Chapter 1

When Kim Jin-Woo was born, the woman he was supposed to call ‘mother’ died. In the times when he needed her warm embrace the most, he instead grew up suckling on the smelly teats of a beast instead of his mother’s soft ones.

As soon as he became old enough to walk on his own feet, he was forced to carry foul-smelling sacks. This was his job as a tunnel digger.

The work of a tunnel digger–assigned to him by force–was harsh for a young man. It was a dreadful job, as even adults in similar situations died on a daily basis.

But the young man clenched his teeth hard and endured. Like him, many people had to endure such harsh labor in the savage environment of the underground world, which could turn into a battlefield at any moment.

“You are now free.”

One day, the masters of the hundred thousand labyrinths released their prisoners after losing against the humans on the surface.

Many left the hellish labyrinth and walked out to embrace the warm sunlight. These individuals, born and raised in the labyrinths, were known as dungeon babies.
