Mission XX: Seducing The Great Seducer

"Hey Mr hero, what do you think you are doing? Do you perhaps enjoy being bullied by my dad and do you even know how to paint?" Catherine asked as she forcefully pulled out her hand from his hold.

"I am trying to relieve your dad of some of his burdens and I don't think your dad is bullying me...,"

"If this isn't called bullying the weak then what is it called?" Catherine asked fiercely.

"It is called testing his future son-in-law to see whether he is capable of taking care of his daughter," Jeff replied in a calm tone. It was after he said this that it dawned on her that maybe Jeff is right.

Maybe her father is really testing him? And why on earth didn't her mind goes to this?

"I also thought he was maltreating me because he thinks I am not good enough for you but after the discussion we had last night when he was drunk, I realised that your dad just loves you way too much. He wants the absolute best for you," Jeff said before he sat on the bare floor.

"Being wealthy and coming from a good family is nice but this doesn't guarantee that my daughter will be loved the way she should have been. Marrying a wealthy man doesn't mean that she will be well taken care of...," Jeff trailed as he stare at the lady sitting in front of him.

"This is what he told me last night when he was drunk. Yes, I am rich but he is afraid you will be neglected that is why I perfectly understand his point of view. No parents would want her child to live an unhappy life," Jeff concluded as he held her hands and caress them affectionately.

"If that is why he is acting this way he should have told me about his plans....,"

"Would you have agreed if he had asked you with the way you have been arguing with him since we arrived?" Jeff asked in a serious tone. Catherine spared a minute to think about his question.

If her father had disclosed that he wanted to test Jeff's feelings for her, she would definitely have disagreed with anything that will make the man she loves suffers.

"Maybe you are right. Father knows me and my temperament very well I guess that is why he kept the entire thing a secret," Catherine said in a sober tone.

"That's why you need to leave now so you can go to the market to buy groceries for lunch...,"

"But we have enough groceries to last for at least two days. I made sure I bought a lot of stuff so dad won't be able to use going to the market as an excuse to give you more work," Catherine said seriously.

"Despite that, you still need to leave the work here to me....,"

"But the work is way too much for you," Catherine said not agreeing to his arrangement.

"I know it is but my love for you is greater than a thousand of this work combined. To get his permission I can do anything morally right not to mention painting just a hall so please go ok," Jeff persuaded in a meek tone.

"But...,"

"If you choose to stay then I will believe that you don't want me to get your father's permission to formally court you," Jeff said in a tone that carried a hint of threat.

"You are threatening me," Catherine said with raised eyebrows.

"Of course not. I am asking you politely and you can join me after you are back from the market, I won't stop you then," Jeff said just to make her leave the hall so he could start work immediately.

After about five minutes of coaxing Catherine left the hall. Jeff has painted a house before and this was about four years ago when he, Jackson, Evelyn and Steve went on a charity event in an orphanage. They had joined other workers to paint since they were short of hands.

Right now he was very glad that he embarked on that event because without the knowledge of how to paint that he acquired there he wouldn't have known where to even start from right now.

Jeff instantly got to work. About two hours later, Mr Qin sneaked to come to check on him. He was stunned when he saw that Jeff had covered a large portion of the hall.

"Wow, I guess I wasn't wrong about him from the beginning. He is a hardworking man. Apart from the fact that he loves my daughter, he respects me a lot. I accept him for my darling Hua but I won't tell him. I will continue testing him," Mr Qin said grinning before he snuck away.

When Catherine returned from the market she was more shocked than her father was to see the speed at which Jeff worked on the walls.

After making sure that he has rested for fifteen minutes he resumed working again and she joined him to work. They worked for another three hours before they finally concluded everything.

They sat down on the dirty floor and rested after they were done. Catherine was lying on Jeff's body when she remembered that Jasmine hadn't called her since morning and it had already passed lunch.

She quickly removed her cell phone from her trouser's pocket and dialled Jasmine's line. There was no response on the first call so the anxious Catherine called again. On the second try, there was a response.

"Jasmine, is there any problem? Are you and Jackson ok? You have never failed to call me in the morning if you fail to do it in the night so what the heck is going on?" Catherine asked in a worried tone.

"Catherine this is not Jasmine," Jackson replied in a mellowed tone.

"Why are you the one answering Jasmine's cell phone again? Jackson, what the heck is going on over there? Don't you even try to lie to me because I am going to call either Evelyn, Elizabeth or Alfred to ask them about Jasmine's whereabouts," Catherine threatened fiercely as she sat up properly.

It's a new month again and time to outline our goals.

GOAL 1: For every 50 GOLDEN TICKETS we get this December I will give 5 chapters mass release instead of the two chapters we normally get. This is a great deal right?

GOAL 2: For every 10 reviews we get this month, I will give 3 chapters mass release. This is another great deal right?

Guys, we didn't reach any of last month goals. The GOLDEN TICKETS GOAL wasn't reached so also was the 2k privileged chapter unlocks and the 10 reviews.

Apart from making you guys happy, the second reason I always updated two chapters daily was so we could reach the privileged chapter unlocks target but for three months we couldn't reach the goal. We only reached the goal once. Hey guys, I am not blaming you guys for this.

What I want to say is that starting from this month the updates will reduce. I won't be uploading two chapters daily but I will try my best to make the updates stable. I will also try to give mass release depending on your performance apart from reaching the goals. Thank you so much guys for your understanding.
