Miss Cousin is Always Busy

Chapter 155

Chapter 155

When a person was in love, it was impossible for them to hide their affection from their beloved. Whether it was true their gaze, focus, or expression, they would expose a little of their thoughts on a subconscious level.

Dong Yuan was someone who had fallen in love before. She had also seen many youngsters who were in love. So, she couldn’t help but feel something strange between her daughter and Yu Fanshu. Yet, it also felt like nothing was going on between them.

Was she being overly concerned?

Jun Zishu and Yu Fanshu didn’t stay long before Dong Yuan chased them away.

“You two are busy people, so no need to waste so much time here. Go and take care of your own matters. I can take care of myself here.”

“Do you have any arrangements next, Teacher?”

“No, I don’t have anything scheduled lately. Do you have something to do this afternoon?”

“Nope, I’m staying at home.”

“How about coming with me, then? I can let you take a look at your contract, and we can discuss terminating your contract with your current company.”

“Will you be going with me, Teacher?”

“No, I’m not the person in charge of that. I’ll have Coco go with you. I’ll wait for you downstairs, is that alright?”

“Of course, it’s alright.”

Jun Zishu nodded her head like a little chick, looking unusually well-behaved.

Meanwhile, Chenzi couldn’t help but widen her eyes in shock as she sat in the back seat. She didn’t expect to leave their current company so soon.

After Jun Zishu and Yu Fanshu arrived at Brilliance Entertainment’s company building, Coco ushered them to the president’s office for no other reason than because Yu Jianshu was curious.

“Lingling, this is my elder brother, Yu Jianshu.”

“Hello, President,” Jun Zishu politely greeted and bowed.

Yu Jianshu was finally able to meet the girl rumored to be a lower-quality version of his little sister. However, probably because his little sister had boasted a lot about Jun Zishu to him, he also couldn’t help but think that Jun Zishu wasn’t as bad as the rumors made her out to be.

Yu Jianshu also noticed that her little sister was right about their appearances not being similar. It was especially true for their tastes in fashion. Also, despite being younger, he felt that Jun Zishu wasn’t rash like others her age. On the contrary, she behaved very calmly and maturely. The girl gave off a vibrant yet commanding aura.

When Jun Zishu and Yu Fanshu stood together, their eyebrows looked similar. And although Yu Fanshu was a little taller than Jun Zishu, the two looked unusually harmonious.

Jun Zishu had a childish face. Yet, her body radiated a sense of stability that matched Yu Fanshu’s.

Yu Jianshu had seen many eyes before. When he met eyes with Jun Zishu, the latter did not evade his gaze. Instead, she graciously stared back at him, allowing him to scrutinize her.

That wasn’t a pair of simple and innocent eyes. Those eyes gave off the feeling of profound wisdom and intellect. Yet, at the same time, he also got the feeling that it wasn’t the case at all. It was a rather perplexing situation.

“Have you seen enough?” Yu Fanshu asked as she waved her hand in front of her elder brother’s face.

Yu Jianshu retracted his gaze and offered the file on the table to Jun Zishu.

“Is this an S-grade contract?” Jun Zishu asked, feeling that something was amiss after reading a few pages of the contract.

“That’s right.”

“But…my current value…”

Normally, only first-rate celebrities receive S-grade contracts. With her current circumstances, Jun Zishu could, at most, receive a C-grade contract.

“You’ll be growing in popularity in the future, anyway. We might as well go with this one to save us the trouble.”

“Thank you for believing in me, President.”

“You have Fanshu to thank for that. Fanshu believes in you, so I naturally believe in you as well. Good luck, and don’t let down our trust.”

“Understood!”

After Jun Zishu was done reading the contract, Coco stored it in her document case. She planned to only have Jun Zishu sign it after Jun Zishu had terminated her current contract.

After getting into the car, Coco turned around from the passenger’s seat and looked at Jun Zishu, saying, “Give your manager a call now.”

“Okay.”

Jun Zishu unlocked her phone, opened her contact list, and called Zhao Chenming.

“Hello, Big Sis Ming?”

“What’s up?”

“I have something I want to talk to you about.”

“Go ahead.”

“I want to terminate my contract.”

“What? Jun Ling? Say that again?” Zhao Chenming nearly lost her mind when she heard Jun Zishu’s words. Just when the deadweight she had been carrying was about to achieve a semblance of success, this deadweight was actually trying to jump ship. “Have you already found your next home, Jun Ling? Do you know how much the default penalty is?! You best think it over!”

“I’m certain I am leaving, Big Sis Ming.”

“You shouldn’t be such an ungrateful person. Do you still remember who brought you into this circle back then? It is our East Sun! We’ve poured so many resources into you when you were failing, yet you want to kick East Sun away now that you’ve hitched a ride on the Film Empress’s bus? You can’t do that!”

Despite Zhao Chenming playing the gratitude card, Jun Zishu remained unfazed.

“I know how the company has treated me these past two years, Big Sis Ming. I am grateful for the company’s cultivation.”

I am also grateful to the company for destroying me.

“Where’s your next destination?” Zhao Chenming asked in a deep tone. She was curious to find out which company was poaching their talent.

“Brilliance.”

“It’s actually Brilliance? No wonder you wanted to leave. What benefits did Brilliance offer you?”

Realization dawned upon Zhao Chenming. Although East Sun Entertainment did relatively well in the entertainment industry, it was still nothing compared to Brilliance Entertainment.

“My manager is Big Sis Coco. People have to strive for greater heights, Big Sis Ming. I’m sure you understand this truth.”

“How generous of Brilliance. However, don’t forget how you’ve taken advantage of Yu Fanshu’s fame before. You might have gotten into her favor now, but will Yu Fanshu forget about your deeds? Will she forgive you for what you’ve done? Don’t be so gullible,” Zhao Chenming said, sneering. She realized that she had underestimated Jun Zishu’s ability to curry favor.

Jun Zishu had turned on hands-free mode, so everyone in the nanny van could hear Zhao Chenming’s words.

Naturally, Yu Fanshu had also heard what Zhao Chenming said, and she couldn’t help but frown a little. Did she seem like such a narrow-minded person to others?

“You don’t have to remind me how the company forced me to leech off Miss Yu, Big Sis Ming. I had given feedback to you when the whole internet was condemning me before. I asked you to stop involving Miss Yu. But what did you say to me?

“You said that infamy is also a type of fame and that I would end up worse if I don’t stand out. Have you not noticed that every decision you made has pushed my image down even further? This is why I want to leave. You might say that I am ungrateful, but don’t you think you are conceited, Big Sis Ming? Have you forgotten how you’ve given away my resources to others? Have you forgotten how you tried to push me onto investors? Maybe you’ve forgotten, but I haven’t.”

Perhaps sensing that Jun Zishu was intent on leaving, Zhao Chenming also shed all pretenses as she said, “So what? It’s your fault for being a good-for-nothing. With your laughable acting skills, can you play those roles well even if I gave you those resources? You’re whining that I’m giving you exposure? Be real. We all know deep down that you can’t bear to let go of Yu Fanshu’s name. Also, I gave you the chance to sleep with the investors because I think highly of you. I even had to pick up your mess after you ran away. If you want to leave, then leave. Our company can’t afford to accommodate a bigshot like you.”

Zhao Chenming’s tone was full of mockery, and every one of her words was spoken with contempt.

Coco wasn’t particularly surprised when she heard Zhao Chenming’s words since what the other party mentioned was the industry norm. What surprised Coco was that Jun Zishu hadn’t succumbed to the pressure and temptation. It was especially true considering Jun Zishu’s circumstances. Many people in significantly better circumstances had chosen to consent to such backdoor deals, yet Jun Zishu had remained firm despite her experiences.

“We’ll meet at the company, then,” Jun Zishu calmly said as she hung up the call. Then, when she noticed the cold expression on Yu Fanshu’s face, she asked, “What’s wrong, Teacher?”

Jun Zishu had never seen Yu Fanshu make such an expression in front of her before. Currently, Yu Fanshu’s face was tense, clearly expressing her displeasure.

“Your manager actually had you do that kind of thing?”

“So you were getting angry over this matter, Teacher? It’s fine. I didn’t agree to it, anyway,” Jun Zishu said.

Hearing Yu Fanshu’s words, Jun Zishu realized that Yu Fanshu hadn’t personally seen the entertainment industry’s darkness before. It made sense, though. After all, Yu Fanshu did not need to come into contact with such matters. Her family wouldn’t allow it. Jun Zishu wouldn’t allow it, either. So, when Yu Fanshu tried to ask for more details, Jun Zishu placed her hand over the back of Yu Fanshu’s hand.

“Don’t be angry, Teacher. It’s already in the past. I am on your side now, anyway. I know you will protect me,” Jun Zishu said in a sweet voice as she gently shook Yu Fanshu’s hand.

Is… Is this flirting? Yu Fanshu’s mind blanked out for a moment, and she mechanically nodded her head.

Although Yu Fanshu hadn’t personally seen or heard about the shady dealings of the entertainment industry before, she wasn’t a fool. She could more or less understand why such dealings took place.

People were doing it for nothing more than opportunities, fame, and fortune.

Hidden underneath the prosperity of the entertainment industry was a trade network of physical intimacy.

After this little revelation, Yu Fanshu felt fortunate that she had decided to recruit Jun Zishu as soon as possible. If she hadn’t done so, there was no saying if East Sun Entertainment or Jun Zishu’s manager would force her into those shady dealings again.

Meanwhile, when Jun Zishu saw Yu Fanshu’s expression loosening up, she couldn’t help but smile.

This was the first time they were holding hands off-camera, so Yu Fanshu couldn’t help but look at Jun Zishu’s hand. Jun Zishu’s hand was slightly smaller than hers, and her skin also had a healthier tone. The hand also felt soft and warm to the touch.

Following Yu Fanshu’s line of sight, Jun Zishu noticed that she was still holding onto Yu Fanshu’s hand, so she quickly retracted her hand. It was a hot summer day, after all. It’d be bad if she made the other party feel uncomfortable.

When Yu Fanshu felt the weight on her hand disappearing, she looked away nonchalantly. Inwardly, though, she thought that it would’ve been fine if they had remained like that for a while longer.

The contract termination proceeded smoothly, the group leaving after paying the default penalty.

Chenzi was only a small-time assistant, and East Sun had no intentions of keeping her. The company didn’t even pay her this month’s salary before having her leave. However, Chenzi didn’t mind it and happily followed Jun Zishu.

Jun Zishu breathed out a sigh of relief when she stepped out of East Sun’s doors. She had finally gotten rid of this smooth-brained company. Next, all she needed to do was work hard to earn money and latch onto Yu Fanshu tightly.

After the group got back into the van, Coco took out Jun Zishu’s employment contract and had her sign it.

After signing the contract, Jun Zishu logged into Weibo and unfollowed East Sun Entertainment and all celebrities related to the company.

Other than A Week in Love‘s official account, Jun Zishu had also unfollowed all other official accounts she had previously followed. The original owner had followed many Weibo users in the past, so by the time Jun Zishu was done severing her past, the van had already come to a stop.

However, when Jun Zishu looked out the window, she found that she wasn’t at her home.

“Where are we?”

Outside the van was a beautiful little villa designed in a European style. There was also a fountain and a garden in a courtyard.

“My house,” Yu Fanshu said as she got out of the van. Then, she had Coco return to the company and call her should anything come up.

Meanwhile, Chenzi stepped out of the van after Jun Zishu, her eyes looking left and right curiously.

“Huh?”

“As your teacher, I hereby announce that class is now in session.”

“Okay, Teacher! I will study hard!”
