Retired Villainess Transmigrates into a Cannon Fodder

Chapter 123

Throughout the day, Chu Xiang had purposely filled her schedule with various activities. Only after completing her dance class — her final activity on her agenda — could she finally go back home and relax for the day. Facing the mirror that stretched across the training room, Chu Xiang practiced dancing non-stop as she lifted her arms and legs. She would repeat each basic motion several dozens of times. Her results quickly became apparent, for she felt much more in control of her body and limbs. Dancing as gracefully as a swan, she glowed with the lingering sense of true beauty.

Watching her from the side, her dancing coach erupted into a round of applause. “Very good! You have improved drastically from our previous class. Anyways, this should be enough practice for the day. As for our next session, I will have you perform a rather difficult dance to gauge your current skill level. Make sure to prepare yourself for that time. Don’t get too worn out before then.”

Wiping the sweat off her face with a towel, Chu Xiang replied, “Alright, thanks for your hard work today, Coach! I’ll make sure to get you some souvenirs from my next live broadcast and have Xiao Tao send it over to your office. Please let me know your opinion on them. If they’re to your liking, I’ll remember to get you more the next time I go back there.”

With the slight lift of her chin, Chu Xiang bid farewell to her dancing coach. As soon as her coach left, she took a quick shower in the locker room and dried her hair before going back home.

Just as the door to the elevator slid open, Chu Xiang ran into Zhou Ye. She smiled amiably and walked in. “Director Zhou, have you just gotten off work?”

Zhou Ye nodded, then leaned against the elevator wall and smiled. “I’m bored, so I decided to get off work early. What about you? Have you just finished practicing? Are you going back to the dorms?”

“That’s right.”

“In that case, allow me to take you back. Besides, I want to talk to you about something.”

“Of course, it would be an honor to have my boss send me back home.” Chu Xiang chuckled as she walked out of the elevator. She then gave Brother Yong a call and told him to go back first.

Seeing Zhou Ye’s car, Chu Xiang realized that it was different from the one she remembered. Compared to the previous one, this was far more flashy.

Noticing Chu Xiang’s analysis of the car, Zhou Ye spun the keys around his finger and laughed. “What do you think? It isn’t bad, right? I just bought it recently.”

“I happened to see this car in a magazine yesterday. Isn’t it a limited edition? It’s truly magnificent. Anyone’s mood would naturally brighten when sitting in a good car.” Chu Xiang walked around the car with sparkling eyes  before finally getting into the passenger seat. Sitting in a car that was far more comfortable than her Toyota Alphard, she could not help but mutter, “I should hurry up and get my own car soon.”

Zhou Ye raised his eyebrows. “Miss Chu, are you trying to hint at something?”

“Not at all, but if the director is willing, I would certainly not mind either.” Putting on her pair of sunglasses, she sat in a comfortable position and relaxed.

“Haha! Isn’t Miss Chu also investing now? If you happen to make it big, getting yourself a car wouldn’t be much of a problem. Anyways, what did you invest in? Why don’t you tell me? I’m willing to give you my opinions and some advice. A person without any experience in investing can easily spiral down into the abyss.”

Chu Xiang lay with her eyes closed. “I won’t trouble Director Zhou any longer. Besides, I’m rather confident that I won’t suffer any losses. As for the money Director Zhou invested into me, I will definitely pay back the debt in full. Hmm…? Surely, you aren’t concerned about my financial matters… right? Do you have something else that you’re worried about?”

With a look of surprise, Zhou Ye turned his gaze towards Chu Xiang’s face. “You really do look similar to Mo Xinru. I assume that you already know about the news floating around the internet over the past few days, right? Do you really not have any sort of biological connection with the Mo Family?”

“Hehe, it seems that Director Zhou also likes to join in on the gossip occasionally. If the Mo Family really did have this kind of secret, shouldn’t you know more about it than me?”

“Haha… I spent the majority of my childhood and teenage years growing up in City B. Only after finishing my studies did I finally move into this city. That’s why I indeed do not know much about the Mo Family’s private matters. Have you really never pondered why you look so similar to her?”

“The oldest memories I have go as far back as my days in the orphanage. My name was given to me by the people there, and I wasn’t given any sort of keepsake either. Judging from Mo Xinru’s background, if her family really did lose me as a child, I don’t see how they couldn’t have found me. Unless… everything was set up this way on purpose. Thus, I will treat this as a mere coincidence even if there really was a link between me and the Mo Family. Besides, do you think that it would be a good idea to associate with the Mo Family?”
