The Ancient Genes

Chapter 614 - Mother And Son

"She is here as well…." Lear muttered with a sigh as he looked at his mother along with Lora and the other ladies. Max had sent her pictures so he obviously identified her at first glance.

And, to be honest, his face was turning nasty seeing those guys trying to hit on his mother. But, luckily they were in a group so it wasn't much of a problem to deal with idiots.

"What are you looking for, little brother?"

A voice sounded from behind, and Lear's eyes immediately flashed with a chilling look in them.

"I thought you wouldn't dare to show up after running away like that the last time," Lear said with a laugh as he turned around to look at Arnold standing there.

"Well, it was just the right use of strategy. After all, a bigger fist doesn't always win." Arnold slightly smiled as he looked at Lear. Orca had won after all.

"But, a bigger fist will hurt like hell. And, can make people use the 'runaway' strategy." Lear said with a smile, and the people standing near them couldn't control their laughter and began to giggle.

Arnold's face turned a bit dark, but he just laughed it off. 'Let's see how long you will have that cocky look on his face.'

"What are you guys talking about?" A cheerful voice sounded as Arthur came towards them with a smile on his face.

The three brothers were all together now.

"Nothing, I was just discussing some philosophy with Second brother…" Lear said with a smile as he looked at the guy.

"Well, I have to say that we are walking down the opposite path…...in philosophy." Arnold looked at Lear with a menacing look in his eyes. He still didn't know what the reason behind Lear's hostility was. But, there was a chance that the guy had sniffed something on him.

It seemed he would have to take care of him soon too. Not to mention, the guy was rapidly rising in popularity which wasn't a good thing for him.

"You guys enjoy, I will go and look for my friends." Lear smiled at Arthur as he turned around and walked away.

"Well, I am a bit excited...does this make me evil?" Max sighed as he stood on the top of a house looking at the moon.

"You really can joke at any time..." Caira beside him shook her, speechless at the guy.

...

"How are you guys doing?"

Lear finally came to the group of girls after roaming around for a while.

"Are you talking about all of us or just a specific one?" Rias asked with a teasing smile making everyone laugh.

"Obviously everyone," Lear had a thick face as well. Not to mention, he was storing all the negative emotion for a single guy.

"Let me introduce her, she is Lesia. Your biggest fan." Lora was obviously feeling embarrassed with people teasing her. But, when her eyes felt on Lesia and she saw her fidgeting like that she couldn't help herself.

It was clear how much she just wanted to hug her child.

Lear smiled at Lora, before looking towards his mother. An odd atmosphere suddenly enveloped the two. Both wanted to say it out, but they had to hold it back because it wasn't the right time.

"Hello.." Lesia looked at Lear with those loving eyes of a mother as she put her hand forward.

Lear could feel the slight trembling on her hand, and emotions overcame him. But, he controlled himself and just nodded to her while holding her hand with both of his hands and tightening his grasp on her.

Only he knew how he was holding himself back. Even though he acted as trash back then, it was a fact that his mother loved him the most. And, in all that time, he had never left her side.

Lora slightly put her hand behind Lear's back. She could feel what he was going through.

Her gesture immediately woke Lear up, and he let go of that hand. "Thank you for your support. I would surely like to have a nice talk with you if an opportunity arises."

"Excuse me for a moment," Lesia said to them, as she used the excuse of using the washroom to get away. She was no less emotional than Lear after all.

"Are you fine?" Lora whispered to Lear as she stood beside him.

"Yes, I am." Lear nodded. "I will be better if you cheer me up."

"And, how do I do that?" She asked, looking at him.

"I don't know, think about something. How about a consoling hug?" Lear looked at her with raised brows. Who could say that the idiot was close to crying earlier?

"Yeah, in your dreams." Lora shook her head.

The group then began to chat.

Lear even asked Lora to come along with him for a bit, but Lora refused. She wasn't going to do that. If her father arrived earlier, and saw her like that only god knew what he would do. So, it was better for her mother to arrive first and then she might consider to even stand alone with Lear. Otherwise, there wasn't any possibility of it happening.

"Where is Lesia?" Rias asked as it began to take more time than normal.

"I will go and take a look." Lora volunteered and soon left after Lesia.

A few minutes passed…

And, a frown appeared on Lear's face and as he started to wonder what was taking them so long, the two appeared.

"Did you wait long?" Lora smiled at Lear as she sat down beside him.

Lear looked at her feeling a bit odd, but just shook his head.

The group then began to engage in some conversation when Lear suddenly felt something and saw Lora's toes sliding across the side of his legs. He couldn't help but turn to look at her only to see a playful smile on her face.

Well, that certainly was unexpected.

"Well, how about this way to console you? I think I can do this much." She whispered to him with a smile. It was clear that she was teasing him.

Did she really think that she could tease him?

Lear just moved his hand, and slowly grabbed onto her hand.

It was a good thing that this was a public gathering. If it was just too of them alone, even god would have to close his eyes and no one would know how far things would have escalated.
