Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 149 - A Delinquent's Eyes

It was the day after the sports festival and the inter-school football match was that day too. Many people came to watch the match. I was interested in football and it was Gaisen's match so I went to watch too.

With this the sports festival is over, and the prize distribution is next week. Since it was Friday, we had two days of holidays, which was very convenient for people who were actually training hard for their events.

Though quite the time had passed since the match was already over, we were all heading towards our home. Kizhashi was really relieved that Gaisen could play the game since she was feeling responsible for his injury yesterday.

Gaisen and Tsūmen were basically hyping over the match, as Gaisen played well considering the sprain in his ankles. Since he wasn't very sure of whether or not he'll be able to play, he sat down the whole first half and it affected our team as we were almost losing.

Then, with the whistle of the second half, Gaisen came on the field and the other team knew that he was bad news, so they tried to foul him too many times. At one point, Nishimiya and others actually went into a fight with one of their players as he was targeting Gaisen.

But at the end of the day, our team won with one goal as the end score was 4-3. The last two goals were scored by Gaisen. The match was quite exciting in itself except for the dirty tricks the other team tried to pull now and then.

Though it was a friendly match, the opponents weren't thrilled about this outcome. The players of Seikei High were quite rude and had no fair play in them. During the match too, they tried to foul and even got booked a couple of times with yellow cards.

We were standing outside the main gates, as it was my usual group of friends. They were laughing and conversing among them. Saki was missing since she couldn't wake up in the morning.

Gaisen was in his white coloured jersey, which was sticking to his body as it was wet from all the sweat. His hair was all messy, too. He didn't change into another attire since it'll get dirty with his sweat too and he would have to wash both of it then.

The area near the school gate was filled with crowds as people who came to spectate the match were also leaving with other team players. It was really noisy around us.

Gaisen was talking with a few of his teammates. I was standing quietly while my eyes were wandering in all directions. In my peripheral vision, I caught the glance of a familiar figure.

I turned my head towards them to notice that Isobe was talking with a boy whom I remember seeing a month ago. I remember him by the weird blonde highlight in his hair. He was wearing the jersey of Seikei High too and I remember him playing in the match too.

The intimacy Isobe was showing. I assumed it was her boyfriend. Suddenly, from behind Isobe, the figure of Uyeno appeared too, and it seemed like they were talking about something serious with sudden frowns and tension on their faces.

That guy subtly glanced towards Kizhashi and continued talking with them with a nod. They were talking about her, and by the looks on their face, it wasn't something pleasant that they were discussing.

Uyeno knew pretty well what would happen with her if she decides to be bitch so I was pretty sure that she wouldn't do anything stupid, but then again it was Uyeno. I have to be careful about this now.

Judging by the looks of that guy, he gave off serious delinquent vibes, so he was bad news. And if he tried to do something with Kizhashi, then I'll have to use other methods. But I'll do my best to watch out for her, but I couldn't risk telling her about this.

Though I didn't think much of it at that time. While on my way back, I noticed that Gaisen was limping a bit again and honestly he was playing with an injury and on top of that the other team tried to purposely injure him, so I knew it was tough for him.

The only reason he wasn't saying anything was because of Kizhashi's sake. Also, looking at him reminded me of Naoto. She injured herself and got disqualified from the quarter finals. Though it was rather odd, I hoped she was doing well.

Last night Yuna texted me to talk about Naoto and the conversation carried on for quite some time, as I got to know that Vivian won the event. And everyone in the club was quite surprised by it too since Naoto wasn't the kind of person to make these kinds of mistakes.

I had my suspicions, but talking with Yuna made them clear. I just needed to talk with Naoto but unfortunately I didn't have her contact details.

I knew something was wrong with her yesterday. Those silent stares, sudden realisations, the turmoil of emotions she was hiding, and the strange look of resolve in her eyes. It was all starting to make sense.

Exchanging our goodbyes, we all parted our ways. Gaisen was quite happy with the results and Tsūmen was delighted too since yesterday as he won first place at the archery event too.

I finally reached home and rang the doorbell. Waiting in silence for Lilith to open the door, I heard footsteps approaching as the door knob rotated quickly with a clunk sound, and it opened. But the person who opened the door wasn't Lilith.

"Sai! I was waiting for you…" A very excited voice greeted me, as she looked at me with her hazel eyes while a warm smile appeared on her face. I could see Lilith standing behind her with a mischievous smile.

"Nee-chan?!" I exclaimed as I wasn't expecting her at all. What I was fearing the most ended up happening, after all.

Why am I so unlucky? Did Kizhashi un-luck me?!
