Rebirth: Over the Horizon

"Adam, Come here for a bit!"

Arian shouted from inside the huge bird's nest.

Kicking the wall and jumping, when adam reached where Risa was, what he saw were one bright blue coloured egg, and five medals.

"This the monster birds?"

"No, the size and colours are different maybe it picked it up from somewhere I can't tell what egg is it from"

"Whether you take it or not, you can't summon the monster inside, if you made it as a familiar, you will really have a hard time levelling up"

"That's right. I am only going to make it as my familiar after reaching level 50, so don't worry"

"Then, that's good"

After sorting out the things, two of them went out of the nest and walked towards the magic circle.

"There are three magic circles?"

As Ariana has said, there were three magic circles that appeared.

It should be proper to think that they are connected to completely different places.

"Adam, which one should it be?"

"I think, it would best to go where few battles happen"

Ariana walked around while thinking for a while, and stopped in front of one of the magic circles.

"This one!"

"Your will is my command" adam made a dramatic bow and both of them entered the magic circle and become a light and disappeared.

What remained was the battered ground, the proof that a fierce battle happened here.

The twos appearance emerged from the magic circle.

Both of them confirmed the surroundings.

Surrounding them were ruins that had spread. There was plenty of marks of buildings being destroyed.

Guessing from the position of the mountainous area, it looks like their location is on the opposite location of their starting point.

"At least, we got to a good direction huh?"

"Yep, but more than anything I want a place to rest?"

While searching for a safe place, the two walked around the ruins, they spotted a group of 8 people, adam stopped on his tracks "What do you think?

"If possible, I don't want to fight other's even though our CD has finished and mana has been restored, I'm very tired"

It is true they can use a potion to recover HP and MP but, fatigue is another thing.

"I got it. Then, let's go in the opposite direction"

The two walked quietly through the ruins and into the forest.

Spiders and owls were among the monsters that emerged.

Looking at them after the giant bird, whatever creature it is, they appear to be little fry.

Although their motions are slow, golems took care of these minor issues.

They advanced deeper into the jungle. What they're looking for is a place to sleep for the night.

They took plenty of time climbing, so the sun is already setting.

The two continued to explore the forest while defeating monsters.

"There is nothing" Ariana muttered, she plopped on the ground.

Surrounding them was only a forest that was spreading, and there seems to be no special buildings or caves.

"For the meantime, let's climb on top of a higher tree. I think its better than being on the ground"

Adam used 'FLY' to re-locate their position to one of the big trees which surrounded them.

There would probably be no players that would prefer climbing one without branches on the lower places appearing.

The two rested their backs on the trunk of the tree and took a breath.

"Hey adam, can we explore gain after 12 hours, What do you think?"

It means, what Ariana wants to say is, after taking a break for a while 12 hours, she would like to explore again.

There was also the jungle incident the other day, implying that there should be an event that appears at specific times.

Adam's ambition is to win at least 7 gold medals, and he recalls Yuna winning 5 gold medals and first place at the end of the event in his last life.

He can't be certain that this will remain the same; after all, he's been responsible for a lot of changes since his rebirth.

In the middle of the night where even the sounds of the monsters moving got quiet, the to climbed down from the tree.

Since Ariana had recovered, she urged him to explore right away. Since Adam's VIT is quite normal he also got time to recover himself

"The forest, or the ruins. Which one?" adam asked.

"Hum, the forest! There were also players in the ruins earlier so, it probably got explored"

"Then, Let's go"

The two made their way deeper into the woods.

Occasionally, owls would charge without making a sound, but Adam effortlessly avoided them with his own dodging talents, while Ariana ignored them because Adam's golems were defending her.

Adam noticed something shiny in the distance after trekking for an hour.

"We have to be cautious because it may be a player."

Following Adam's instructions, they proceeded quietly and arrived at the location.

After a few seconds, they found that the bright light is nothing more than a medal, but he was happy as it was a gold medal.

Just, when adam was intending to grab it.

A creature emerges from the ancient tree's bark, at first seeming as a new branch before hardening into a woman's torso.

Her hair falls in a cascade of leaves about her naked shoulders, and she has a wild and unfathomable look in her eyes.

Her skin is the same brown as the arbour from which she came, and as she leans forward, two long and delicate legs emerge from the tree, allowing her to entirely exit the tree.

Her wooden lips part and when she speaks it is as though he as very self has fallen out of his body. Her voice is a whisper but it echoes through the trees, rasping and yet as clear as a stream.

"You…should…not…have…come…here."

Her voice has the breathy quality of wind across a hollow log. Her warning chills adam's bones. And her black eyes are infinite and contain a fury that causes the grass at her feet to wilt and die.
