Retired Villainess Transmigrates into a Cannon Fodder

Chapter 115

He smiled, “I was afraid that the two of you would’ve already moved on to the next mission. It turned out that you ended up having to rely on me.”

As the director shot out signal flares one after another, Chu Xiang and Xu Qian stood back up and chuckled on the side. Xu Qian clapped her hands and cheered Iron Ox on.

“Good luck, Brother Ox! It’s finally your turn to show the viewers what you’re made of!”

Since both Iron Ox and the guest he invited were guys who often worked out, the barbells weighing a hundred kilograms did not pose much trouble for them. Each of them lifted ten of the barbells onto the shelf and finished the second mission for both groups.

Immediately after, the four of them grouped up and placed each of their hands together in the middle before exclaiming, “Good luck on the final mission!”

Just as they were about to leave for the next mission, Liang Zhen’s group, placing third in the standings, had only walked over from the maze. Upon seeing the barbells in front of him, he quickly chased after Iron Ox as if his life depended on it.

“Iron Ox! Don’t leave yet! Why don’t you help us too? Surely, you aren’t just going to help the ladies and leave your brother behind to suffer, right?”

Iron Ox shoved him away with an indifferent expression. “We were only fulfilling our promise to them, so we won’t be helping you. Hope you enjoy yourself~!”

Since Liang Zhen seldom exercised, he would naturally find it difficult to lift ten of those 100kg weights, even with the help of his partner. Left behind, the two of them looked down at the barbells with lifeless expressions and muttered, “Well… what are we going to do about this?”

Since each mission in the broadcast was created with the purpose to entertain its audience one way or another, Liang Zhen and his partner decided that they must work together to finish the mission at hand. Of course, it was also unreasonable for Iron Ox to help everyone out with this task. Otherwise, they show would not be worth watching. Therefore, the two of them looked into the camera and wailed in anguish before proceeding to fulfill their assigned mission.

When the group in fourth place walked out of the maze, they stood petrified as they witnessed the torture that the third-place group underwent. As such, they immediately began stirring up trouble. After all, they only had so much time left before being disqualified as the team in fourth place. Even if they managed to complete the second mission, they would not be able to advance to the next one. However, their protesting could not compare to the howls of grief emitted by Liang Zhen and his partner.

As the half-an-hour time limit for the maze came to an end, the film crew used the broadcasting system to announce the disqualification of Qin Bao and Zhu Yujia’s team. With that, their perspective was immediately cut from the live broadcast while the staff led them out from the maze and told them that their job here was done.

Without any camera lenses directed at him, Qin Bao’s happy-go-lucky attitude towards Zhu Yujia disappeared as he turned around and left coldly.

Biting her lips in frustration, she ran over to her assistant and asked, “Was my performance just now that bad?”

Her assistant threaded the conversation carefully and muttered, “Miss Yujia, in the latter half of the live broadcast, you looked as if you were only looking for Chu Xiang. There were even two moments when you refused to follow Brother Qin’s decision and ended up walking into dead ends. Many of his fans are even accusing you of dragging him down.

Knitting her brows tightly, Zhu Yujia hobbled slightly towards Qin Bao and apologized earnestly, “Brother Qin, I apologize for my performance today. I seem to have only been a heavy burden on you the entire time after injuring my ankle. I truly wanted to get first-place, but I seem to have asked for more thanI could handle. I’m sorry for being such an inconvenience to you.”

Qin Bao waved his hand. “It’s fine… Anyways, I’ll be taking my leave first.”

With that, Zhu Yujia could only say her thanks to the filming crew and the organizers before leaving the area. As soon as she got into the car, her anger poured out.

Lin Jiawei gave her a great opportunity with the singular task of making things difficult for Chu Xiang. But how could she have been able to think of a plan to do so within two hours? The only thing she could think of was to somehow injure Chu Xiang and prevent her from getting too much screen time in the live broadcast. After all, the screen time served as the most important resource for someone like Chu Xiang who had just made her comeback into the entertainment industry. However, the person who left after the half-hour time limit ended up being her instead.

As such, she regretted her hasty decision to chase after Chu Xiang in the latter half of the live broadcast. Instead, she should have focused on looking for the cards. It would have, at the very least, ensured the conditions of their escape. But having rejected doing so, in addition to the sharp pain in her ankle, she ended up suffering a double loss after trying to take more than she could handle.
