Sovereign of the Firmaments

Chapter 69 - [Bonus ]Weekly Mission Series

'Puchi'

'Puchi'

Among the 20 hidden needles he threw at the incoming masked assassins, only two assassins were killed as they fell to the ground.

'Swoosh'

As for the remaining eight assassins, they blocked the hidden needles and continued to rush towards Lucas.

'Amateurs.'

Seeing the footwork of the incoming assassins, Lucas shook his head as two rank 3 short swords appeared in his hands.

For a deadly assassin like him, the incoming assassins were nothing but a bunch of amateurs who still had a lot to learn.

As for sneaking upon him with their current skills, they need to train for more than a couple of decades but by that time, Lucas would become even more powerful.

Lucas had long noticed a group of assassins that were following him before he could enter the Myriad primordial forest; however, he acted like they were not following him and brought them to a secluded place.

"Slash"

"Slash"

Lucas dodged the incoming attacks as he made some severe cuts on the bodies of the assassins.

'Ding,

The host killed nine assassin servants and gained nine sovereign points.

Except for one assassin whom Lucas had intentionally left him alive to ask a few questions.

"Who put a bounty on my head?"

Lucas didn't check the assassin bodies because he knew he would not find anything other than rank 1 daggers on them.

Nevertheless, Lucas focused on asking the questions to know who wanted him dead.

"Do you think…."

"Slash"

'Aargh'

Before the assassin could finish his words, Lucas chopped off the assassin's fingers, making him cry in pain.

"So, tell me if you don't want to lose the fingers of your right hand."

With an evil smile on his face, Lucas once again asked the assassin the same question.

"It is the Grayeye family's second young master. As long as I bring your two hands, the mission will be completed."

The assassin thought he could endure; however, deep down he was still a low-level assassin who needed more experience. So, he said everything about the mission.

"Huh? Grayeye family?"

Lucas frowned as muttered, ''What the hell I did to that family? It is their second time trying to kill me.'

Last time, a group of adventurer bandits belonging to the Grayeye family tried to loot and kill him and now, they moved to the second step by giving the mission to the assassin guild.

However, what Lucas didn't understand was why would they want to kill him?

'Is it because of the incident from the inn?'

That was the first time he heard the Grayeye family's name and even though the group of adventurers didn't belong to the Grayeye family, they seemed to have connections with that family.

'However, isn't it too petty?'

Lucas shook his head as he removed that thought because, in his previous life, he learned that powerful men and women would get offended for the slightest things.

"Since you answered my question, I will be quick."

'Slash'

With a simple slash, Lucas killed the assassin before taking all the daggers from the corpses lying around them.

"Grayeye family, just you wait. I will let you know that you poke the sleeping behemoth's nest."

Lucas felt all he needed right now to increase his strength as he knew the Grayeye family would not be going anywhere.

'Before I confront the Mysterious organization, the Grayeye family, Mages guild and Weapons pavilion will become a good training practice for me.'

He set a few minor targets and before looking at his surroundings, Lucas muttered, 'It's time to hunt the spirit beasts.'

'Swoosh'

Lucas didn't waste his time on the rank 1 spirit beasts; instead, he entered deeper into the Baron grounds of the forest where there would be many rank 2 spirit beasts.

Along the way, he casually killed the rank 1 spirit beasts and threw them into the system's inventory.

'Forest mongrels.'

Soon, Lucas found a small pack of forest mongrels eating the leftovers of a rank 3 spirit beast.

In that group, there was a peak rank 2 forest mongrel along with a dozen rank 1 forest mongrels.

'O lightning elements in….'

Soon, Lucas chanted the 'Thunder bullet' spell while looking at the group of forest mongrels.

'Ding,

The host unlocked a weekly mission series. Please check more details in the mission feature.

While chanting the spell, Lucas got the system notification and opened the mission tab while continuing his chanting.

'Ding,

Mission Name:- Weekly mission series, Day 1.

Mission Details:- Kill at least 1000 rank 1 spirit beasts before the sunset.

Mission Reward:- 100 sovereign points.

Mission failure:- Deduction of 50 sovereign points.

Time limit:- Four hours.

'Weekly mission series?'

'Killing 1000 rank 1 spirit beasts in four hours? Are you insane?'

Lucas frowned at the mission released by the system as he asked the system.

'Nevermind, I like the mission.'

Nevertheless, before the system could say anything, Lucas revealed a slight smile on his face because he always wanted to push his limits and as long as there was a good reward, he would definitely push himself.

Also, other than the 100 sovereign points, he would get at least one sovereign point for every 10 or so rank 1 spirit beasts he killed.

'Moreover, there was a penalty of 50 sovereign points. I need to keep that in mind and complete the mission in time.'

Even though Lucas didn't want to fall into the trap of the 'Mission-reward' process, currently, he needed that to become powerful and only if he become powerful, he could save his little brother.

"For every minute, I have to kill 4- 5 spirit beasts to complete the missions."

Soon, he made the calculations in his head as he finished his chanting and shouted, 'Thunder bullet'

'Puchi'

'Boom'

A thunder bullet materialized in front of him and pierced through the rank 2 forest mongrel's head before blasting it into pieces.

'Ding,

Bullseyes. The host gained 10 experience points.

Thunder bullet:- level 2 (30/1000 experience points)

'Ding,

8 units of magic power are depleted by using the 'Thunder bullet'.

'Ding,

1 unit of magic power was recovered by the eternal magic recovery technique.

'Ding,

The host killed a rank 2 forest mongrel and gained a sovereign point.

Soon, a series of usual system notifications appeared in his head; however, he didn't check them at all as he got used to them.

'With no leader, these forest mongrels are sitting ducks for me to kill.'

Before the dozen forest mongrels could realize what was happening, they saw a silhouette rush out of the nearby bushes and saw a light blue-coloured line in the air before falling to the ground.

'Ding,

The host killed 12 rank 1 forest mongrels and gained 2 sovereign points.

'2 sovereign points? Looks like I am lucky.'

Lucas was satisfied with the sovereign points he gained from killing the 12 rank 1 forest mongrels.

'Wuuu'

Just as he was stuffing all the corpses into the system inventory, Lucas heard a loud howling sound and looking in the direction where he heard the howl, Lucas saw a rank 2 forest mongrel.

'There was another rank 2 forest mongrel?'

Lucas frowned when he saw the rank 2 forest mongrel in the distance look at him with an evil look in its eyes.
