Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 201 - She Doesn't Need My Help Anymore

"Kizhashi-san!" I couldn't finish my sentence as an unfamiliar voice broke our conversation by calling out her name. Both of us turned around and saw a boy standing there with an embarrassed expression on his face.

His hair bleached to blonde colour as he had an undercut with his sides which were darkish brown that I assumed to be the proper colour of his hair. He had piercings in his right ear and was wearing the uniform of our school.

Looking at his expression and body language, I could tell what he was about to do. I glanced at Kizhashi, who had an exhausted look on her face, as she asked, "Do I know you?"

"Y...yes. I'm Yutaka." The boy said in a hesitant voice while rubbing the back of his neck and stealing glances at her.

.

"Imai-kun… do you need something?" A slow smile formed on her lips as she asked, looking at his troubled expression as he looked at her and his eyes swiftly moved downwards for instance, "I...uh…"

"I want to ask you something…" He said with a weird look in his eyes that I was pretty much aware of, but I wanted to see how things would turn out. Kizhashi tilted her head politely and started, "Yes…? See if you're about to ask me out again, then the answer is the same as before."

As she finished, the expression on his face changed. His eyes narrowed, and a frown formed on his face, which was clearly illustrating his rage as he yelled, "Why!!?"

Both me and Kizhashi were caught off guard. She was startled at his sudden raise in voice as he clenched his fists and spitted through his teeth, "You've broken up with your boyfriend! So what the fuck is the problem?!"

The confusion on her face was clear as day and it was quite funny because the other guy's logic was the dumbest thing I've heard till then. Kizhashi stared at him for a while and blinked before replying in a low tone, "I'm sorry, but I've already told you that I'm not interested in any relationships right now."

Also, judging by the way they were interacting, they seemed familiar. Also, what Kizhashi said a few moments earlier was enough for me to assume that this wasn't the time he was confessing to her.

I never understood why people can't take 'No' as an answer when asking someone out. The other person is obviously under no obligation to go out with you just because you happen to like them. Stubborn and ignorant people were something I hated a lot.

The dude walked towards her a bit with a creepy smile, or rather because of his desperation as he said, "Don't worry, we can just give it a try."

Kizhashi was getting nervous, as she slowly stepped back and her grip was getting tighter on her bag. But there was still a smile on her face as the boy was closing in on her, "It's not like I'm forcing you to do anything… I just want you to be my girlfriend."

I was quite surprised to see his desperation and the tantrum he was throwing in the middle of the road because he couldn't take no as an answer from a girl he asked out. I didn't know him at all, but this behaviour was pathetic in my eyes.

Looking at him, Kizhashi closed her eyes and let out a sigh of irritation. Keeping her calm and polite composure, she opened her mouth, "Sorry…"

Before Kizhashi could finish her sentence, he burst out in rage as his jaws clenched and with maniacal eyes, he started yelling, "What Sorry!? Bruh I'm asking you out for so long, can't you just give me a chance? Huh?"

Kizhashi started backing up, as she was scared. With hesitation in her voice, she said in a low voice, "I… need some time before I can go into another one."

Stomping his feet on the ground, he mumbled something to himself. I was noticing everything unfold in front of me as the guy's head moved upwards and his eyes gazed at Kizhashi and in a fit of rage he yelled again, "How much!? It's already been a week since you're playing me."

Kizhashi gave him a sharp look as those words left his mouth, and with a much louder voice than before, she said in an assertive tone, "Huh? I'm not playing you!"

But he wasn't having any of it, as he seemed to be ready to punch her. His narrowed eyes looked at her and they travelled all over her and with a frustrated tone he asked, "You think just because you're all that, you can do anything?"

Kizhashi was getting pissed off at two as she rolled her eyes and with an irritated sigh, she said, "I just outright rejected you and it's not my problem that you can't understand simple things like that."

Looking at her getting annoyed, the boy immediately changed his tone into a lighter one as he walked towards her while saying, "Kizhashi-san, come on. I'll surely treat you better than that other dude."

I knew that his only goal wasn't to ask her out, that's why he was getting so desperate when she was rejecting him. But it appeared like Kizhashi wasn't aware of his true intentions as she kept staring at him in confusion, "Uhh…"

"So is it a yes?" With a weird smile, he said as touched her shoulder and in an instant she shook his hand off her and there was a terrified look in her eyes as she stepped back and yelled, "Just leave me alone! Jeez!"

He was getting more irritated as his jaw was clenched and he was glaring at her with his bloodshot eyes. Kizhashi was quite scared, but she didn't ask for help even once. Was she trying to show that she didn't need my help anymore?

"Bitch, what's the attitude for? Huh!?" Yelling at her, the guy advanced his arm and went to grab her hand again, but before he could touch her, I grabbed his forearm as his eyes shifted towards me, "You… is she playing you too?"
