My Little Sweet Wife

Chapter 209 - Jiang Ruolan Was His Wife, So It Was Only Right For Her To Take Care Of The Guest

From the beginning of Old Man Xian's birthday banquet, Jiang Ruolan's hand was tightly held by Xian Zihao. Due to the fact that she had been holding back her laughter, her entire face was dyed with a trace of bright and youthful energy, making her look extremely beautiful.

When she walked with Xian Zihao to the large dining table, the faint polite smiles of the elders sitting at the table matched well with Jiang Ruolan's tranquil smile.

Even when everyone's gaze turned towards her, the corner of her lips still lifted slightly.

Since today was Old Man Xian's birthday, he did not seem to want to hold this celebration too seriously. He only invited his family members, and Jiang Family was considered a relative of Zhan An, while Senior Zhou and Zhou Shufen's statuses were completely different. Just by quietly sitting there, their auras were the most overbearing.

Old Man Xian, on the other hand, suddenly glanced at Jiang Ruolan. The coldness in his eyes gradually faded away. No one knew what he was thinking about.

However, the people sitting here were not ordinary people. They were all big figures in the business world, and in addition to the pleasantries, they were also a little more straightforward. Every time Senior Zhou looked at Xian Zihao, he couldn't help sighing with emotion.

Zhou Shufen suddenly put down her chopsticks, picked up a glass of wine, and said with a smile, "I accidentally injured my hand today. If it wasn't for Miss Jiang's help, I'm afraid I would be lying in the hospital right now. Come, Miss Jiang, let me toast you."

Jiang Ruolan froze for a moment. Instinctively, she picked up the glass of wine in front of her and looked at Zhou Shufen with a slight smile.

Just as she was about to raise her glass and drink, Xian Zihao rejected on her behalf. "Ruolan doesn't drink wine. Miss Zhou was injured at the Xian household. It's only right that she takes care of you."

Zhou Shufen stared at the apathy on Xian Zihao's face, and her hand gradually tightened around the wine glass.

This sentence was very clear to her. Xian Zihao was saying because Jiang Ruolan was his wife, so it was only right for her to take care of her (Zhou Shufen).

Zhou Shufen didn't say anything but something in her eyes seemed to be dying, as if something had gone beyond her expectations. Or perhaps, she had never seen through Xian Zihao's thoughts.

Xian Zihao glanced at her and took the glass from Jiang Ruolan. "I'll do it for her."

Zhou Shufen paused and looked at both of them quietly. A trace of self-mockery flashed across her eyes, but it disappeared in the blink of an eye. She held the wine glass tightly and smiled. "Zihao, I won't stop you. Do as you wish."

After saying that, she gulped down all the wine in one moment.

Xian Zihao's gaze was slightly cold as he watched Zhou Shufen drink an entire glass without saying a word. He then finished Jiang Ruolan's wine, placed the glass in front of her, and then looked at Jiang Ruolan with a hint of meaning in his voice. "You can't drink, so don't try to force yourself. The one who's making things difficult is me, your husband."

Jiang Ruolan's eyelids twitched. 'Who told you I can't drink! Didn't you force me to drink at the Committee banquet before?! You were so crafty back then.'

She silently cursed under her breath, but she still smiled cooperatively.

On the other side, Zhou Shufen pursed her lips in slight annoyance and put down her wine glass.

Xian Zihao passed some food to Jiang Ruolan.

Zhou Shufen's heart couldn't help but quiver slightly when she saw the warmth in his eyes and the way he took care of Jiang Ruolan.

'Xian Zihao, what exactly is your heart made of?'

After three rounds of drinking, Old Man Xian looked very happy. Jiang Bingqing and Cui Liuxian were like two children that were snuggling around him.

Xian Guiying only ate a few mouthfuls of food before suddenly returning to her room. Jiang Ruolan knew that Xian Guiying was pregnant and had a terrible nausea, and as she watched her leave, she was sighing in her heart. The symptoms of her vomiting were really severe.

But all of a sudden, she just happened to take a bite of the fish and somehow felt her stomach churning as well.

Jiang Ruolan's stomach churned uncomfortably. She quietly put down her chopsticks, not allowing anyone to notice her discomfort. She just stared at the fish in the bowl, feeling waves of nausea assaulting her.

However, this feeling of nausea wasn't very clear. If it weren't for the fishy smell, she probably wouldn't have noticed the strange state of her body until now.

Judging from her recent drowsiness, and the fact that her period times have been irregular, Jiang Ruolan unconsciously placed her hand on her stomach, looking a little surprised.

"What happened to you, Ruolan? Could it be that you are also uncomfortable?" Zhan An also put some food into her bowl. Seeing that her expression didn't look good, she smiled amiably and asked her if she was unwell.

At the same time, Xian Zihao also noticed the change in Jiang Ruolan's expression. "Ruolan? Are you feeling unwell?"

"I'm fine." Jiang Ruolan looked up and smiled sweetly at Zhan An. Moments later, she turned around and smiled back at Xian Zihao as well, then said, "I was thinking about Guiying and was wondering if I could send her some food later. Even if she doesn't have any appetite now, she'll still be hungry at night."

"That's right, Guiying likes to be pampered at times like this."

Zhan An smiled happily. "How about this, I'll go get some food for her. She stayed in America for too long and probably still has jet lag. When she came back last time, I noticed that she looked bad. I need to check on her."

After saying that, Zhan An immediately got up and planned to go to the kitchen with Nanny Cheng to find some leftovers that had not been served on the table.

Zhou Shufen suddenly stood up. "Auntie, let me accompany you."

Jiang Ruolan didn't expect Zhan An to be so polite to Zhou Shufen.

Zhan An glanced at Zhou Shufen and smiled amiably, "No need. You're a guest here. I can't let you come with me."

"It's alright, auntie. I saw that Nanny Cheng is very busy all day, why don't we let her rest? I will accompany you." Zhou Shufen was very cordial as she turned around to say goodbye to everyone, and was about to get up.

"Don't, don't! Miss Zhou, just stay sitting there." Zhan An quickly pushed Zhou Shufen to her seat, then turned around, and said to Nanny Cheng, "You should go rest as well. Ruolan and I will bring Guiying some food. We will be fine."

These words caused Jiang Ruolan to turn her gaze towards Zhan An who was smiling merrily. At the same time, Zhou Shufen's expression froze for a moment, but she continued to smile.

She was rendered speechless by Zhan An's words, which were filled with smiles and politeness.

"Ruolan, come and help mom get some food for Guiying. Don't let the guests do it, come quickly." Zhan An turned and gave Jiang Ruolan a wink.

One was her daughter-in-law, the other was her guest. Her words were so ingenious that no one could detect the flaw in it.

Jiang Ruolan stood up and walked towards her. Zhan An then pulled her into the kitchen.
