Chapter 123 - Death Row Accepts Old Officials

Chapter 123: Death Row Accepts Old Officials

Seeing that even the first prince, Luo Hao, had completely given up resisting, the remaining soldiers threw down their armor and weapons as well, kneeling on the ground.

“Your Majesty, how should we deal with these traitors?”

Fike turned around to ask Ross Collin III, who was now sitting up on the bed.

After witnessing Fike’s almost perfect speech, the king could not help but praise this youth in his heart.

“Capture these traitors! Put them all on death row!”

“Yes!”

Fike agreed loudly.

“Chief Saunders!”

Outside the door, Saunders entered obediently, his steps unsteady.

“Prince Consort… What orders does the Prince Consort have?”

“Take away these traitors!”

“As you command!”

The attendant summoned some palace guards, who tied up the three princes and the rest of the traitors before bringing them away.

When everyone in the room was gone, Ross Collin III continued.

“Saunders, come here.”

Saunders’ heart was already in his throat as he heard the king call for him.

“Your… Your Majesty… What can I do for you?”

The king gazed at the man coldly.

“Are there only three princes involved in this rebellion?”

Hearing his words, Saunders cried out with a trembling voice.

“I deserve to die! I deserve to die! I’m not a man!”

Saunders reprimanded himself as he slapped himself.

“I haven’t even pressed you, and you’ve already confessed?”

Ross Collin III cursed.

“I’m giving you a chance to redeem yourself. Tell me everyone who was part of this rebellion, or you’ll die!”

“I know, I understand! I’ll do it right now!”

Looking at the king exerting his royal authority, Fike suggested.

“Your Majesty, it’s getting late now. How about we kill them all in court tomorrow?”

Ross Collin III immediately agreed as he continued to address Saunders.

“Saunders, go draft a few wedding invitations right now. Tell them that I’m dead. Tomorrow, there will be a feast in the Imperial Court to celebrate the ascension of the Three Princes to the throne. Invite all the rebels who participated in this coup!”

Saunders lowered his head and did not dare to make a sound.

However, the king was not done with him yet.

“In the two years that has passed as I was bedridden, what has befallen the Great Wizards Flendor, Jack Ma, General Brad, Punk, and the other civil servants that had once been by my side?”

Saunders trembled as he replied.

“Your Majesty, the Great Wizard Flandor, General Brad, Punk, and the others should still be locked up in Lieluo’s Death Row. The Great Wizard Jack Ma was exiled to the border of the empire by the first prince a year ago. As for the civil servants…”

Seeing Saunders stammering, Ross Collin III asked anxiously.

“How are my civil servants? You dog of a slave, speak quickly!”

Saunders was completely taken aback by the king’s furious temperament and sobbed.

“Your Majesty’s civil servants… have almost all been killed by the second and third princes… and Prime Minister Reg… was even…”

“What?”

The king’s anger was reaching a boiling point.

“Prime Minister Reg… was… dismembered by the second prince.”

Hearing this, Ross Collin III, who had already recovered, spat out another mouthful of blood.

He threw the pillow next to him at Saunders as he yelled in anger.

“I really have three amazing sons!”

Lan Xi comforted her father while looking at Fike, who understood the message in her eyes.

As such, he spoke up.

“Your Majesty, the entire Imperial Court is now infested with followers of the Heavenly King’s Palace and the three princes. Why don’t we take the opportunity to release your ministers from death row and give them a chance for confrontation with the Imperial Court tomorrow?”

Ross Collin III nodded and turned to Saunders.

“Saunders, bring me out of the palace secretly, and follow us to release the surviving ministers from Death Row!”

Saunders did not dare to refuse. He immediately stood up to grab a change of clothes for the king before summoning a group of palace guards to escort them to the prison.

Death Row was located in the southwest corner of the capital, right next to the largest mine in the city, the Lieluo Mine.

The prisoners here were constantly put to work, mining for ore daily.

Four huge stone pillars stood guard at Death Row’s entrance, rendering all spells that could have been used to break in or out obsolete.

Ross Collin III emerged from the carriage.

The warden of the prison was also taken aback as he learned of the king’s full recovery.

Then, he respectfully brought them to the cell where the king’s old ministers had been imprisoned.

Along the way, Fike glanced at the countless sallow and emaciated prisoners, who leaned against the bars, pleading and struggling as they passed.

After passing through one checkpoint after another, a huge iron gate finally stood before their eyes.

Its material was comparable even to the door’s in the Heavenly Palace that had guarded the Celestial Arcanum.

The warden himself slowly pushed open the iron gates.

Even as they were only half opened, the waves of curses from behind them could already be heard clearly.

“You treacherous ministers and thieves! Give up! I will not yield to you!”

“Kill me now! I will not let you off even if I go to hell and become a ghost!”

However, once the gate was fully opened, and the imprisoned old officials laid eyes on Ross Collin III, every one of them froze as they stared blankly at them, no longer cursing.

“Your Majesty! You’ve finally come to save us!”

The great mage Flando cried.

“Your Majesty, it’s all my fault for not being able to see through the conspiracies of those traitors from the Heavenly King’s Palace soon enough! I have caused Your Majesty to suffer for two years. I deserve to die!”

General Brad relented.

By now, the king had already entered the cell of Death Row inmates.

He held on to the hands of these old ministers tightly, and tears welled up from his eyes like a dam that had broken.

Ross Collin III turned his attention to a cold corpse in the corner of the cell and pointed at it.

“This, this is… could it be the corpse of Punk?”

Flandor and Brad could no longer stop themselves from crying after hearing this.

“General Punk committed suicide by biting his own tongue yesterday.”

Ross Collin III slammed his hand against the wall of the cell in rage.

“All of you, return to the palace with me immediately. Tomorrow, we will confront those damned rebels in court!”

“Thank you for your grace, Your Majesty!”

After Flandor and Brad had removed the shackles on their hands and feet, the warden returned their staff and spear to them.

Meanwhile, the other surviving civil servants of King Ross Collin III’s reign were all released as well.

“Listen up, all of you! Follow me back to the palace for now! Tomorrow, we will capture every last one of the traitors!”
