Never Judge

Chapter 319 - 319

When they entered Eric was holding Katerina's hand. As they passed the lobby Cedric quickly pulled his wife towards him and kissed her.

"You really don't need my help any more." Cedric told her lovingly.

"Don't I get a thank you? And a kiss?" Eric teased the younger man.

"Really older brother?" Cedric said, putting an emphasis on the word older, he knew Eric was very sensitive about his age.

Eric rolled his eyes at Cedric and walked into the dinning area with Katerina while discussing something with Alexi.

When they returned the fathers were already back and were in deep conversation.

"We're finally complete." Priscilla Reyes said happily as her son and daughter-in-law sat down. "What took you guys so long?"

"There was an annoying fly at the entrance." Katerina complained. "Don't worry, the staff dealt with them." She said with a grin.

Everyone sat and chatted happily over lunch, recently everyone had been quite gloomy due to Jam's death, but today things were different, things were lighter. The parents couldn't help but notice that Veronica was no longer cold towards Miguel. As a matter of fact, when she arrived she went up to him and kissed him. Miguel held her tight as if she would suddenly disappear.

"So are we getting any grandkids soon?" Victoria Abad teased her daughter.

"Mom." Veronica complained as she blushed.

"I'll try my best mom." Miguel said with a laugh as he kissed his wife on the head.

"You guys are so adorable." Nicole said excitedly as she played with Ian's fingers that were interlaced with hers.

"Nicole! Don't make things worse." Veronica complained.

"You guys sound like children." Katerina complained as she rolled her eyes at them.

"Do you want to go first or will we let Miguel and Veronica have one first?" Eric teased her as he lifted her chin and tried to kiss her. Katerina, who was annoyed by his comment, blocked his face with her hand and pushed him away.

"I bet you're a submissive." Miguel teased his elder brother.

"Ask Katerina." Eric said with a grin. What he enjoyed the most was having her under him.

Katerina, who seemed quite annoyed at Eric, ignored his comment and continued to eat.

"Nicole, how are things at Saints? Have they calmed down?" Adrianna asked the pregnant woman.

"More or less. The only issues I really had were those old fashioned stockholders, now that Prince Group has purchased a big chunk of the shares, that's not an issue anymore." Nicole said with a shrug.

"When do you plan on going on Maternity?" Adrianna asked.

"Two months before she gives birth." It was Ian that answered for Nicole.

"We haven't agreed on that yet! And I say two weeks!" Nicole insisted.

"I agree with Ian. Two months." Miguel chimed in.

"I'm the one that's pregnant, you are neither father nor mother to this child so you don't get a say Miguel." Nicole said, turning her back to her brother.

"Nicole, do two months." Lucy Chan told her daughter sternly.

"But mom." Nicole complained.

"No buts. On this table I'm the most qualified to tell you, two months." Lucy Chan told her daughter again.

"Fine. You guys are too much." Nicole complained as she began to pick at her food.

"Nic, let me help you." Ian said lovingly as he took a plate of what Nicole had been craving for for weeks and placed some on her plate.

"I'm not a child, Ian." Nicole complained. Ian simply smiled and went back to his meal.

In the middle of lunch, Ian had to step out to take a call. When he returned he had a serious look on his face. Cedric could tell that something had happened, it was either with the office or with one of the side investigations they had running.

"Cedric, I have an update." Ian said, making Cedric stand and move to the side with him.

"They caught the mastermind behind the attack on Jam." Ian reported.

"Great. Why do you seem bothered?" Cedric asked Ian.

"I just don't buy the motive." Ian told Cedric.

"Tell me the details." Cedric said as they moved towards a table at the corner of the room. Cedric also waved the other boys over, he wanted to hear their opinions too.

The parents and the girls were puzzled by their actions. Cedric paused and realized he needed to involve Katerina too, so he called her over as well.

"They caught the mastermind! That's good!" Katerina said happily as Cedric recounted Ian's report.

"It seems off." Ian said.

"Tell us the details." Katerina said with a nod.

"The mastermind was Mitch Colon. According to his statement he was angry at the management of Constellation's for not hiring him, Mitch was applying for the General Manager position for Constellations but was not chosen. So in his anger he hired someone to kill the owner. All he knew was the owner of Constellations owned a black Rolls Royce, so he asked the killer to target someone that would get out of that car." Ian recounted the details.

"You're right, that doesn't make sense at all." Katerina said as she analyzed the story. "For one, it's too shallow a reason, and even if in his head it was reason enough, no one has seen the owners of Constellations until your board meeting earlier."

Ian nodded in reply.

"Did you inform the police about your doubts?" Cedric asked Ian.

"I have. I told Damien and he said he would investigate it, but Cedric, the police have no other leads. They can't even find the murderer's real identity." Ian explained.

"Let's keep looking into this. Work closely with Damien to get the truth out of the man." Cedric ordered Ian, to which his assistant simply nodded.

As they moved back towards the main table Ian's phone rang again.

"It's Capt. Damien." Ian told them.

"Put it on speaker, let's go back." Cedric ordered.

Ian placed the phone on the table and placed it on speaker as Cedric had said.

"Capt. Damien." Ian greeted.

"What's with the formal tone?" The policeman asked.

"I'm with Mr. Reyes and his friends, you're on speaker." Ian informed him.

"Ah, I see now." Capt. Damien said in reply. "Good afternoon young masters."

"Why did you call?" Ian asked.

"The mastermind just signed his confession." Capt. Damien told them.

"We actually have some questions and concerns with his story captain." Katerina said.

"Ah, attorney, you're there too. Well, the thing is, we won't have a way to confirm your concerns." Capt. Damien said quite awkwardly.

"Why is that?" Katerina asked.

"The suspect passed away right after signing his confession. It was a heart attack." Capt. Damien said.

"That's too good a coincidence. I hope you see that." Katerina told the captain.

"We do, ma'am. We're having an autopsy done. I'll inform you and Ian of the results once I have it." Capt. Damien promised.

"Thank you Captain." Cedric said as Ian dropped the call.
