Lucifer's Descendant System

Chapter 103 Commitment

"A really good answer," the woman replied before looking back at the sky.

From the movement of her eyes, Noah guessed that she was looking at Terrence, who was flying and enjoying his freedom.

"What is a Rank D monster doing flying freely within the city?" The woman asked with genuine curiosity as she looked at Terrence, which proved to Noah that he was right in assuming the direction of her gaze.

"Probably a pet monster," Noah responded disinterestedly, not to show what he was really thinking.

Hearing Noah's response, the young woman placed one of her delicate white hands on her chin while thinking for a while before speaking. "As far as I know, pet monsters are mostly harmless monsters, or monsters too weak for their Rank. This bird is an Angry Bird. When I was Rank D, I invaded three Angry Bird Fortresses. I know enough to know that not only is that an Angry Bird, but also a Boss on top of that," she responded with conviction, which surprised Noah.

She continued, "Whoever has domesticated an Angry Bird Boss will definitely have a promising future ahead, or an important legacy to pass on, depending on the person's age," she said and simply was silent. Noah also had no reason to try to force this conversation, so nothing was said after the revelation she gave.

The two continued in silence for a few minutes, until Noah was notified that the time for his appointment was coming. Without saying a word he got up and gave a loud whistle.

The woman was looking at him curiously. She was not used to sitting with strangers to chat, but as she was passing through a small town that had something so unique flying in the sky, she felt she needed to talk it over with someone. Even though he was a man, she had still sat down next to him and commented on her point of view about it for her own relief.

But what surprised her was that not only did the man she spoke with not cared at all, but he was not paying much attention to her either, just enjoying the place and the silence. This was something she was not used to witnessing, since almost everywhere she went, she was received by men by them fawning over her, both in the past for her power or even to this day for something as futile as appearance. But unlike other men, this strange man in front of her didn't even give her a second look, just treating her like a normal person, someone he would probably even forget about tomorrow.

For her, it was definitely a refreshing thing to observe. Now, seeing this man getting up and strangely whistling into the void made her a little lost, even thinking that maybe the reason for him to act that way was because he has some mental problem. But as soon as that thought passed through her mind, something else also flew past her. It was a large red bird, which flew around the man a few times before landing on his shoulder as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

To say she was surprised would have been an understatement. She thought the owner of that bird was either a spoiled rich young master who had received an expensive gift from his family, or perhaps an old man who loved to do research on monsters, but it was actually the young man who was sitting next to her without paying attention to it a few times.

'And to think that this young man, although very handsome, but apparently very weak, was actually the owner of such a powerful monster,' she thought to herself as she tried to measure Noah's strength, but she couldn't feel anything. It was as if Noah didn't even have a Blessing, just being a normal human, quite handsome, with a healthy and attractive body, but nothing more, which disappointed her a little.

Noah had no idea of the internal debate she was having; he just patted Terrence's head and prepared to leave.

At that moment, Noah felt a slight sting on his wrist, where he saw that Lilith had just taken a light bite. 'What is it, Lilly?' Noah asked mentally.

'You are truly worse off than I imagined. Look at that woman; at least say goodbye to her,' Lilith said in a disappointed voice. If she had hands, she would definitely be facing palm right now.

Noah stopped for a second, turned to the woman and politely said before leaving, "Good night, until another time."

The woman believed that Noah would strangely leave, but in fact when he stopped to say goodbye to her, she didn't feel like it was something unpleasantly selfish, but like something just genuine, slightly like it was something he was told by someone to do.

In return for Noah's farewell, she gave a polite nod and continued to sit on the bench, but this time instead of watching the starry sky, her attention was on the bird on Noah's shoulder, sometimes taking advantage of a moment to peck a bug from Noah's head, just showing how close they really were.

Noah came home, put more spare rations in the bowl just for Terrence, since in addition to Lilith having telekinesis that she could use to take her own food, she also preferred to feed on the energy of Noah's arm instead of feeding on food made only to survive - food without the true flavors of life, not like the delicious food that Noah normally made.

Terrence was pleased that he wouldn't go hungry this time, which made Noah stroke his head before going to his room and preparing for the engagement he now had.

This would be the first game he would play with his Valorwatch team, so Noah was a little anxious. Even more after Carlos said he would broadcast their matches live so they could watch the recording later without having to transfer files to each other. Carlos's account was new to the live stream site, so they knew that no one would be watching his broadcast, which was good news, since no one wanted to be overly pressured, and they would probably be mocked for playing badly at some point.

Noah was concerned about the championship however. He knew that even with his current strength, winning against a team of Ranks E and Rank D would be very difficult unless he really gave 101% of himself to try to reach Rank C strength, but that was something he didn't consider to be something that was really worthwhile. At that point it was better to just lose the championship and put that aside.

What Noah did not imagine when it came to that live stream that Carlos was going to do, and especially the championship they were about to participate in, was that his fame was already much higher than he knew. Noah just thought that some people would know who he was, but not that almost all the Blessed Rank F, Rank E, and some Rank D people knew him very well, and that this would turn into more problems, or a possibly very advantageous solution for him.
