Spending My Retirement In A Game

Chapter 176 - Different Energy

"Alright, so first things first, Eisen. You're gonna be our guild master then?" Brody asked after the three men sat down at the table before Eisen swiftly nodded. "Yes. I recently finished a quite big quest, so I reached level 99. I am currently working toward completing the requirements. For that, I will also need to leave again, not too long from now. I started helping out at the Church here, which includes the orphanage, hospital, and homeless shelter. I can learn and rank up some skills there while I am at it." The old man explained before Jyuuk quickly remembered what Eisen asked him for, before putting his hand into his pocket to pull out a few small marbles.

"Here are the soul stones you asked for, by the way." The Monkey-Beastperson said before Eisen gratefully took them into his hands. "Thank you, Jyuuk. I hope it wasn't too much trouble."

"Oh no, it didn't take that long," Jyuuk responded before Brody nodded. "Mhm, it ain't a problem for me to take out a monster or two. Anyway, Jyuuk said ya want to go to some mysterious islands?"

"Yes, exactly. One of the reasons Jyuuk suggested that we found a guild was so that we can create a town, and for that, we need a large spot of land. And the largest unclaimed spot of land that we can currently access is that island group. We'll need to clear out the field dungeons there, but with all of us working together, that shouldn't be too big of an issue." Eisen explained quickly before everyone swiftly nodded.

"True, we're definitely the perfectly balanced party. We have non-combat support through Eisen, numbers through Jyuuk, main combatants through Brody; buffs and debuffs through Evalia and then AoE and Long Distance support through me." Xenia pointed out before everyone once more agreed.

"But before then, we still need to build the ship. It will be a long trip, and we will need something to travel from the islands back to the mainland and back anyway, so it should be something large and durable, which is why it may take a while." Eisen explained, before quickly continuing, "Considering that that is the case, for now, we should all get everything out of the way that needs to be done beforehand and then concentrate on the shipbuilding as much as possible."

"Sounds good to me," Brody exclaimed as he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms as he did, before remembering something. "Ah, dude, Eisen. What's that whole demon thing you've got goin' on? Jyuuk told me a little about it."

With a smile, Eisen quickly nodded before he began to explain the whole story while showing him his transformation on his hand and his eyes before the Demon-Orc halfling looked at Eisen in surprise.

"Wait, Yin and Yang? I use the same energy to fight." Brody explained before the group reversed the situation and everyone looked at him in surprise, while Eisen inquired about that exclamation with a frown. "What do you mean? Is that your magic element?" He asked, but Brody quickly shook his head and began to explain.

"Nah, I don't use magic or mana or anythin' like that, although I guess it's the same principle. Because of my race, I just ain't good at using mana. From the start, I wasn't able to use it outside of my body, and could only do stuff like strengthen myself a little bit with pure mana, and slowly got my Mana Manipulation skill to Rank 2, where people can usually choose their element." Brody began before Xenia opened her eyes widely and formed a curious smile.

"'Usually'… as in, not in your case? Do you have an alternate source?" She inquired before Brody nodded his head.

"As expected of our magic freak, eh? Anyway, as you said, I have an alternate source. Or rather, I had the option to change the mana source inside of my body into an energy source, and the type I was most suitable for was the 'Yin and Yang' energy. In this case, 'Yin' refers to external arts, while 'Yang' refers to internal arts. Cuz I'm good at both, I got this balanced version of the energy." The Demon-Orc explained, fidgeting around with his small tusks as he did before Eisen nodded slowly.

"I see. In my case, as I already explained, 'Yin' seems to be the evil version, while 'Yang' is the good version. Does that have any correlation to your energy?" Eisen asked the martial artist, who simply shook his head.

"Not really, no. The only thing I can see is because external arts refer to regular martial arts, it can be seen as something bad or chaotic since they're used to fight. Most internal arts are more peaceful and meant to make you more connected with yourself and the energy of the universe, so that could be seen as good in a way. But I really don't know, that's the only connection I can see." Brody explained before Eisen slowly nodded and ended up shrugging.

"Well, it doesn't matter too much anyway. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I guess we'll find out at some point if we look into it. And what can you do with your Yin and Yang energy?" Eisen inquired before Brody quickly continued explaining.

"It's rather two different energies inside of my body. As I said, Yin is for my external arts, meaning the actual techniques and martial arts that I end up using. So my Yin energy strengthens these things, and I can cause a few different effects with it outside of my body, depending on which techniques I use. It's a pretty cliché thing in stories, but I can, for example, punch something that's 10 meters away from me or somethin'." The Demon-Orc explained before Xenia looked at him in surprise.

"Eh? Really? That's really a thing now?" She asked excitedly, before Brody slowly nodded with a slight grin, revealing some sharp teeth, and showing how big his tusks really were. "Yup it is. And as for my internal arts, with my Yang energy, I strengthen my body itself. My breathwork, how I control my energy, and generally how well I can control my body. External arts focus mainly on the usage of your muscles, while internal arts focus on using leverage, motion, and the flexibility of your own body. Of course, internal arts still have a focus on combat and techniques like external arts do, but I would say that isn't it's the main focus, although in the end, external and internal arts somewhat mix, and you can't really complete your control over one without using the other. That's why I think the name 'Yin and Yang Energy' is such a good fit."

Slowly, without needing to think about it for long, Eisen ended up nodding. "Indeed. Both halves end up forming a whole, after all." He said, before realizing something else about Yin and Yang. Why were they called the path of yin and the path of yang? If you could walk on either path, shouldn't you be able to walk on both? It might be hard, but in the end, wouldn't it pay off?

As far as he knew, True Demons had terrific abilities, no matter what path they were on, so if he managed to find a balance, maybe he would learn some fascinating new skills that are much more useful than if he were only to choose one path.

Either way, this was still quite some time away, as far as Eisen was concerned. He would first need to somehow get onto the path of yang in the first place, and he would need to think about what came after that when the time came.

"That's quite interesting, though. It seems like Xenia's going to want to ask you some questions about it, though." Eisen chuckled before he looked at the high elf, who was still wearing an extremely inquisitive expression. "Actually, do you have everything ready to break the curse on Kirisho's amulet?" Eisen inquired before Xenia slowly nodded.

"Hm? Yeah, I have the materials ready, but I still need to prepare everything. Should be ready by evening though, so until then you can still go and continue that dragon's trial." Xenia told the old man, before Eisen nodded his head, but didn't choose to go yet, as he still wanted to ask some questions, for which he looked over at Jyuuk, the only one that he currently knew of who was able to control souls within the group of Originals.

"So, Jyuuk, did you look into the soul storage thing I told you about?" Eisen asked as Jyuuk quickly nodded.

"Mhm, I did. I was actually able to put the Beastiary you made into my soul storage. But I didn't see anything about a box, or anything else." Jyuuk explained, and Eisen began to deeply frown before summoning the small ornate box from his soul storage.

"Really? You have nothing like this?" Eisen asked once more, and Jyuuk shook his head. "No, I don't. Sorry. But did you find anything out about how to open it yet?" The monkey-beast person asked, but Eisen didn't spend much time trying to figure it out yet, so he had no idea.

"I think I'll leave the box with Sky for a bit and ask him to figure out the writing on here. He seemed pretty interested in it. And who knows, maybe this is something that's meant for everyone together? It is a Rank 10 item with Divine Quality, after all, so it has to be something quite amazing." Eisen pointed out, and the others quickly agreed before Eisen continued. "Well, we shouldn't worry too much about it right now. If any of you others unlock the soul storage function, let me know if you find anything like this." He asked them before he chose to stand up.

"Alright, I've got to get going now. Should we meet up again in the evening?" The old man asked, and the rest of them slowly nodded.

"I wanna hear what you've all been up to, I've heard a little bit from Jyuuk, but not too much, really." Brody pointed out, and Evalia nodded immediately.

"Ya can be sure of that. Been wantin' to work on a lil' something with a skill of mine, so hearin' your stories would be great." She said with a smirk, before Eisen nodded, although a bit curious about the ability she was talking about, and stepped over to get those of his group that wanted to come with him.

Caria and Melissa wanted to stay with Jyuuk, or rather his monsters, for the day, so Eisen took that chance to ask Xenia to look into the problem with their mana manipulation. On the other hand, Bree chose to join Eisen for today, since Dien had something else on his schedule, so Eisen's group was now made up of Sky, Bree, Kiron and himself.

And before Eisen was about to leave, he confirmed Komer's plans for the day once more, which were to go out to the spot that he found and begin selling the items Eisen prepared, while spreading out that the 'Golden-Eyed Demon' was available for, albeit only a few, custom orders.

After Eisen, Bree, Sky, and Kiron left the restaurant; they walked past a few different shops to buy some necessary materials for Koro, Parc, and Rouge to use during their crafting tests. That would probably take up a large part of the day already, so Eisen wanted to hurry up with it as soon as possible. And he couldn't just leave while they were completing it, because he didn't just want to look at the end product, but at the process as well, or rather for the most part.

Surely, as long as the finished item was functional, Eisen would at least give them a passing grade, but he would only teach them to the extent that he taught his best disciples, but only if they all had the talent for it.
