Never Judge

Chapter 200 - 200

Adrianna looked over at Elaine again, and sure enough she was wearing the necklace that she told Cedric to sell because she didn't like it.

When Henry's friend had pointed it out Henry gasped and covered his mouth, and for good reason. He almost asked Adrianna if that was the piece she asked Cedric to sell. He looked over to Adrianna but she kept a straight face, Henry couldn't read his cousin at all.

"Miss Adrianna, you don't need to hide it. We know you told Miss Ayanna that it wasn't your type. Did Mr. Reyes decide to give it to his legal wife instead?" Another designer asked, clearly still believing that Adrianna was the Reyes Heir's mistress.

"The Reyes Heir doesn't have a mistress, he only has his wife." Adrianna said in a serious tone.

"And my cousin is no one's mistress." Henry said, defending Adrianna. "Come on Adri. I see some classmates of yours over there. Let's say hi." Henry pulled his cousin away to the other end of the hall.

After a while, Uncle Matthew came over and pulled his niece and nephew to the side.

"I know why we lost all those partnerships." Uncle Matthew whispered.

"We have an idea too." Adrianna said with a nod. "What did you find out uncle?"

"People think that Elaine Moyra is Mrs. Reyes." Uncle Matthew told them. When he saw that, they weren't surprised he lifted a questioning eyebrow.

"Someone called Adri a mistress again." Henry said, rolling his eyes.

"Why didn't Cedric have it published that he had sold that necklace?" Uncle Matthew asked.

"He didn't want people using my comment at the after party as a way of assuming that I was the Reyes Heir's wife. So he had Camilla, his assistant, discreetly sell the piece." Adrianna shrugged. "Interestingly the same conversation now has people thinking that since his 'mistress' didn't take it he gave it to his wife. It was, after all, the most expensive piece of jewelry auctioned off that night." Adrianna recalled how she glared at Cedric when he kept bidding for that necklace. It's value was so high because of all the gems in it as well as it's age.

"We should tell Cedric about this." Henry said as he pulled out his phone.

"No. Don't." Adrianna stopped him from doing what he had planned.

"Adri, he has to know that someone is using his name to pull you down." Henry argued.

"I can't have Cedric fixing my problems all the time." Adrianna explained. "I told you, I want to be successful enough to stand at the same level as him in my own right because of my own efforts and my own skill."

"Cousin, this crazy desire of yours will make it harder for you." Henry argued back. He didn't understand his cousin's need to prove herself. "People will always say you got there because of him no matter what. Who are you trying to prove this to?"

"They won't know, but I will." Adrianna said with a glare.

Henry sighed and shook his head. He knew Adrianna had long made up her mind on this, he didn't know why he even tried to convince her otherwise. Cedric himself had lost that battle. Then again, Cedric spoiled his wife.

"Adrianna, we should go home." Uncle Matthew said, breaking the silence. "It's getting late and you did promise Cedric that you would come home early."

"Alright." Adrianna nodded.

As Adrianna and her companions were leaving they saw a lot of people walking over to Elaine Moyra and her father. Clearly word had gotten out that she was most probably the illusive Mrs. Reyes.

"Aren't you going to say goodbye to the Moyra's?" One of their close business partners asked as they bumped into each other.

"There is no need." Uncle Matthew calmly said.

"Don't you know who she could possibly be?" The business partner was clearly puzzled by Uncle Matthew's refusal to give respect to someone that was possibly a member of the richest family in the country.

"Those are just rumors. It's not confirmed." Henry answered for his uncle. The real Mrs. Reyes was standing with them anyway.

"Even if it's just a rumor, don't risk getting on the bad side of the Reyes Family. They are truly powerful." The business partner warned. Adrianna didn't take it against him for being wary, he was looking out for Island's Inc.

"We'll just go. Thank you for your concern." Adrianna said with a smile as they left.

Back at Mountain View it was past 11pm when Cedric finally climbed into bed with Adrianna. He noticed her shifting in bed and figured she was still awake.

"Is something bothering you Adri?" Cedric asked as he hugged her.

"No, not really. I'm just a little uncomfortable." Adrianna said.

"Do you want me to call a doctor?" Cedric was worried that the discomfort could lead to something worse.

"No need. My belly has just gotten bigger, that's all." Adrianna told Cedric.

"Alright. If anything is wrong just tell me." Cedric whispered to his wife as he kissed her on the cheek.

"Ced, did Camilla successfully sell that necklace?" Adrianna asked. She wanted to confirm if the necklace Elaine was flaunting was the real deal or a fake.

"Yeah, someone bought it as soon as the auction was over. We made quite a profit, a few hundred thousand." Cedric explained to his wife. "Why? Are you regretting selling it?" Cedric asked.

"A bit. But it's sold now." Adrianna regretted it for a different reason from what Cedric was thinking.

"I can buy it back." Cedric told her.

"No need. It has a new home now." Adrianna said, shaking her head.

"Adri, you don't need that necklace to look pretty, you're the prettiest woman in the world to me." Cedric told her.

"No Cedric, I'm tired. Go to sleep. We aren't doing it." Adrianna knew what Cedric was after.

Cedric groaned and went to sleep with Adrianna cuddled in his arms.
