Shift! The Side-Character Heroine

Chapter 344

 Goddess of The Nation

On the next day, Zhao Youyue, also known as Ah Yu, was on the front pages of numerous magazines. Her face reveal was probably the most impactful in the history of live streaming. Such horrifying numbers!

A short live broadcast earning gifts worth more than 2,000,000 RMB.

Unbelievable!

Yet, it happened!

UC headline was “Shocking! Ah Yu broadcasted for two hours, and received gifts over 2,000,000 RMB, who was behind this”

This promoted news linked to a page that described this recent hotshot Zhao Youyue in a detailed manner.

The report reviewed Ah Yu’s broadcasting career from the beginning. She was a tepid broadcaster who slowly gained popularity, just like how she made it up to the top of national ranking number one in LoL.

Her career shot up a little when she voiced the character “Yu Shengfan.” Plus, with her different set of talents, she grabbed the title of the most popular female live streamer in ACGN. Still, there was a huge gap between her fame and the top broadcasters.

Circumstances changed rapidly the moment her identity was found out by her enthused fans, which left her no choice but to reveal herself. It was her beautiful angelic face that stunned the audience. Tycoons were mesmerized by her beauty, and dumped a huge load of money just to put a smile on her face.

Everybody thought the reason that she had kept her face hidden was because her appearance was plain and unattractive. The moment they realized the magnitude of their misconceptions, there was only joy and happiness in their hearts. She had been afraid that her beauty would only distract the audience from admiring her talents.

Of course, all these were merely audiences’ headcanon.

There was no other way to explain why Zhao Youyue had insisted on not showing her face, despite her beauty.

It was a bad era for the broadcasting industry, yet Ah Yu had managed to harvest millions in the form of gifts from tycoons. Her charm as a broadcaster was indeed powerful.

There was once a time when it was impossible to differentiate between fabricated popularity and authentic gifting. It was way back in the golden age of broadcasting, where any broadcaster could become and overnight millionaire. Media headlines and advertisements were all about broadcasters, and investors who willing to pay ridiculous prices to own a popular broadcaster.

After a long draught, Ah Yu ended the dry spell. Her Weibo followers broke through 5,000,000 right after she revealed her face!

The war of tycoons erupting around her stirred up the heat of her name in the Weibo search engine. The comments from netizens were as divided as they were.

“Another fabricated news? Why do I feel like we are back to couple years ago?”

“Douyu promoting a new face? Never heard of Ah Yu before.”

“I was there, and every penny spent was real! Boss Hao and Tian Shenluo are not marketing accounts.”

“I’m jealous of Ah Yu, just by receiving gifts her income broke through millions. Even a corporate full of people who have worked for ten years would not have earned that much money.”

“Gods of Tycoons are showing off their wealth again, it is so good to be rich!”

“Zhao Youyue is magnificent!”

There was almost no bad critics over Zhao Youyue, or Ah Yu, except for some envious comments. She did right by the people; people did right by her.

However, conspiracy theorists suggested that one man was behind all this. He had delicately planned to have Zhao Youyue ‘accidentally’ post her rehearsal on Weibo, and synthesize this old trick of gift war on her first broadcast with her face. With a strategist who had executed every step carefully and effectively, Zhao Youyue must have had the support of astroturfers!

After this incident, she became famous, with 7,000,000 followers on Douyu.

Nobody believed in such conspiracies. A real strategist was watching Zhao Youyue performances. Some of them admired her talent, defending her by claiming that the Zhao Family had never signed with any management agencies, and that she was capable of sparking her own fire, turning herself into such an unstoppable star.

The leader of some astroturfers stepped out to clear such accusation, claiming that they had done nothing behind the scenes. It was all the support of the public!

She won the heart of the public in every way, hence the support and commendations she received were all sincere.

A question soon appeared in Zhihu which caught the attention of all gurus, “How to evaluate broadcaster Ah Yu.” They searched every dark corner of paparazzi, and yet they found nothing but the vengeful and hateful words she spoke when she mimicked the character Yu Shengfan.

However, these sentences which contained no vulgar words carried no value at all. It only served to prove why she had been chosen as that character’s voice actress.

Some critics praised her voice acting skills, saying that she brought the soul out of Yu Shengfan!

Her talent in music was undisputed as well. The music she composed was beyond compare. Every piece of her music was so smooth and beautiful; most people kept them playing in endless loops.

The community of classical music recognized Zhao Zouyue as the real life Chu Luoxun. The music she composed did not insult the image of that character, but gave the character more solidity, to the extent that the impression carved itself into the memories of the audience.

Some professors affirmed that Zhao Youyue’s excellent result in high school academically and co-curricular had entitled her a reserved place in the two best universities. It was rare for a student to maintain excellent academic results and to show remarkable talent the way she did.

In short, she had impressed every professional critic in different industries; each expressing their admiration in different ways. Zhao Youyue’s fans were delighted and proud of the idol they supported.

She was now known as the “Goddess of The Nation.”

The Paparazzi had their eyes on Zhao Youyue, sniffing around for any rumors, hoping to find something related to romance. It was impossible to make any news out of her; she was as clean as a tulip!

Zhao Youyue did not pay these online activities any heed. She had bigger matters to attend to; she was going to tell her parents about her internet fame, and was hypothesizing their possible reactions
