Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 64 - A Restless Yasurouka

I was walking to the cafeteria with Tsūmen and Gaisen as it was lunchtime. But I was well aware of the person who has been tailing me for quite the time now.

"Can you guys go ahead of me? I've got something to do." I said as they looked at me.

"What?" Tsūmen asked me with much surprise in his voice.

"I just forgot to do something so I'm returning to the class." I gave a vague reasoning specifying nothing.

"You sure you are not sneaking away to flirt with some girl we don't know?" He narrowed his eyes at me and Gaisen chuckled.

"You have quite high expectations from me." I sighed.

"Of course I do… you're my friend after all." Tsūmen said with much pride in his voice.

"That's the sole reason to not have expectations from me." I retorted, as I observed the smile on his face turn into a dumb grin.

"Oh, double self burn… good one Saishi." Gaisen was chuckling at our comedic exchange.

"I saw that coming, don't worry." Tsūmen laughed.

"Anyways, I'll join you in a moment, okay?" I turned around and walked away from them as they gave me a nod of affirmation.

After yesterday's conversation with her in the corridor, I have been deliberately ignoring her texts and her approaches to talk with me. I'm building up tension between us at this point, because it'll be useful to me later.

She has been looking at me since morning, and she even tried to talk to me. Her body language clearly shows her restlessness, and anxiety is embedded in her eyes.

It was crowded around me, but I looked directly at the person who was following me. My eyes met with her dark coloured ones and she gave out this breath of annoyance as she glared at me.

I walked towards her as she was standing around the staircase wall.

"You need something?" I asked, looking at her face.

"What's with that attitude?" She rolled her eyes at my tone. My tone was somewhat lukewarm.

"No, it's like… you've been staring at me all day long… so I assumed there must be something." I knew exactly what she wanted from me, still I wanted to hear it from her mouth.

"You make me sound creepy for staring at you." She averted her eyes from me, a bit embarrassed as her cheeks had a slightly red tint.

"So, you're indeed staring at me." I said with a smile.

"Wha… ugh! I hate you." She stared at me for a few moments and let out a sigh of annoyance.

"So, what is it?" I asked her again.

"You know very well, what it is?" She emphasised on the last part of the sentence.

"What? I don't know what you're talking about?" I said with much sarcasm in my voice, that made her pissed off.

"You bastard, you… I wanted to talk about what you said yesterday!" She said in a sharp tone while glaring at me. She may have thought that glaring makes her appear intimidating, but it was the opposite.

"Ah, that… well…" I said with a lethargic tone, as if I didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"Shut the fuck up and come to the point!" She was getting quite mad now. I decided to stop playing around and come to the point directly.

"Ok… chill. You want to talk about it, how about we meet after school in the library?" I asked, as my statement seemed to change the angry expression on her face.

"After school?" She narrowed her eyes, and said in a questioning tone.

"Well we don't have any free periods today." Today, we had all theory and practical periods in the second half, so we couldn't afford to skip class and hang out in the library.

Also if me and her were to skip class together, strange rumours will definitely spread involving us and it would just hinder my progress with her, so I would rather not make any silly moves.

"Makes sense... Okay, I'll wait for you." She said, and I nodded to affirm her.

"Don't ditch me, or you'll regret it." She was pretty suspicious of me. I mean I would be suspicious of me too if I were in her place.

"Is that so?" I chuckled, as she rolled her eyes and showed me her middle finger. That was a new way to end a conversation. She turned around and walked towards the class.

I looked at her figure walking away from me. Now that everything was set, I also headed for the cafeteria to join my friends.

I entered the cafeteria and searched for those two, my eyes scanning over the whole area. I found them sitting in one of the middle rows. I walked towards them, while sipping my favourite choco milk.

Gaisen noticed me approaching and waved towards me. Tsūmen also turned back to look at me. And it seemed like both of them were talking about something serious. I slid the chair out and sat next to Gaisen.

"So… done talking with your girl?" Tsūmen said with a mischievous smile on his face.

"Bruh… what girl?" I'm so annoyed that he teases me whenever he gets the chance. I hope I can get over this quickly because he will lose all his memories about this and the teasing will come to an end.

"The one you went to meet right now…" He said, narrowing his eyes.

"Probably." Gaisen added.

"Yes… probably." Tsūmen repeated after him.

Knowing that they will just say dimb stuff, I decided to ask what they were talking about so seriously before I came. "Yeah… anyways… What were you guys talking about?"

"Ah… changing the topic… are we?" Tsūmen chuckled.

"Yes we are, now shut up and talk." I said with a rough tone in a sarcastic manner, though most people can't tell if I'm being sarcastic or not.

"I… uh…" He opened his mouth to utter something, but decided not to.

"We were talking about that incident with Kizhashi-san." Gaisen let out a chuckle and answered my question.

"Ah yes… what was it all about?" Even though I knew everything, I decided to not reveal anything and listen to this incident from his perspective.

"Some lame reason…" He sighed.

"Wait… like Yasurouka hasn't told you about it?" Tsūmen asked.

"Nope… I asked her but she said that it's something among them and gave me a vague answer."

"Well… don't worry, Gaisen-kun tell him about it too." Tsūmen showed me the thumb up gesture with a bright smile. He sure enjoyed listening to these dramas and stuff.

"Huh?" Gaisen looked at me.

"I mean… I'm indeed curious." I shrugged.

"So Reina-san didn't tell you after all." He said with a slow nod. Was he expecting her to tell me?

"I didn't pry in that matter since she didn't want to spill it." I said that to make my lie more authentic.

Gaisen looked at me, and sighed. I prepared myself to listen to him closely as he began talking.
