One Useless Rebirth

Chapter 123 - Lucky Bead (2)

Chapter 123: Lucky Bead (2)

Translator: Sissy That Walk

He had always been single, both in this life and in the previous one, and as such, he was not sure whether his animal nature would get the better of him when he was lying in bed naked with someone he liked. After all, when Xing Shaofeng was around just now, he had already stepped out of the line.

But then again, if it turned out that he was wrong about his feelings, and in fact he didn’t actually want Di Qiuhe in that way, then a test to ascertain his true feelings would be necessary. But if he was right about his feeling all along, and the above mentioned scenario did come to pass in which he ended up traumatizing the already unfortunate Di Qiuhe…

The two thoughts fought a fierce fight in his mind, He Bai was torn.

He changed to a better sleeping position and after much deliberation, he decided to sleep alone as he didn’t want any trouble for Di Qiuhe. After he made that decision, his otherwise strained nerve soothed a lot and the already worn out body drove him to the slumber land

With a plunging sound, He Bai’s hand fell down to the lower side of his chair.

As soon as Di Qiuhe heard that, he turned around and as he saw what had happened, his heart softened a bit. He grabbed He Bai’s hand, trying to put it back to his laps, but when he touched his hand, he found it hard to let go, and since he was driving an automatic car, he felt it safe to just hold onto He Bai’s hand.

‘If Little Puppy wakes up, he would definitely scold him for being a lousy driver with a terrible driving habit… What a nagging bastard.’ thought Di Qiuhe.

His lips curved up, a note of gentle smile flashing across his eyes.

But He Bai’s hand was really slim… The smile was replaced by a tinge of concern as Di Qiuhe loosened his grip on his hand.

When they got back to City B, he would find a way to help Little Puppy gain some weight. If Little Puppy didn’t want to be fed, then … Some erotic thoughts came up in his head and his ear immediately went flushed.

By the time they reached the hotel, He Bai was waked up. Still in a daze, he followed Di Qiuhe into the lobby. Hardly when he was about to be taken to the elevator did he come back to his senses. He rushed to the reception desk and booked a single room with his ID.

By the time when Di Qiuhe realized what had just happened and walked over, there was a room card in He Bai’s hand.

“Little Puppy, what are you doing? Di Qiuhe frowned.

“Booking a room.” He Bai replied while letting out a yawn. He put back his ID and turned to look at Di. He replied as the drowsiness gradually left him, “You are busy with the shooting and you should get more rest. I am a bad sleeper and will likely to disturb you. Trust me, you will be better off if we sleep separately.

Di Qiuhe’s face went dark and he stretched out his hand to grab that room card, “You are not a bad sleeper. The film crew has booked the whole floor and I will get worried if you sleep on a different floor. Return the room key. We can sleep in the same room.”

“No, I want my own room. Relax, it’s a big hotel. I have booked a room directly above yours. I can find you easily.” He Bai put the card into his pocket and patted on his chest. He winked at him with a dimple showing up in his left cheek. “You are supposed to get up early tomorrow to go to the set. Go back to sleep. I have work to do and I should have sleep early.”

Di Qiuhe cast a look at his chest and stood there without a single word.

The curious staff at the reception desk looked over to see what was going on.

‘He was really upset over this. How clingy and naïve.’

He Bai sighed inwardly and stepped up to grab his arm. Together they turned around. He grabbed the suitcase with one hand, and led Di to the elevator, all the while consoling him, “Well, don’t be mad. You know what? Just a few days ago, I made a small fortune out of a task and bought you a gift. Care to guess what it is?”

The two were walking side by side, but somehow Di felt empty like he was losing someone he liked. Even the promise of a gift couldn’t get him excited.

Di entered the elevator and pressed on the button to his floor. He then turned sideways, blocking the panel. Instead of ignoring He Bai’s question like any angry man would do, he reluctantly guessed, “Food? Clothes? Watch? Or some electronic devices?”

Looking at his frustrated face, He Bai felt amused. Instead of pressing on his floor button, he poked at Di’s cheek and smiled, “You looked ugly with this stern face.”

Di frowned and crimped his lips as he turned around to ignore He Bai.

He Bai hurriedly squeezed his nose to turn him around and produced a box out from his pocket. He opened the box and took a black bracelet with three lucky beads adorned.

Di widened up his eyes, but this time it was because he was pissed off.

He thought there will be something else coming out of that box.

“I get this from a temple. It’s got your zodiac sign on the central bead and the ones on each side are lucky beads. People say they will bring luck to you if you carry them along long enough.” He Bai raised his hand up and helped him with the bracelet. He poked at the bracelet and looked up to look at him with a smiling face, “It fits you. I tried hard to get your size right.”

The bracelet was made of leather and so it wouldn’t felt too cold. There are two gold beads along with a gold inlaid with jade. There was a gold ingot right below the jade that didn’t seem to match what he was wearing. But surprisingly, it fitted well with his character.

Di Qiuhe stroked the lucky bead that were on his wrist and slowly started to feel less angry. He then looked at his panda eyes and put the hands into his jeans and asked, “Busy recently?”

Seeing that he was willing to speak, He Bai suddenly felt relaxed and smiled, “Not quite, but I was thinking about taking on more tasks to make more money. I need the money to buy me a small house before the end of this year. I celebrated New Year’s Eve last year in the rental house and I prefer to spend this year in my own house.”

The elevator arrived at his floor after he finished those words and immediately he walked out with his suitcase. He turned around and said, “You are more than welcome to visit me at my new house.”

Upon hearing this, Di hurriedly followed and said bluntly, “No need for a new house. You can stay with me during the New Year.”

With his heart thumping, He Bai frowned, suppressing his desire to turn back. He then replied with a smile, “Thanks. But I think I am going to buy a house anyway. I will be a year-four student in college and I need to intern outside the campus. It doesn’t feel right to not have a place of my own. As for the New Year, I suggest you spend more time with your grandfather during New Year. He’s had it rough when he was out wandering around the world.”

Before he could finish his words, they’ve arrived at Di’s room. He Bai halted, stooping down to put down the suitcase. He pulled a second box out of it and placed that box into Di’s hand. He smiled, “This is the second gift. Well, I’ve got to go rest. Good night.” As soon as he finished that, he grabbed the suitcase and fast walked a few steps. He then took a turn and climbed up the stairs.
