Chyou gasped at the sight of an ice cream parlor. “O.M.G! So this was your plan.”
Yating said, “I feel guilty for the half ice cream you had to sacrifice for my sake. So you can eat all the ice cream you want to your heart’s content here.”
“I am supposed to be on a diet.”
“I am sure you will burn off the calories.”
“I am not supposed to be doing this. My sweet manager can become quite demonic you know.”
“Nobody will know if nobody speaks of tonight,” he smiled. “It’s only you and me and my lips are zipped.”
Chyou wiped her imaginary emotional tears. “As my loyal subject, I will be sure to give you a handsome raise in your salary.”
He raised his brow. “Thank you, my Queen. I really needed that raise.”
Once inside, Chyou peered at the different ice cream flavors with gleaming and glittering eyes. “There are too many options. I want to try out new flavors too!”
“Go ahead then.”
She shuddered in horror. “So many ice cream scoops will kill me. My manager will wring my neck herself.”
He sighed. “The dark reality of the entertainment industry.”
The attendant behind the service area chirped and grinned. “Sir, Mam I suggest why not try out the couple ice cream scoops~ We have launched a new ice cream set for couples only~”

There are things like that too? Couple ice cream set?

Yating smiled at the attendant. “We are not a couple. I just brought her here for a treat.”
Chyou sighed in relief.
The attendant blinked twice. “Of course you are a couple. My eyes can never fail me.”

Chyou’s brow twitched heavily. “Why are you so insistent that we are a couple?”
She laughed. “You give that vibe. It’s so crystal clear. Even a blind man would see it~”
She then rolled her eyes. “Seriously, your older generation is so slow and secretive.”
Yating and Chyou stared at her speechlessly. The attendant seemed to be around nineteen or twenty years old so there was definitely a generation gap between them.
“In my college, people don’t waste time at all~ In fact I also have a very loving boyfriend~ We confessed soon after we came into the same classes,” she shyly said.
I should have chosen a different ice cream parlor, Yating thought to himself.
“Oh my who confessed to who?” Chyou excitedly asked.
Yating face palmed.
Why are you interested in her love story now?
The attendant beamed. “It was him. It was so romantic. He confessed to me on the rooftop under the pleasant warm sunlight and the breeze blowing. Just like I wanted my confession to happen! It was so dreamy~”
“Aaahhh that’s so cute!” She squealed.
Chyou forgot all about the misunderstanding and was completely invested in the attendant’s love story.
“And then it turned out he learned that I am an avid reader of novels and comics. So he recreated my favorite confession scene for us,” her eyes teared up. “He is so thoughtful.”
Chyou’s eyes rimmed with tears emotionally. He poked Yating’s arm. “Do you have a handkerchief on you?”

He lended her his handkerchief and she wiped her teary eyes with it. “Thank you very much.”

Yating choked and coughed. “Is that so?”
She nodded hard. “I would really love to meet them one day! They are nothing less than idols to me! Just like Queen Zhu Chyou. Aaahhhh, she is a Goddess!” She squealed.
Chyou’s eyes sparkled. “You love them?”
“A lot! I love books and movies a lot~ They are the best in their respective fields.”
Chyou threw a sheepish grin at Yating.

Chyou grabbed the tray without any hesitation. “I am starving now! Let’s put the misunderstanding aside for now,” she sighed helplessly.
At the table where the tray lay in between them, there formed an awkward silence.
Yating cleared his throat in an attempt to dissipate the awkwardness. “It’s all yours.” 𝑖𝘦.𝘤𝑜𝘮
“O-Of course! I had to sacrifice my precious ice cream so naturally, all of this is mine,” she coughed, unable to meet his eyes for some reason.
Chyou looked away, hesitant as took ice cream bites.
Yating tapped his finger on the table as nobody talked. Eventually, he said unable to bear the silence any longer. “You really don’t have to take her words to heart.”
“I am not doing that.”
“Your gaze is troubled. You don’t have to lie to me. Neither you need validation of your and Cheng Yin’s relationship from anybody. So…don’t look like you need to prove anything to anybody.”
