Into the Zombie World

Chapter 61 - Stats Function

Nile and Maximo just sat there for an hour doing nothing. It is also due to the fact that Nile could make any excessive movement for now. His head is still aching from that punch he received.

If the System included health points on his Stats, his current health points right now must be at 60/100.

In Maximo's case, he was also hit hard twice on his neck. Fortunately, the punch he received is not as powerful as the one Nile got at the end. The straw-hat zombie must have really put all of its remaining strength on that one.

Nile glance at the System prompt inside his head.

[Level One° Apocalypse Virus harvested.

Converted into 5 Apocalypse Points.]

Nile shook his head. For the first time, he felt cheated by the System. That was a powerful zombie, he almost died in that fight.

But the increment on his stats and Apocalypse Points remains the same when he killed a Level One° zombie that had just Levelled Up.

He reckoned that when he was still at Level Zero°, killing Level Zero° zombies gave him 0.5 increments on his stats. But now that he is at Level One°, an increase of 0.5 is a luxury.

Host: Nile

Level One°

Will: 7.76

Consitution:7.26

Energy: 7.26(4.12)

Weapon:

Level One° Sledge Hammer

Level One° Katana of Liberation

Talent:

Level One° Weapons Master

A.P.: 75.5

L.P.(Level Points): 0

A meagre increment of .05 on his stats and 5 on his Apocalypse Points.

Nile asks the System about this.

[When the Host is previously at Level Zero°, a slight amount of addition on Apocalypse Virus can make a qualitative change to the Host's Constitution, hence the reason why the Host could gain 0.5 increments on stat points during that time.

When the Host Levelled to Level One°, the System remodelled the Host body structure to be in the best form. The 0.05 increment on Host stats at Level One° is equivalent to an increment of 5.0 stats while on Level Zero°.

From Level One° onwards, as the Host's body is now in the optimal condition and no longer need any readjustments, it means that even if the Host's successfully Levelled Up to Level Two, the increment on stats while killing Level One° zombie remains the same at 0.05.

The Host must know that the System only collected a portion of the overall Apocalypse Virus of a Zombie to maintain itself. The System is fair, and the System's sole purpose is to help the Host to become stronger.]

The System defended itself with its usual lengthy explanation. But with that explanation, Nile somehow understands what the System is implying.

If it was not Nile and someone else is the one fighting the zombie, even if they have the same constitution, Will, weapon and defensive clothes as Nile, without the best body shape, they will surely not have the same result.

The System relies on Nile to collect the Apocalypse Virus as a way to sustain itself. The System does not want Nile to risk himself confronting zombie's stronger than him.

Level One zombies with a strength and Constitution of 14.99 will still give Nile the usual 0.05 increment on stats and 0.5 increments on Apocalypse Virus.

Of course, if Nile could kill a Level Two° zombie while still being a Level One°, the stats increment he can gain must also be higher compared to killing zombies at the same level.

All in all, Nile concluded that fighting zombie's that are stronger than him is a complete waste of time. It was risky and is not user friendly.

It was alright if he killed a Level One° zombie with 8.0 constitution he would also gain 8.0 Apocalypse Virus and 0.08 increase on stats. Taking a little risk with that kind of reward is logical, but with his current circumstances? Fighting stronger zombies is an idiotic idea.

Unfortunately, Nile doesn't have the option to check the stats of his opponent. Or doesn't he?

The System emphasizes this to Nile before, it still has dozens of functions that are still waiting to be discovered.

Nile realized this and remembered that some System novels he read before had the option to check and identify the status of others.

Nile smacked himself again for forgetting about this. Still, Nile could not be blamed. He had just transmigrated a few days ago, after all. And unlike the protagonist of those novels who gained the ability to recall the happenings in their previous life perfectly, Nile doesn't have the same privilege.

Nile lamented on how unfair the world is.

Nile did not wait any longer. As he was still a little groggy and his head was still aching, he could not muster any strength to stand up.

Nile crawled towards the dead straw-hat zombie and stared intently on its corpse.

Inspect!

Search!

Identify!

Check?

...

Nile tried many different ways on how to inspect the status of his enemy by shouting words inside his head.

Fortunately, after trying his luck, the System responded and showed the zombie's stats when he yelled 'stats' inside his head.

[Level One° Apocalypse Virus (Partial Memory): 8.20

Constitution: 8.20

Status: Deceased]

'Fuck!' Nile cursed himself inside his head.

If only he knew that the zombie's stats are that high. He will surely retreat at the first sight of it. It is not cowardice; it is what they called a strategic retreat. It was better than having blind courage that could lead to death.

His 7.26 Constitution, 7.76 Will versus the zombie's 8.20 Constitution and Apocalypse Virus concentration. It must be noted that a slight increment of stats points on Level One° and above can make a huge difference of strength.

Fighting with that kind of point difference. If it was not suicide, what was?

How lucky for them to kill that zombie. The credit all goes to the System. The defensive clothes and the weapon really help a lot. Of course, Nile also praised himself and Maximo. But surely, without the defensive clothes and the weapon, they are dead for sure.

Nile realizes again how dangerous this world is. It is not that he is forgetting this fact, but every time he encounters something new, his opinion and danger assessment about this world just keeps on getting renewed.

Nile lamented on how useless he is without the System. Without it, he must still be at the Village of Malibo right now, avoiding Level Zero° zombie's as much as possible.

Nile did not dwindle on that matter for long. Whoever gifted this System to him, Nile thanks them from the bottom of his heart. He will surely make the most use of it. He will not waste this opportunity given to him to become stronger and survive easily.

So what if he relies on the System? It was his. Do you expect him to let it sit there and do nothing?

'I will cling to this System until the end!' Nile said mentally.

The end justifies the mean.

No matter what methods he used, as long as Nile survives until the end, Nile thought it would be worth it.
