As soon as Roy ingested the pill, an indescribable rush of energy overtook his body, akin to a thunderous storm brewing within him. He felt an intense force building within him that surged upwards from the pit of his stomach until it finally collided with the opening of his sea of consciousness.

Boom!

Then, as if the sky had rumbled, a deafening roar erupted from within him, along with a shockwave. The shockwave that emanated from Roy’s body was so intense that it seemed as though a fierce storm was raging inside of him, and it shook everything in its place. The room trembled as if a natural disaster had struck, and even the closed doors and windows rattled in response. It was as if some unseen force had rebelled against the natural order of things as if the very heavens themselves had been challenged.

A notification followed afterward.

Roy’s eyes widened in pure ecstasy, like a child who had just discovered a hidden treasure trove. The sensation he felt because of his sea of consciousness opening was both exhilarating and daunting, like drowning in an unknown abyss for god knows how many years before suddenly finding yourself in paradise. It left him breathless and also filled with a deep sense of bliss and wonder.

When his sea of consciousness opened, the surroundings came into his focus with startling clarity. Every detail was laid out before him like a vivid painting, from the intricacies of the world around him to the subtle emotions playing out on people’s faces, and these people were separated from him by obstacles such as walls and houses and distance, yet he could still see them. It was as if he had been granted a gift of superhuman perception, an extra set of divine eyes that allowed him to see everything around him with awe-inspiring clarity.

He was taken over by unbridled excitement as what he was experiencing was a sensation beyond anything he had ever experienced.

It turns out that his guess was right. Even when he closed his eyes, the world remained as visible to him as ever because of his mind’s eyes.

“I wonder how far I can see with my mind’s eye?”

Roy closed his eyes and took a deep breath, centering his thoughts on the task at hand.

Quietly, he let his consciousness flow out of his sea of consciousness.

As his consciousness expanded, he could see with remarkable clarity the bustling activity in the parks, restaurants, and streets of Constantine County.

In the park nearby, he saw children laughing and playing, their carefree joy infectious and uplifting. Across the street, he witnessed the frenzied energy of a chef expertly preparing a mouthwatering dish in a bustling restaurant, the aroma of the sizzling ingredients wafting through the air. Roy’s attention was then drawn to a group of people gathered in the tightly guarded forbidden area of the County, where the Count and his men were welcoming a Knight Errant who had just arrived through the teleportation gate. The Knight’s armor glinted in the sunlight as he bowed to the Count, a gesture of respect for the lord of the land.

Not only could he see them, but with a little bit of focus, he could also hear every word they spoke. The knight had come with a magic formation that could block off the sewer exits in a manner that made it impossible to enter from the exterior but permitted anything within to escape!

Roy’s consciousness was expanding, and thus something unexpected flashed before his mind’s eyes. Amidst all the innocent and respectable activities, he also stumbled upon something more private and intimate! Hundreds of couples were engaging in the act of lovemaking, their bodies entwined in an expression of love and desire.

Cough!

He coughed abruptly, taken aback by the sudden intrusion of such a private moment. With a jolt, he withdrew his expanding consciousness, feeling a little embarrassed by what he had inadvertently stumbled upon.

“I must admit, It was quite a sight!”

“Damn. I feel like a pervert now.”

A notification suddenly rang in his mind.

[-3 Mental energy!]

“I lost a few units of mental energy? It must be because of using the Mind’s eye.” Roy concluded. “But it’s not a problem. I still have enough mental energy to perform divine alchemy a few times.”

His sea of consciousness contained the mental energy that he had amassed by slaying the undead in the ashen wasteland. Ever since he opened his sea of consciousness, the texture of his amassed energy became apparent to him – it was icy cold, yet had an ethereal quality to it, almost weightless like a feather.

His sea of consciousness was akin to a universe and contained a small pond of mental energy. If Obsidian Overlord had seen it, he would have been shocked. One’s sea of consciousness couldn’t be that vast. Even his wasn’t infinite! Only two beings were believed to have such a vast sea of consciousness. One was the creator, and the other was the butcher of the galaxies and gods that dared to challenge the creator and all its creation!

Roy was completely unaware of that fact. He didn’t know how unique his sea of consciousness was!

‘I will be able to perform Divine Alchemy after I learn the way to manipulate mental energy. Let’s get to it,’ he thought.
