Location: The Great Valley

Description:

“The Progenitors of Witchcrafts”

When the world was young, and Giants and Gods ruled the world, the Magic were slaves to these beings. Seceding from their compatriots, the giantess believed that Magic is sacred and only they should use it.

To this day, The Hag Giants and their descendants are known as the progenitors of witchcraft.

Haruspollach is the descendant of The Hag Giant. Dangerously aggressive against authority in any form, this Hag wields formidable ‘old magic’ that defies reason or explanation.

Haruspollach is frustratingly whimsical and exceedingly cryptic. She is an ancient master of alchemical Magic. She brews potions fit only for the deranged and desperate.

Your wish, she would comply . . . for a prize.

“Tell me . . . are we going to kill that thing?” Ragnar asked to no one.

Kill it? Ren shook his head. Of course not! He needed the Old Hag to live until he became an Alchemist!

Ren’s attention was on the Old Hag’s treasures. The Old Hag’s lifestyle demanded she carried countless medicinal and all sorts of ingredients, many of which were extraordinarily rare or brewed by her own designs.

Her items were valuable to any practitioner of magical Alchemy, but the true gem of the Old Hag’s collection was her giant cauldron.

The Cauldron of Wonders . . . Ren skimmed his jawline.

The first thing he needed when he became an alchemist was a cauldron. The Cauldron of Wonders allowed an Alchemist to mass produce potions with startling efficiency, provided they had the requisite skills.

“No. We won’t do that,” Ren firmly said. He needed the Old Hag to live.

But first, he also needed Orakh and Draki to live.

Ragnar flicked his eyes at Ren. “Then, can we outrun it?” he liked that idea than facing the Old Hag. Her stats weren’t something they could defeat at the moment.

Ragnar didn’t know about the Orcs, but as a player, they weren’t a match against the witch. He only hoped that the Orcs wouldn’t engage the Old Hag.

Or did they already engaged it? A sweat broke on his back and face.

“Outrun it?” Ren’s head tilted to the side. “Maybe.”

“Stop playing words and tell us what to expect so we’ll prepare for it.”

“Relax. Just follow the event, and everything will be fine.”

“I don’t want to be cannon fodder,” Ragnar muttered, and Ren laughed a little.

“You won’t.” Not now, at least.

Shifting their attention to the Old Hag. She hefted a giant cauldron upon her back, spooning the noxious chemicals within using an equally oversized ladle. Her voluminous robe hid an entire pharmacy of medical components, most of which were dangerously experimental.

The Old Hag used her impressive skills in alchemy to test the effects of her potions on others, gathering desperate ‘patients’ of all species eager to benefit from the Hag’s Magic.

To the Old Hag, there was nothing more satisfying than exploring the potential found within natural ingredients, even if the result was agonizing death.

Many Orcs fell prey to her hands. And some souls voluntarily sacrifice themselves to her experiments in the promise to fulfill their wishes.

“Are you here to fulfil your hearts desires?” The Old Hag asked, tone varying in degrees but cringing in the ears nonetheless.

The Orcs reacted violently, and they all pointed their weapons at the witch.

“Get back, Hag! We know that nothing comes out good in making any deals with you.”

“You take advantage of the desperate. You brainwashed and promised the impossible to your victims, and in the end, all of them died.”

The Old Hag snickered. “I’m not taking advantage of the desperate but allowing them a chance to live a life of greater purpose.”

Then her eyes narrowed at Ren, and Evie hid behind the former without thought. The Old Hag’s opaque eyes and creepy smile were frightening, and this was coming from her, who wasn’t easily frightened.

“How about you, dears? Do you want to be the version of yourself that you want to be?”
