My Secretary is a Little Sweet

Chapter 335 - Meeting the Parents (Part Three)

Chapter 335: Meeting the Parents (Part Three)

While Mu Wensheng fell into a dilemma, Mu Qing walked with Zhao Anan into the villa and took her all the way up to the second floor.

In the small living room on the second floor, a middle-aged man dressed in casual clothes was reading a thick medical book sitting at the window. He resembled Mu Qing a bit, and the black framed glasses made him look elegant and quiet.

Next to him was a middle aged woman with a beautiful face. She was dressed in a dark green cheongsam with black, smooth hair tied in a bun at the back of the head. She was making tea and the fragrance could be smelled across the living room.

The couple were not surprised at the sight of Mu Qing and Zhao Anan. Apparently, when they had gone to find Mu Wensheng, the servants had already come and given them a heads-up.

“Dad, mom!”

“Greetings, Uncle and Aunt!” Zhao Anan didn’t show any embarrassment despite her hands tightly clenched by Mu Qing. Instead, she greeted Mu Qing’s parents in a natural way, sounding neither pleading nor arrogant, as if she were just greeting the seniors whom she had not seen for years.

Mu Qing’s mother was called Gu Huiru. She had a friendly smile on her face as she said in a fond tone, “Hi, Anan. Come and have some tea, I have also made yam cake, which will be ready soon.”

She ignored the way her son held Zhao Anan’s hands. She treated Zhao Anan as a good friend of Mu Qing and greeted her politely.

Gu Huiru was indeed a graceful lady. She and Mu Bingrong, Mu Qing’s father had fallen in love with each other at the Ivory Tower and gotten married right after graduation. The following year, she gave birth to Mu Qing and her life had been smooth and wonderful with no setbacks or arguments with anyone. Her relationship with her husband had been harmonious and she had been devoted to her father-in-law and son.

Gu Huiru was not an independent woman. Most of the time, she would obey her father-in-law and her husband or her son. But on some occasions, she harboured independent ideas.

Like at this precise moment.

Many years ago, her father-in-law and husband disapproved of her son’s relationship with Zhao Anan, claiming that her sickness was completely incurable and that it would return even if she was healed and there would be potential danger buried for the generations to come.

But she didn’t agree with it. She thought that as long as her son liked her, he should marry Zhao Anan even if she could only live up to one year.

Must he give her up just because she was sick?

Zhao Anan must have also not wanted to get sick. She was already in a very bad situation then why must she be given up? She had been pregnant with her son’s child and if she had given birth to the baby back then, she would have got a grandson and become a grandma.

Her son, Mu Qing had been brought up by Old Mu, so Gu Huiru felt that she was not so close to her son as much. If Mu Qing ever got a son, she would definitely try her best to get close to her son being the grandma of his child.

Wasn’t her father-in-law an excellent doctor? Mu Qing was getting very proficient too. If they could combine forces and help Zhao Anan, she was certainly going to give birth to a healthy baby.

Gu Huiru had always been spoiled by her husband and hadn’t faced any setbacks, so she always considered everything positively. Mu Bingrong sitting next to her, however, was not positive at all.

He frowned as he threw a look at his son and Zhao Anan holding hands and said unhappily, “What do you think you are doing?”

Mu Bingrong was a conservative man and such men tended to be stubborn and conventional.

Mu Qing had grown up with Mu Wensheng who did not follow the rules. So he resembled his grandpa more than his own father in personality.

Mu Qing ignored his father’s words. He had no intention of releasing her hand.

He stood on the spot and said with a clear and determined voice,” Dad and mom, I have decided to marry Anan. Don’t reach out to her without my permission, you can just come to me instead. It is my decision to marry her and she has nothing to do with it.”

Having heard what his son said, Mu Bingrong struck the table hard, making the tea set on the table clatter.

“Nonsense! Marriage is not a joking matter!”

Gu Huiru got startled. Her husband rarely got angry nor was he a very talkative person. He was usually a good natured man.

Mu Qing ignored Mu Bingrong’s fury. He had married his beloved woman. Why couldn’t he get his own?

” Dad, Mom, pick a nice day and take the marriage proposal to Family Zhao. We are off now!”

Having said the words, he took Zhao Anan and ran downstairs. When they ran into another servant in the living room, he greeted her by nodding and saying hello in composure.

Mu Bingrong got so annoyed that his fingers trembled.

He had always been a well behaved man who might not be as excellent as his father or his son in medical science, but was also an outstanding doctor . He was always respected wherever he went. But today, his son dared to talk with him in such a rude way.

He even asked them to take the marriage proposal at Family Zhao?

His son had always been an obedient boy who took responsibilities very seriously. He was also a filial man. But he dared to say something so irresponsible today.

Zhao Anan had health problems and he had indicated to his son many times that he should find a healthy woman to get married, no matter what kind of woman she might be.

Otherwise, the bloodline of Family Zhao would be cut if Zhao Anan couldn’t give birth to babies.

This had everything to do with the development of the family, so Mu Bingrong was very serious. Mu Qing was his son, the most excellent heir of Family Mu whom everyone had high expectations from. Both of them hoped that Mu Qing could have a son who could surpass Mu Qing and inherit the medical science of Family Mu and take Family Mu ahead.

“How did he end up with Zhao Anan? Didn’t they break up? When did they get back together again?”

A moment later, Mu Bingrong regained his composure.

Gu Huiru took a white handkerchief and wiped off the tea that had splashed out because of his striking the table. She had a friendly smile on her face. “Zhao Anan is the only girl our son has been fond of and serious about. Look, he even brought her to us. Anan seems like a nice girl, good looking and charismatic. She and my son make a cute couple.”

Mu Bingrong smiled bitterly. “The girl is okay in everything except for her health…”

“Even father can’t cure her?”

Mu Bingrong shook his head. ” Not even our father. He is not a God who can cure everything. If our son marries Zhao Anan, we would basically not have any grandchildren.”

Gu Huiru couldn’t help but get startled.

No grandchildren?

So no one would keep her son company when he got old?

“Well, I better ask father what it is going on.”

Having said the words, Mu Bingrong went downstairs, leaving Gu Huiru bewildered.
