Speed Is King

202 Angry. Need Blood.

“BIG BROTHER!!” Jessica shouted in shock!

“Hey Jess!” Elliot grinned at his sister as he came out of stealth from behind her.

He was in his Flame Wolf form, and it was him who had twitched slightly by the bushes earlier, and who had fired three consecutive fire blasts at her! He knew that she was immune to fire, so he had no qualms firing off so many powerful fire blasts to get her to panic a little.

“So it was you! I thought I was being ambushed by a powerful monster… You!” Jessica pointed at her brother with a quivering finger as her indignance drowned out the fact that she missed him quite badly for a moment.

“Well, technically you aren’t wrong. Because the one ambushing you wasn’t me, but Rex. Hey Rex, you can come out now! Say hi to… WHOA! What happened to you??” Elliot gasped in shock at poor Rex’s terrible condition!

“AHH! REX!!! Oh my God… I’m so sorry!” Jessica squealed loudly in panic!

Big patches of his once majestic fur were burnt, and he looked completely pissed off. Although no serious damage had been done to him since he was a powerful King level beast, he was still very much in pain due to Jessica’s searing hot black flames!

Elliot quickly blinked to his side and gave him a beast full restore which saw him heal completely within a few short moments.

“There you go. Hehehe, sorry Rex. I shouldn’t have gotten you to ambush a powerful Phoenix like Jessica. You can go now!” Elliot patted Rex sheepishly.

Rar! Rex gave Elliot a snort and proceeded to Jessica’s side to purr and ask her for pats!

Even though it was Jessica who had burnt him so badly earlier, in its mind, it was Elliot’s fault for getting her to do such a stupid thing! Jessica was completely innocent!

“Big brother! How could you do that! See what you’ve done! You’ve injured Rex and you’ve made me so scared there for a moment!” Jessica scolded her elder brother sternly even as she patted Rex very lovingly.

“I miss you, Rex! How have you been? Did you grow stronger? Wow! You’re a King level beast too! Impressive! Very very impressive!!” Jessica gushed at Rex who was strutting before her proudly like a little kitten showing off her new power and strength.

Jessica giggled lightly and hugged Rex tightly.

“Hehehe. I was about to just give you a quick BOO to scare you when I overheard you saying that you could defeat me in ten moves! So I decided to see if you could actually do that. Haha! Jess, you’ve really become so strong! I am very proud of you.” Elliot said in an impressed tone while nodded at Jessica proudly.

“I guess I am pretty strong now. But big bro, you’re so broken. I’ve gained so much strength, and you seem to still be much, much stronger than me! How did you do that?” Jessica asked him.

“I have a secret. Don’t worry. I will be sharing the secret with you later. With what I am about to give you, you’ll definitely become much, much more powerful than now!” Elliot said with a mysterious smile.

“Really? Amazing! But don’t give it to me if you still can gain strength from it. It’s better if we focus on increasing your strength to the maximum first! That way, we can have a higher chance of saving Jennifer.” At that, both Elliot’s and Jessica’s mood fell slightly as they were reminded of the great mission that they still had.

“I’ve already reached maximum saturation. I can’t benefit anymore from it at this point in time. I’ll share some with you so you can have a qualitative upgrade to your strength. Don’t worry. I have Jennifer’s rescue as my top priority. I won’t do anything to jeopardize that. Just take my gifts later and be at peace.” Elliot assured his sister.

“Okay! If you say so.” Jessica smiled at her brother. And at that, she let go of Rex, and immediately gave Elliot a big hug!!

“It has only been almost two weeks, and already I feel like we’ve gone through so much. What will the future hold for us, bro?” Jessica said slightly emotionally as she slowly allowed all the pressure that she had been dealing with for the past few days to unwind and disappear.

In her brother’s embrace, she was truly at peace! A deep sense of security surrounded her and she could finally, at long last, relax her guard.

“I have found a few powerful allies for us. We will be fighting very hard to win as many resources in the next few months, save as many of our fellow human beings as we can, and then we’ll participate at the final tournament which will allow us to win back the planet if we win. I have everything planned out already, Jess. You just need to stay safe, and trust me!” Elliot told her.

“I trust you.” Jessica said softly.

“Good.” Elliot said simply. “Now, let’s find a safe place that’s completely out of sight of prying eyes in the sky, and we’ll power you up a little bit! After you’re done, I will bring you to meet our new allies. And then… We’ll go and save Jennifer.”

Elliot and Jessica stared at each other for a moment, each of them finding solace and comfort at the other, each of them feeding off the energy, the determination, and the blazing fury that burned within their eyes.

“We’ll save Jennifer. And skin that damn Emperor alive.” Jessica said softly.

At that moment, all of the avian viewers in the known universe who were looking at Jessica couldn’t help but be surprised.

Even if they couldn’t hear what she said very clearly, the expression on her face was a very, very familiar one.

It was an expression that they often used and saw among their kind.

It was an expression that simply said, “Angry. Need blood.”
