Retired Villainess Transmigrates into a Cannon Fodder

Chapter 79

Chu Xiang stood higher than ever before in life while Bai Xuewei lived on the lowest rung of society, working non-stop in order to survive. Furthermore, Chu Xiang was blessed with the presence and love of Xiao Han. On the other hand, Bai Xuewei could only be taken advantage of by the swines from her workplace. Although Bai Xuewei was unwilling to live such a life, she could only endure the pain if she wanted to survive. Throughout this lifetime, the feeling of defeat against Chu Xiang would constantly haunt her as she would forever live in Chu Xiang’s shadow.

Even though Chu Xiang had already achieved many things by taking over the Ye Group, she nevertheless refused to take it easy just yet as she proceeded to expand her knowledge by working with other businesses overseas. Whenever Chu Dongqi went overseas for his business trips, Chu Xiang would follow him to assist with the projects.

Seeing how Chu Xiang would be overseas most of the time, Xiao Han volunteered to go with her in Chu Dongqi’s stead. After arriving in a foreign country, he would not have to compete with Chu Dongqi and Fang Qing for Chu Xiang any more as he would have plenty of time to stay by her side and slowly grow with her as the day passed. Ever since Xiao Han fell in love with Chu Xiang, he had learned many different things through his interactions with her — placing great emphasis on keeping up with the trends and staying fresh. Not only did he find ways to make Chu Xiang smile, he also stand by her side to keep other men from getting any funny ideas.

Chu Dongqi and Fang Qing had already gotten used to Xiao Han’s frequent appearance. While they realized that their daughter would learn faster from Xiao Han, they did not know what methods Xiao Han used to teach her since Chu Xiang had already sucked all of his knowledge and experience dry.

Furthermore, the discussions of projects would be even more efficient when Xiao Han accompanied Chu Xiang in her meetings. After all, the two of them already had a mutual understanding of each other through past cooperations. With each successful project, the results they achieved were even better than the previous. Seeing these results, the Xiao Group did not interfere with their relationship either. Since Chu Xiang was a workaholic, Xiao Han would also work overtime to stay by her side. Thus, the Xiao Group was also developing at a much faster rate.

Many people had great expectations for their relationship. They predicted that when Chu Xiang and Xiao Han united, their companies would definitely soar to the peak of the business industry.

After Chu Xiang graduated from university, Chu Dongqi and Fang Qing finally decided that it was time for them to retire, passing the torch to Chu Xiang and leaving the Dongfang Corporation to her. Even then, Chu Xiang did not lose the title of the “Cold-Blooded Demon Queen” as she continued to take the industry by storm and produce great achievements in her lifetime.

President Xiao had already proposed to her countless times; however, it was not until Chu Xiang turned thirty-five years old that she finally accepted his marriage proposal. Keeping his promise from long ago, Xiao Han brought Chu Xiang to a private island for their honeymoon for a week. Taking charge of the company during their honeymoon, Chu Dongqi and Fang Qing could not help but grumble behind their backs, saying how a wolf had snatched away their family’s little rabbit. It seemed that cooperating with the Xiao Group had indeed attracted a wolf into their house.

Holding the marriage certificate in his hands, Xiao Han sighed a breath of relief as he no longer needed to worry about anyone else making a move on Chu Xiang, for he now had an official document.

Gently bringing Chu Xiang into his embrace, Xiao Han looked over the horizon and asked, “Although you have rejected my marriage proposal so many times in the past, why did you casually accept it this time without hesitation?”

Closing her eyes and leaning into his warm embrace, Chu Xiang felt the ocean breeze as she replied with a smile, “Who wouldn’t be charmed by a person who longed for them even after fifteen whole years? Seeing how you still love me even after so long, wouldn’t it be nice to live the rest of my life with you? A few decades pass by in the blink of an eye anyways.”

Xiao Han noticed a sudden alarm in his heart. If she were to lose interest in him sometime in the future, would she regret her decision to marry him? Thus, he was determined to keep their relationship firm by maintaining the novelty of their experiences so that she would never be interested in anyone else.

Realizing how little time she had to live in this lifetime, Chu Xiang opened her eyes. “I’m already more than satisfied with these few days spent with you. Why don’t we go back in the evening? After all, we still have another cooperation to discuss.”

“Sure,” Xiao Han responded as he suddenly disliked the idea of working. Having been dominated with a mountain of work over the past years, he had received a fright for work that would last for the rest of his lifetime. Since his wife was so immersed in her work, how would he make her direct the same passion she has for work to him instead?

President Xiao had been thinking about this exact question for his entire life. Luckily for him, the illuminating rays of the sun shone only for the first half of the day while the dusk of the night reigned in the other. Thus, he was at least able to occupy her for half of the twenty-four hours. During this half, he would enjoy the queen’s exclusive attention for him to the greatest extent — nevertheless a blessed life in its own right.
