Magical Academy: Rise of the Supreme Magic Craftsman

Chapter 78 - Urgency

Wallace didn't care how the Meredith Empire had gotten here. All he knew was that every planet it set its eyes on would be plundered until almost no valuable resources were left.

The natives would be slaves if they're weak or killed if ever they possess some threat.

The empire doesn't lack people but additional slaves were always welcome as it's treated as a business.

Since Wallace was fully aware of the capability of the battleships coming towards their town, he knew that there was no chance that they could survive their confrontation. Unless his parents have some amazing mana artifacts in their possession that could make them escape here, they wouldn't last long in fighting against this enemy ships.

BOOOOM!!

A loud explosion collided against the battleship as it tried to enter their town in the sky. It temporarily halted the ship's advance.

Wallace and his family were still trying to get in their car to escape when the earth-shaking blast happened.

"So fast! They're already here."

Chase was surprised about the speed of the battleships but Wallace is somewhat aware of it. He also knows that their town's mana barrier wouldn't last long against the two battleships here.

"We have to move now or we won't have a chance." Wallace said.

The empire has an advance technology that can detect human life or any living things. Hiding isn't a good option and only escaping is the best chance they have to survive. Luckily, only two battleships are present to apprehend their town. Wallace felt a bit relieved as the car moved to the northern gate to leave the place.

"They just collided to our town's barrier. It should give us some time. Right?" Elaine said worriedly as she grasps the situation they're into.

"No, they're just probably analyzing the barrier that stopped them and will destroy it in a moment." Wallace answered and as if they were listening, a hadron particle beam was released that destroyed the barrier.

Wallace felt that it was overkill. The barrier in the town isn't that strong enough to even hold a couple of their missiles at all.

As soon as the particle beam hit the barrier, it was shattered like glass and it continued hitting the town. The houses, people, and even some magicians trying to defend using their mana shells with their mana artifacts were disintegrated by the sheer force of the beam.

A few seconds after the beam was released, their target was cleared and a deep hole was caved in where the beam run through after pulverizing the part of the town.

Many cries and angry shouts were heard after it was fired. Several families died just like that. Some people who had some knowledge in magic and a few Grade C mana artifacts tried to attack the floating battleships but to no avail. The force field emitted by the ship is so strong that only Grade 3 magic can probably damage it.

"We can't stay here! Leave the town. We have contacted the nearest city to send us some help here. Just focus on surviving right now!"

They heard the town chief's instruction and alleviated some of their worries. They saw that he was together with a dozen combat magicians stationed in their location. They probably plan to hold against the enemy while they're waiting for the special forces that are hurrying over here.

At the very least, it is a good thing that they are also waiting for Cove City's reinforcement to arrive and help them in their predicament.

Now, they plan on heading to the nearest city as their place will become the battlefield. They may also meet with the reinforcements and give them some security once they move towards the city. After all, their town's defenses don't seem to look enough to fight against the two battleships.

Unfortunately, even if their plan sounds good, the Meredith Empire's battleship wouldn't give them a chance.

Several hatches of the ship opened and marauder gears came out. It has the size of two cars with 3 people in it and has very good mobility as it floats in the sky. Their purpose is normally to capture or fight people. Only about 30 of these gears came out of the ship, it was very few as they may just be probing thoroughly about what the natives here can do.

The dozens of the combat magicians tried to fight against these aircraft.

"Blasting Wind Howl!"

"Cyclone Fire!"

"Blade of Fire!"

Three Grade 2 magic was immediately released coming from the group of combat magicians.

Unfortunately, only the town chief and one of his subordinates seem to be a titled Battle Mage in the town. Thus, the other magicians tried to release Grade 2 and Grade 1 spells as the duo tried to prepare their Grade 3 Magic Spells.

The marauder gears seem to have lower defense than the battleship as after taking 3-4 hits from the spell, they now tried to dodge and maneuver as they approach. Then they counter attacked.

Paralyzing Beam!

Thirty beams of light hit their target magicians or citizen, the combat magicians Mana Shell was somehow able to lessen the effect of the beam but those that do not have this was quickly paralyzed as they were unable to move. Due to this, the marauder gears change their method of attack.

Sonic Wave!

Now even the magicians were affected by this attack. But it wasn't enough to stop the two Battle Mage. They finished their casting and released the spell to the crowd of marauder gears.

"Petrification!"

Two Grade 3 magic spells that covered the 30 marauder gears blocked the sky. It stopped the enemy aircraft as they slowly become stone.

This is the first time that Wallace saw a Grade 3 magic spell cast in person. He had only watch it in the recordings before. The sheer force of mana undulation in the town would cower any weaker magicians. The two Battle Mages live up to their name.

But Wallace knows that it wasn't over. First, each of the battleships should contain more than 500 marauder gears, 300 abyssal destroyers, and at least 100 mech frames that could easily destroy their whole town.

As soon as Wallace thought about it, 20 humanoid mech frames came out of the hatch from the floating battleship. Again, they seem to be probing what else these native magicians can do. If they just want to kill everyone, they could just release another of those particle beams but they look like gauging the limit of the magicians.

But he is aware that once they had recorded the information they needed, they'll remove anything that is not valuable. They will kill or capture everyone and establish their base of operation as they milk the planet with all the valuable resources they could get here.

A minute hasn't even passed when the mech frames came out but now, only the two Battle Mages remain on the battlefield and everyone else has died. But the two mages were also exhausted and could only dodge from the mech frame's attacks and couldn't deal damage at all. Their group was easily annihilated by the mech frame's powerful firing ability that shatters their mana shell and absurd mobility that could easily keep up to their movements. The two know that they wouldn't last long until the reinforcement from the city arrived. They needed at least 10 minutes to hold but they failed.

"We did our best." This is the only thing they could think as a burning palm of a mech frame grabbed and held the two magicians. It destroyed their Mana Shell and burned them alive as the last two defenses of the town perished.

A few seconds passed and as the empire noticed that no other attacks came towards them, they set their eyes on the fleeing slaves. Yes, in their eyes, the citizens here only deserved to be slaves and be sold for money.

They released almost a thousand marauder gears to capture them. A hundred of Mech Frames also joined in the fun of hunting people.

Wallace and his parents saw everything that has occurred as worry could be seen on their faces. They know that they were locked on by a Mech Frame that killed the 2 Battle Mages.

His father, Chase, looked at his son with a resolute face.
