Retired Villainess Transmigrates into a Cannon Fodder

Chapter 94

“In spite of that, I really do still admire Chu Xiang. After all, she had once stood at the peak of the industry while I have yet to achieve anything.”

At that point, everyone had disregarded their previous discussion as the topic had shifted towards Chu Xiang, which proved just how much attention was directed towards her right now. Having yet to show herself in public, she had already stolen the limelight as many people would subconsciously start talking about her. However, this type of attention would be short-lived, for everyone would forget about her after the discussions about her divorce got boring. When that time came, it would be extremely difficult to receive the same amount of attention. If that were to happen, all her efforts would surely be in vain.

Understanding that, Uncle Dong spent his entire day connecting Chu Xiang with several TV programs and commercials. Since he was extremely well-known in the entertainment industry, many people gave him face and extended a helping hand. Consequently, he was able to find a reality show with decent popularity for her.

This program was called [Household Tasks] and included five permanent male celebrities with different roles in the industry such as an actor, a manager, and even a singer. Furthermore, there would be random esteemed guests joining them every week. Sometimes, it would be one person. Other times, it would be a group of people. Both the tasks assigned to them and the number of esteemed guests would vary.

Uncle Dong discussed with the team of the program about letting Chu Xiang join for a week. In the end, they decided that each of the five hosts would be inviting one of their friends to the show. It just so happens that one of the hosts had filmed a TV series with Chu Xiang before. Having acted as master and disciple in the series, it would be perfectly reasonable for him to invite Chu Xiang. When the ten of them split into different groups and were assigned different tasks, it would all depend on Chu Xiang herself whether she would attract a large amount of attention or be neglected the entire time.

Chu Xiang was still a hot topic at this time. Contrary to the hate messages on the microblogging website, her image was actually not as bad as they made it out to be. Without any solid evidence of the online speculations, the team of the program decided to take her on as one of the esteemed guests. Since the program would be aired on TV, Lin Jiawei would have no way of reaching his hands into the show and sabotaging Chu Xiang.

Aside from that one TV program, Uncle Dong managed to get Chu Xiang into another program called [Are Celebrities Capable Or Not?] This specific program dealt with the daily lives of four different hosts. Every Saturday, each of the four hosts would have a live broadcast where they found something to do on their own in their daily lives as the main entertainment of the show. Similar to the previous program, each host would invite a friend as a guest of the show every week, and the number of friends they invite would not matter. The most important aspect for each host was to display how capable they were in the things that they frequently do. After all, this was the main idea of the show.

Coincidentally, there happened to be a celebrity who signed with Glorious Star Entertainment starring in the program. Thus, he was requested to invite Chu Xiang and one other celebrity from Glorious Star Entertainment into the show as guests.  If Chu Xiang displayed any aspects of her true character that the audience might like, she would naturally attract many fans without anyone doubting the legitimacy of the program.

After introducing the programs to Chu Xiang, Uncle Dong asked whether or not she had any opinions on them.

Chu Xiang nodded and smiled “Since these programs are quite interesting, there shouldn’t be any problems. Besides, I’m not afraid of bearing any hardships. So, when will the programs take place?”

“[Are Celebrities Capable Or Not?] will be filmed tomorrow. Although the guests have already been selected beforehand, we’ll just say you were part of that selected group, so it should not affect you very much. [Household Tasks] will be filmed next weekend in about ten or so days. You will have the time to prepare yourself before then.”

“Alright, I will put that into my schedule. Uncle Dong, please let me know beforehand if there are any changes to the schedule so that I can prepare myself. If there’s nothing else to discuss, I will be taking my leave a bit earlier today to get a better understanding of the program being filmed tomorrow.”

“No problem.”

As soon as Chu Xiang took her leave, Uncle Dong could not help but burst out laughing while shaking his head. After all, he had always been the one who ordered people around and shouted at the celebrities that he was in charge of. On the other hand, it felt as if Chu Xiang was the one bossing him around — occasionally reminding him of President Zhou.

After finalizing the procedures with the teams of the programs, Uncle Dong reported everything regarding Chu Xiang’s comeback plan to Zhou Ye.

Placing complete trust in his subordinates, Zhou Ye had no intentions of interfering with their decisions. He simply nodded his head to show that he understood their plan. Looking through the programs that Chu Xiang would be participating in, however, he then asked, “Will she be participating in this program? Didn’t the group for the program make a name for themselves recently?”
