Mission XX: Seducing The Great Seducer

Chapter 341 - The Reason For Steve And Eve's Separation Two Years Ago

"He won't even budge! I wonder why he is like this today when normally he wouldn't be able to resist me!" Jasmine thought aloud as she went to bed to plan again.

That night Jasmine exhaust all the tricks she could think of and Jackson heartlessly refused her. She had no choice but to go to bed early.

Back in Steve's home, Evelyn whose upper body was resting on Steve's body raise her gaze to stare at his face.

"Steve, it's just a day away from mum's birthday party. Mum and dad had come to the conclusion that they will set me up on a blind date with the Chief Judge only son. They said this is because they don't want me to waste my life on a man whom I don't have a future with and this brings me to my question...," Evelyn trailed. From the erratic movement of her heart and the way she was trying to avoid his stares, Steve could easily tell that she was scared.

"Is there any future for the two of us?" Evelyn asked with a trembling voice. No matter how casual she wanted to sound about the issue she just couldn't hide her fears.

She was scared that Steve might just see her as the woman he could go to whenever he wants pleasure but that she wasn't fit to be his future wife.

"We have been dating five years ago, long before I travelled out of the country. Although we have dated for so long you have never mentioned anything about settling down. I know I was away for over two years. I am not sure what you were up to during those periods. Maybe you had found yourself an ideal partner, I don't know...," Evelyn paused as she tried to fight back the tears that were attempting to fall. Steve quietly watched her, waiting for her to conclude all she wanted to say.

"You can tell me if you had found yourself another sweetheart during that time that I was away. Although it will be hard to leave you for another woman since I love you a lot, I will do it. For your happiness, I could do anything and that includes leaving you for the one you love. All you need to do is say the world. The truth they say is bitter but I believe I will slowly accept it so please tell me the truth instead of giving me false hopes," Evelyn concluded in a sad tone as she cleaned the tears that were about to fall. She silently waited for his response but Steve didn't utter a word despite that three minutes had passed.

"I guess your silence means I am not the one anymore," Evelyn said as she slowly sat up. She made to climb out of bed and at this moment Steve stretched and pull the now standing lady onto the bed.

"And where do you think you are going to?" Steve asked as he stare at her sad face.

"To get my belongings so I can get out of your life...,"

"And who says you can just leave me because you have said all you wanted to say. Don't you want to hear my response or were you dying for this day to reach so you could quickly leave me in the guise that I don't love you anymore?" Steve asked seriously.

"I don't want to be a hindrance to your happiness that is why I am leaving...,"

"You are the main source of my happiness so what other happiness are you talking about?" Steve asked as he raised his right hand and stroke her face. His words made the once unhappy Evelyn shut up.

"Eve, five years ago our love must have seemed like a child play to the two of us since we were both new to the foreign feeling called love but honestly before you left I had planned on proposing to you. That was how serious I was about our relationship but you left me after you met me and Rose in an intimate position in the club that night...," Steve trailed. Each time he recalled that night he always feel a big loop in his throat. His heart always hurt terribly each time he recall how hard the ever strong Evelyn cried.

"But you never explained what actually happened that night so how did you want me to know what your thoughts about our relationship was," Evelyn said seriously.

Anytime she sees Rose she always feels the urge to pull out her entire hair to get even with her for what she did with her boyfriend that night but she always held herself back.

She might tolerate Jane's attitude but not her best friend Rose.

"You never gave me the chance to do that so how did you expect me to explain?" Steve replied.

"I had always wanted to tell you that Rose got drunk and set me up that night so you would break up with me but you never really wanted to listen to what I had to say. You thought I was going to tell more lies to cover up my unfaithfulness but that wasn't the truth," Steve said sternly.

"I never went to the club that day with her as she claimed. The truth was that we bumped into each other in the club. She asked to share a table with me but I rejected her offer. I vividly recall telling her that you were on your way to the club but she forced her way to sit down. She suddenly began drinking heavily before I could stop her...,"

"If what you are saying is true then why were your clothes undone. Your hair too was a mess and she was even sitting on your legs, what explanation did you want to give me?" The once sad Evelyn asked angrily.

"That is because I was busy staring at the entrance of the club when she suddenly took that as an advantage to sit on my legs. Before I could even rebuke her, she had already undone the button of my shirt. It was like everything was perfectly planned and calculated by her because it was at the moment she tried to forcefully kiss me that you arrived," Steve explained all that happened that night in an angry tone.
