Chapter 201 - A Six-winged Skylord

Chapter 201: A Six-winged Skylord

Xia Fei nodded. “Yes, I’d say that it went well. Though there were a few hiccups, I still managed to find Uncle Porter; he even agreed to help out at my company for a bit.”

Xia Fei wanted to tell Qin Mang about the discovery of Titan as the technology of the ancient civilization was his favorite topic. He would certainly be incredibly excited if he found out about something so marvelous, but upon taking into consideration that Qin Mang was ill and needed rest, as well as too much stimulus would cause an increase in blood flow, which was not a good thing for someone that was poisoned, Xia Fei decided to keep it to himself for now.

“There are bound to be yields when one set their heart onto something. You risked your life, traveling far and wide to look for Porter, and because of it and after several obstacles, he’s willing to back you up and support you. That’s the aforementioned yield. There’s always a cause for an effect, and only when one gives it their all can they receive the greatest return.”

Perhaps he could feel that his life was dwindling, for Qin Mang uncharacteristically started teaching Xia Fei life lessons. Usually, he would hope that Xia Fei could find these things out himself and that this young man would not need him pointing the key points out.

“Ever since I met you, you’ve demonstrated incredible decision-making and analysis. Of course, that’s a good thing, for without an independent thought, you can never achieve big things, but I still don’t know what your aims are. You must always know your bearings, be they right or wrong, and you must give it your all,” said Qin Mang as he squinted his eyes.

Xia Fei could feel that Qin Mang’s tone was not as per usual. His attitude to Xia Fei right now was akin to a master lecturing his disciples.

“I think I’ve already found my aim, and there’s nothing stopping me from getting stronger,” Xia Fie said sans a sliver of shame. There was no point in hiding anything in front of Qin Mang. Moreover, the old man had never liked the fake type.

The time flew by, and before long, Xia Fei and Qin Mang had been chatting for quite a while. At first, they were talking about the philosophy of life, then it slowly devolved into trivial matters in life. Xia Fei went over the weird things that happened on Earth, and Qin Mang listened with interest.

Qin Mang did not say a word about his condition, nor did Xia Fei ask about it. Xia Fei really wanted to know what the old man had decided to leave him that made so many strangers watch him like tigers, but Qin Mang acted as if none of that had happened.

With how smart the old man usually was, there was no way that he did not know the awkward spot he had put Xia Fei in, so he must have his reasons for not saying it.

An idea hit Xia Fei and he quickly scanned the room. ‘Is the old man perhaps being watched, and that’s why he’s not mentioning anything important to me as we chat?’

With the technological levels of the Alliance, there was no need for pinhole cameras or whatever. Moreover, there were many ability users who could monitor the sickly Qin Mang sans any effort at all.

At this point, Xia Fei’s heart opened up. ‘It seems that the only thing these people are afraid of is Qin Mang not dying. Alright, I’ll go against your wishes on purpose.’

Xia Fei was actually in no hurry to concoct the poison needed to counter Qin Mang’s poison, but with these people monitoring each and every move of Qin Mang,

they had inadvertently provoked Xia Fei somewhat.

There was always a bottom line to everything; no one could refute that what they were doing was bullying the old man whom they knew could not fight back, which was a threat to the core.

After chatting for quite some time, Xia Fei noticed Qin Mang getting tired and decided to take his leave to return another day for a chat.

After leaving the room, Xia Fei breathed a sigh of relief. He must start working on capturing a six winged skylord sooner rather than later.

Thuram saw Xia Fei exit the room with a cold expression. Thinking that it was due to seeing Qin Mang being too ill, he patted Xia Fei on the back with some force as the two of them headed downstairs.

Mata and a few other old men, whom Xia Fei did not know, were huddled together, chatting. Upon seeing Xia Fei and Thuram come down the stairs, they gathered around them. As Xia Fei had something on his mind, he did not pay attention to what was being said and just found an excuse to leave.

Xia Fei hurriedly entered the Ares-class interceptor, which was stopped in a spaceport on Hek.

“Ling big brother, when will my Vampire arrive?” asked Xia Fei.

Because of the time constraints, Xia Fei took Thuram’s ship to back here, and Vampire was picked up by a cargo ship sent by Thuram. At this moment, Xia Fei was in a hurry to search for the ingredients to the medicinal concoction and could not do without a frigate.

Ling Xiao called the person in charge of the shipping using the communications and said after hanging up, “There’ll at least be thirteen days before your ship arrives. What’s wrong? Are you in need of a ship?”

Xia Fei nodded. “Yeah, I might head out soon.”

Ling Xiao thought for a few moments. “How about this:, I can call and ask for a spaceship from somewhere around here. If you really can’t wait, you may also inform Mr. Thuram and take this Ares-class with you.”

Xia Fei did not pass off Ling Xiao’s goodwill. He was now quite close to Thuram, and this was something he could definitely ask of.

After returning to his room, Xia Fei turned on his microcomputer to search for news of a six winged skylord’s whereabouts.

Xia Fei was shocked to find that his interplanetary interceptor account had been upgraded from a normal user that could search for things in their star domain to a VIP user with limitless access to contents everywhere in the intergalactic society.

Needless to say, this was probably something Avril did in secret. After all, the entire interplanetary internet system was owned by her family.

Xia Fei furrowed his eyebrows and did not say anything. Although he had not even considered taking advantage of the Jian family, there was no way that he would reject Avril’s goodwill.

Obviously, there were benefits to being a VIP user. Other than being able to query the internet of the entire human race, he could also transfer funds using the internet without any fees, use the super search engine, among other things.

He tapped on the projected screen, then keyed ‘sixed-winged lord’ in the smart search engine, setting the area to be within a million radius of Hek Star, and turned on the advanced filter option.

The search engine started doing its work; all the results were information within Xia Fei’s query area, which was then applied through a smart filter.

It was hard to imagine that after ten minutes or so, results started appearing on the projected screen. The time spent searching was much faster than before.

Trillion did not even begin to count the amount of information on the interplanetary internet. It was not a simple task to search for what Xia Fei wanted among the sea of information.

VIP users were allowed to use three Polaris AI computers to serve them and just them, which was why it would only take them ten minutes or so to sort through the incredibly vast information. It was difficult to imagine speeds like this in the past.

The first row on the projected screen was information about sightings of a six winged skylord. Apparently, a mining ship, which was prospecting an unknown planet, discovered a weird being. After a detailed comparison from the video, the chances of it being a legendary six winged skylord were high.

The planet was, thus, sealed off to prevent any fatalities, requiring a level-9 clearance to enter.

Xia Fei furrowed his brows. This was the most hopeful one out of the countless results. First, there were eyewitnesses; second, the sealing of the planet further confirmed the truth; third and more importantly, it was just five hundred lightyears or so away from Hek and would, at most, only take ten hours for him to reach it.

“You plan to try your luck on Planet IK4519?” asked Phantom.

Xia Fei nodded. “At this point, yeah. After all, it’s the most reliable news so far.”

The home of six winged skylords was in the Soul Reaper Star Region, far away from the Endaro Star Region. It was surely possible to find one there, but a roundtrip would at least take twenty days. Judging from Qin Mang’s condition, he might not survive that long.

Xia Fei decisively called Thuram.

On the projected screen, Thuram appeared to be in an incredibly fancy hotel, socializing.

“Uncle Thuram, I have something that I need your help for.”

Thuram curled the corner of his lips. “Great timing. I’ve been asked by Mata and the others to go drinking. I was struggling to come up with an excuse to leave. Go ahead; what do you need?”

“I need a level-9 clearance and a ship.” Xia Fei went straight to the point.

“Level-9 clearance? What for?” Thuram was confused.

“Something important.”

Thuram nodded. “If you’re not going to tell, then whatever. Give me thirty minutes; I’ll send the clearance to your mailbox. As for a ship, you can just take Ares, as I won’t be needing it for the immediate present, anyway.”

After hanging up, Xia Fei went to the break room to look for the Ling brothers. He told them about borrowing the ship with Thuram’s permission. Obviously, they did not have anything to say about it, but because they needed to be by Thuram’s side, they could not go with Xia Fei.

“Big brother Ling, here’s a checklist with some medicinal ingredients and equipment. Please prepare them for me while I’m gone,” said Xia Fie.

Ling Xiao turned on his computer and looked through the checklist Xia Fei had sent. He quickly patted his chest and agreed. “Brother Xia Fei, your business is my business. Don’t worry; I’ll gather these things no matter what.”

Ling Xiao directly worked under Thuram, after all. Moreover, these medicinal ingredients and equipment were not too outrageous, so gathering them would be a breeze to him.

After sending the sibling trio off the ship, Xia Fei returned to the command deck and said to the bearded pilot and his copilot, “Destination: Planet IK4517; let’s head off at once.”

The bearded captain quickly plotted the route but furrowed his brows when the results turned up. “The said planet requires a level-9 clearance; do you have it?”

Xia Fei smiled. “The clearance should arrive in around twenty minutes. Let’s not delay this any further; we can talk as we move.”

The bearded man nodded. The Ares rose into the sky with bright-blue flames, quickly disappearing without a trace.

Xia Fei returned to his room and set his Celestial Moon and a dagger with no name on the table.

He had only done one thing throughout the eight-hour journey.

Sharpen his blades.
