasn't even needed.
