Sovereign of the Firmaments

Chapter 218 - Complete Defeat

Outside the Silverstone town's barrier,

"Leader, we can't see anything from here."

"Yes, leader. If we can't see anything; however, are we going to finish our plans?"

A group of assassins hiding in the trees looked at the black coloured barrier in the distance as they complained to their leader.

"Shut up."

However, the leader berated his subordinates as he continued saying, "As long as the representatives from the Alverton firmament succeeds, we don't have anything to do; however, if they fail and that brat named Lucas escapes, we have to kill him before the other branch assassinates him."

This group of assassins are just one branch of the assassin guild in the Barren firmament that was surrounding the Silverstone town as there were many other branches doing the same thing as them, which was waiting for Lucas to get killed.

"Leader, if you don't mind, do you have any idea why the headquarters of the assassin guild was so adamant about killing him? Actually, who commisioned this assassination?"

One of the assassins asked the guild leader about the assassination of Lucas.

"If you want to live, just keep quiet."

However, the guild leader only scolded that assassin and asked him to keep quiet.

'Actually, even I don't know much about it other than the fact that someone from the fifth-ranked firmament commissioned this assassin by paying a hefty price.'

The leader silently thought in his head as he muttered, 'The only way to keep your life intact in an organization like ours, you don't ask many questions. The moment you ask the questions, you can forget living in peace.'

These were the thoughts of the guild leader of almost all the assassin branches in the Barren firmament.

…..

Time continued to pass and three hours passed by in a flash; however, the assassin didn't see anyone coming out of the town and the barrier was still covered by the black mist.

'Huh? Why is it taking so long for the representatives to come out of the barrier?'

Even though the assassins were trained to be patient on their missions, the guild leaders and their subordinates were getting impatient after three hours of waiting.

Because, the three groups were led by a rank 5 beast tamer, tier 3 higher mage, tier 5 higher knight respectively.

As for the youngsters in their groups were all rank 4 beast tamers, tier 3-4 general mages and tier 3-5 general knights.

Moreover, since they were from the Alverton firmament, their equipment and artifacts were much better than anyone in the Barren firmament.

So, even with all that, they were taking three hours which was unusually long compared to what they had imagined.

"Guild leader, do you think something happened to those representatives?"

A few assassins asked their guild leaders about the delay in the representatives' delay.

"How is it possible?"

Even though the guild leader's felt the same, they shook their heads when they thought about Lucas, who was just a tier 3 lesser knight and the strongest one in the territory was a low-level rank 5 spirit beast 'Shadow dragon'.

However, the other side had three of them who had the equivalent strength or even more strength than that of the Shadow Dragon.

"I think they found something interesting in the town and might be negotiating with that brat."

After thinking for a while, some of the guild leaders came to this conclusion and decided to wait for some more time in observing the town from the outside.

"Yeah. That's right!"

Soon, all the assassins nodded their heads in understanding.

....

Inside the town.

Exactly two hours thirty minutes earlier.

"How is this possible…how is this possible?"

The middle-aged man who was leading the royal family's group fell to his knees as he looked at Lucas as though he was looking at some kind of monster.

He was completely surrounded by the corpses of the youngsters from three groups along with the leaders of those groups.

Earlier, he thought it was an easy job to destroy the town; however, after seeing how many strong monsters he was hiding in such a small town, he could not believe his eyes.

Two humans, with just the strengths of tier 3 general knight and tier 4 general mage, were capable of killing a tier 3 higher mage.

Two groups of youngsters killed a group of youngsters who had an entire rank higher than them.

A group of 10 mid-level and high-level rank 4 lynxes took care of the other two groups without breaking a sweat.

That's not it. The more terrifying thing was the three rank 5 spirit beasts controlled by the rank 5 beast tamer from their side were killed by two low-level rank 5 lynxes.

'And as for me, I have been thoroughly defeated by a mid-level rank 5 lynx….damn it…how is this possible?'

'According to information we have on this town, it was supposed to have only a single low-level rank 5 shadow dragon. But, clearly, there are three rank 5 lynxes. What's more, one of them was a mid-level rank 5 star lynx.'

Recalling all the events that happened in just 30 minutes, the royal instructor was unable to believe that the three groups of representatives from the Alverton were completely defeated in a town of the barren firmament.

"Everything is possible as long as you work hard on it."

Lucas scoffed at the royal instructor who lost both his hands as he said, "I have a few questions to ask you. If you answer them correctly, I will put you out of your misery."

"Brat, I will tell you one thing. If you don't let me go back, you and the entire town will be decimated by my royal family."

Even in his current condition, the royal instructor quickly got his composure back as he replied to Lucas in a serious voice.

"What? Letting you go back? In your dreams."

Lucas chuckled as he shook his head as he asked, "One last time, are you going to answer my questions are not?"

"Even if I die, I will not answer anything."
