Solo Cultivation in The Apocalypse

Chapter 47 Funeral.

A bright bolt of lightning fell on a tree, the tree was burned from the top but soon turned back into its original form.

Kamiya clicked his tongue, he lifted his wand once again and cast another spell at an incoming vine, “air blast!” The air’s pressure sent the vine away, it snapped into two but regained its lost part quickly.

Kamiya started running away from the plants and trees, he continued to cast high-impact on contact spells such as blast, explosion, fire element, air blast, etc.

He inflicted good damage on the plants and trees but all of his efforts were marked wasted when they grew back into how they previously were.

“Lightning crash!” a thin bolt of lightning came out from Kamiya’s wand, he directed his wand down and the lightning bolt fell on a tree.

Seeing that the tree had regenerated, Kamiya retreated for now. Since he had dealt a lot of damage to the house guardian, the increase in his threat level increased the house guardian’s radius.

“Wait… this enchantment…” Kamiya clenched his wand, “the house guardian enchantment?” his eyes widened, “an- and… it is… activated!” he realized. His wand started shaking in his hand, his whole arm was trembling.

Kamiya gulped, he pushed his glasses back with hesitation. He slowly and hesitantly lifted his wand and pointed it at another branch of a tree.

“It is… activated,” he murmured once again. With anger, fear, and worry, Kamiya pointed his wand, “move, stupid tree!” a white spark of light killed the branch.

Kamiya started advancing through the front yard of Hitori’s house. On his sudden charge, the trees panicked and turned aggressive.

“I do not have time for you,” he blew up another tree.

He saw the door of Hitori’s house, it was shut tight but… it was at a distance of fewer than ten feet. He was close, very close.

“Tch!” a thick vine of a bramble plant grabbed Kamiya’s leg. He jumped in the air to dodge it first but the vine caught up with him.

After it wrapped its thick vine around Kamiya’s ankle, it started pulling him into the deep woods. Although it was still middle of the noon, the insides of the woods were not visible.

Kamiya grunted, he quickly grabbed his wand that was about to fall. With a frown, he lifted his wand at the bramble plan that was pulling him.

From around, the other plants were also trying to grab Kamiya and tear him into half or more pieces before the bramble plant gets him.

He pointed his ten and a half-inch wand at the bramble, “Flora killer!” he shouted.

A green ray of light followed through Kamiya’s wand landed on the bramble plant, in an instant, the plant was turned brown, and its vines shredded in the form of ash.

Kamiya landed hard on his hips, he quickly raised up to defend against the other trees that might attack him. He held his wand in front of his chest and turned around.

Not a single plant or a tree, not even a single tree from the forest were moving. They all had calmed down into their places as if they were normal trees.

Kamiya grabbed his right side of the hip, ‘it eats a lot of mana.’ with a frown, he grunted and made his way to the main door.

The lights were turned on and the dried up blood was right in front of Kamiya, it did not take him any time to spot the two bodies that were lying lifelessly.

“Hitori…” he saw the dried blood flowing on the ground. He quickly rushed around and his eyes caught the flasks of potion Hitori had brought for Kiku.

When he got closer, he saw another body… a woman’s body. Scared, Kamiya got up. He had only one way to make sure if the lady was still in the condition to be healed.

“Kami no Megumi: Iyashi.” he swirled his wand while aiming at Kiku’s dead body. Nothing happened. He did not lose his mana, the energy did not flow through Kiku’s body.

He dropped down, “…” his mouth dropped open, “she… she is dead.” he stuttered.

Kamiya lifted his eyes. The dining hall was tarnished with chairs thrown all over the hall, a few boxes were coming out from the storeroom, and… a broken wand was lying beside their bodies.

“Hitori!” Kamiya used a levitation spell to open up the flasks in the midair and push them down Hitori’s mouth.

He used the levitation spell again to make Hitori lay flat on the ground, “no way… just what happened here?” Kamiya glanced all over the ground floor of the house.

In an area with no background but only white glowing light, a girl was standing in front of him.

Tears were streaming down her eyes, she continuously sobbed with her hands clasped tightly below her chin.

The girl was no older than a thirteen-year-old middle school girl. But her red hair was longer than any average thirteen-year-old. In a distant area, her red hair flew along with the wind.

The young girl quickly opened her hands, turned her arm, and reached for the back of her neck. She took off a silver locket that she wore around her neck.

The girl rushed to a boy her age, went closer to him, and put her arms around his shoulders.

A thin boy with blue eyes and black hair kept staring at her as she tied the locket behind his neck. The girl took a few steps back after wearing her locket.

The boy who was staring at her started moving farther and farther away from her. The girl lifted her thin hand and waved at the boy while he went away from her.

The scene of the girl started blacking out slowly. Till nothing but pitch dark blackness remained.

“Aaah!!” with a big gasp, Hitori woke up from the ground. He started coughing and panting for air.

“Here,” he saw a glass of water floating beside him, “drink.” He did not bother looking at the kind person but gulped down the water quickly.

Hitori kept the glass down, he continued breathing heavily. His eyes moved to his right, then to his left where Kiku’s body rested under a cover.

A tall figure’s silhouette bent over him. Hitori looked up at the person with slipping glasses, “Kamiya…”

“Hitori…” Kamiya squatted down beside Hitori.

“H- how you-?” Kamiya raised his hand. He held a device with a black screen in his hands.

“I had enchanted my mobile phone with the tracker enchantment,” Kamiya replied, “to track down if it is stolen but…” he looked at Hitori, “thanks for taking it in.”

Hitori closed his mouth. He dropped his head down once again and to his left. Hitori raised his hand and placed it over the head of a lady covered with white covers.

Kamiya glanced at the dead body with a sorry look, “I… I am really sorry fo- for t- the loss of your…” he paused, “y- your…”

“Sister.” Hitori replied without moving his eyes from Kiku’s body, “she was my big sister,”

Kamiya’s eyes raised for a moment before he dropped his head down again. Without saying anything, Kamiya dropped himself on the cold floor.

His forehead creased back to normal, the tension over Kamiya’s face was released, “I see” Kamiya said.

They both sat on the floor for another few minutes before Hitori got up from the floor suddenly, “Kamiya…” he looked down at Kamiya, “I want to bury her,” he continued, “properly.”

Kamiya looked up at Hitori and gave him a nod, “but what about your parents?”

“I…” Hitori bit his lip, “I can not wait for them anymore,”

“Alright.” Kamiya got up from the floor too, “take your time healing from it. Just do not spend more than a week grieving over”

“I would not.” Hitori’s blunt reply stunned Kamiya, “she used her remaining mana to put me to sleep, just so that I do not spend the day crying in pain.”

“She… was an amazing sister,” Kamiya stammered. He looked down at Kiku.
