My Mage System (BL)

448 He had learned more about their community

He then looked Raven in the eye and said to him : “I accept a hand-to-hand fight, but only on one condition… I want all the Shapeshifters without exception to attend our fight.”

Axel, who could follow Kevin’s train of thought thanks to their link, looked at him sideways and then asked him, ‘Are you really going to use it ?’

Kevin immediately replied, ‘The Shapeshifters will only respect me if they realize the difference in power between me and Raven, so yes, I will show them my true power.’

Raven smirked, this human was even more arrogant than he thought, his aura was inferior to his even though he was an Absolute Warrior, so as long as he didn’t use those golden chains, he had nothing to fear.

He then said to him : “Alright, follow me then, and the rest of you…”

He had said this while looking at the elders of the Shapeshifters council : “You know what you have to do, get everyone to the Canyon, that’s where the fight will take place.”

Kevin then snapped his fingers and all the golden shields surrounding the members of the Shapeshifters’ council disappeared and a golden chain was wrapped around their forearms instead.

Kevin then explained to them with a benevolent smile : “My chains will protect you immediately if you are in danger again, don’t worry, you are safe now.”

All the members of the council looked with astonishment at the golden chain that had wrapped itself like a snake around their forearm and they bowed their heads again as a sign of respect to Kevin before going their separate ways to gather all the Shapeshifters to the Canyon.

Raven was now out of control and their new King was their only hope of stopping him.

The fact that this human managed to become the new King in one night meant that he had managed to kill the former King and all his guards who were all armed with Trinium weapons within a few hours.

So either he was extremely powerful as these golden chains suggested, because to have been able to stop Raven’s attack it could only be a divine weapon, or he had very powerful allies who had helped him access the throne.

But in any case, their new King had just accepted a hand-to-hand fight with the most powerful of them, so if Raven was beaten, all the others would submit to the new bearer of the pentagram mark because Raven had taught them to respect only the strong and ignore the weak.

Since he had become the strongest of the Shapeshifters, he had begun to isolate them more and more from the rest of the human population, forbidding them to even associate with them.

So now their future was in the hands of this new and very young King, and they had no choice but to trust him.

An hour later, a thousand Shapeshifters had gathered along the Canyon where on one side there were Raven and his men, and on the other side Kevin, Axel and the elders of the Shapeshifters who wanted by standing next to them to show to their whole community that they were supporting their new King.

Kevin, while waiting for all the Shapeshifters to arrive, had learned more about their community.

He had learned for example that there were not only Wolves and Dragons, but that there were also Tigers, Foxes, Snakes and Eagles, even though they were much less numerous than the Wolves and Dragons.

He had also learned that since they were no longer allowed to associate with humans, there had been almost no births among the Shapeshifters, and that many of them wanted to return to live with humans, but Raven, if they dared to, then took all the possessions of those who left, leaving them with nothing at all, no money, no clothes, no food, they were stripped of everything, so very few had the courage to leave.

Kevin then sighed helplessly, it was really such a waste that a fighter like him had become so greedy, but the more he learned about Raven, the more he thought that he would probably have no choice but to eliminate him or at least neutralize him.

Axel agreed with him, Raven had acted like a tyrant and he was sure that the man who accompanied them when they arrived here, and whom he had to knock out just after Kevin had his vision, was not the only fanatic who followed him.

Liam had warned them that Raven didn’t care about human issues, but his conquering spirit was something they hadn’t anticipated.

According to the elders, things had deteriorated very quickly in recent years because Raven knew that the King would not try anything against their community and that the organization was too busy with the demons to worry about them, which had left him free to do whatever he wanted.

And with the men he had surrounded himself with, they hadn’t been able to stop him in time and they had suffered the consequences of their inaction.

If Kevin hadn’t decided to come this morning to offer the Shapeshifters to join the humans, all the Shapeshifters’ elders would have died, and if Raven or one of his men continued to lead the Shapeshifters, this tragedy would undoubtedly be repeated.

Axel then said to Kevin : “Most of the legendary wolves are in the crowd and not behind Raven, and I don’t sense any hostility from them just curiosity… And some hope.”

Kevin nodded and told him : “That’s a pretty good thing then.”

He then turned to the Shapeshifters’ elders and asked them curiously : “Even if I decide to spare Raven, he and his men won’t get off that easily, and even if I decide to judge them for rebellion and not for high treason, they’ll have to suffer the consequences of their actions.”

He saw that the elders had serious faces and that they understood the situation so he continued : “Do you really need to elect a new leader to replace Raven or is the council of elders of the Shapeshifters sufficient to take care of the new generation ?”
