Into the Zombie World

Chapter 51 - Limited Zombies

Nile really did not want to show off. Well, just a little?

In any case, he just felt the urge to jump suddenly with no apparent reason.

He had experienced this kind of sensation many times before in his previous life. When he was at a high building while staring down, he would have this urge to jump down. But since he knew that he would end up dead after doing that, he did not do anything rashly, fortunately.

But now that he has the ability to jump from that height and still be unscathed after, why not?

After admiring Nile's courage to jump over from the second floor, the next to descend was Sissa.

It was then followed by Goryo and Polonyo. As the four horsemen could not decide who would go first, they settled it with a jack en poy.

All of them descended successfully, well apart from Simon, who slips his hands from the curtain rope and falls to the ground butt first. Luckily, it was already not far from the ground, or else, he will really end up on a not-so-simple back pain after.

The sky is already starting to turn bright, as the sun is now ready to shine on the land.

Ombit and the others departed along with Sissa towards the Kanor Department Store.

As Nile thought that it was a waste of time going there, he decided to roam around and search for zombies in the areas he had not gone to before.

Nile got lucky and found a group of Half-Step Level One° zombies fighting each other. It was quite a rare sight. But Nile did not watch the bout for too long and decided to end their misery.

With a slash from the Katana of Liberation, a zombie's head will be split in half. With a pierce, a zombie will immediately fall to ground with a satisfied expression on its face.

With that bunch of zombies, Nile had collected a total of 3.5 Apocalypse Points. His Will, Constitution and Energy did not have even an ounce of increment on it.

Nile hoped to meet another Level One° Zombie soon so that he could get stronger.

Nile then realizes something. Zombies are expendable and limited, they do not respawn just like on the games he had played before in his previous life.

Let's say, for example, at the start of the Apocalypse, if the total population of the zombies equals the 80% population of the whole Pangea Continent, then right now, that amount would not even exceed 50%.

After a few more days, that amount might increase because of some people getting bitten and infected, but that amount will not be able to compare to the mortality rate of the zombies.

Sooner or later, that percentage will continue to decrease until all of the remaining zombies are already Level One° or even Level Two° and above.

While the humans remaining 20% may dwindle a little, that could still not be compared to the amount that the zombie's side is losing every day.

Now, that might be good for the humans, but that surely is not the case. Fewer zombies means that a lot of their kind had already ascended to a more powerful zombie. Fewer zombies means fewer chances of getting stronger.

Nile suddenly felt the urge to increase his pace of killing the zombies.

Just like any other human, he will surely not like to get behind as well.

What if the time will come that there are no longer any zombies that he could kill and all of the humans had already Levelled Up to a higher level while he himself is still stuck at Level Two° or Three° because of his laziness?

'D*mn, I don't like that!' Nile thought.

He continued his search but this time; he is doing it meticulously, searching every nook and cranny wherever he goes.

The yellow ball of sun is already at the center of the sky, agreeing to the fact that it was already noon.

Its rays are piercingly hot, but because Nile is wearing the garments bought from the System, he did not have any discomfort while killing the zombies. He will always feel warm. It looks like these clothes have an air-conditioning function attached to them.

After almost seven hours of grinding, Nile is joyful to the increment of .15 on his Will, Constitution and Energy as well as the increment of 23 on his Apocalypse Points.

He killed a total of three Level One° zombies and 16 Half-Step Level One° zombies.

Just like he previously thought, he no longer sees any Level Zero° zombies around. While the zombie population count is decreasing, their strength is increasing.

Nile took a glimpse of his Status inside his head and could not help but grumble.

He is still too slow. His stats are not even half-way through the threshold of Level Two° right now.

Well, apart from his advance Will, that is.

He currently doesn't have anything to buy on the System Store, so he could now 'really' save his Apocalypse Points for his advancement to Level Two° later.

Nile thought that it was better to be frugal while it is still early.

Nile decided to increase his pace yet again. He expected himself to Level Up into Level Two° by a week at most.

Procrastinating will now be set aside and he will now take his grinding 'very' seriously.

He eats his lunch quickly and goes back to grinding.

When the sun is already at forty-five degree angle to the west, Nile could only stop reluctantly as he could no longer find any zombie wherever he goes.

Strangely though, he did not chance upon Sissa and the others. Nile suddenly thought, what if wherever they are, there are still a lot of zombies there?

'What a waste!' Nile thought.

But he did not mull over it for long. He has his own destination, and that is to the town.

He estimated that he might still arrive at the next village if he started to jog now.

With that thought, Nile instantly bolstered towards the next Barangay.

There are three Sitios in between Compud Village and the next village, Ulhi Village.

A few minutes later, Nile arrived at Sitio Tambis.

He did not waste any time and searched the whole Sitio of any zombie.

After fifteen minutes, he finished the search and jogged again towards the next Sitio.

And just like what Nile had estimated, he really arrived at Ulhi Village when the sky was already orange and the sun was already starting to rest.

Sitio Lomboy is the first of the two Sitio that Nile had to pass in order to reach the central part of Ulhi.

As it was already starting to get dark, Nile decided to search for a house and rest there first.

Even if he did really feel the urgency to get stronger, resting is still a must. After that much of a jog or run, his Energy is now at a 3.8+/7.11, it was rather low.

And Nile really felt a little exhausted.

Fortunately, he managed to kill two wandering Level One° zombie's along the way so it is still worth it.

After searching for a while, Nile did not find any houses, so he decided to climb a tree and rest on its branches instead.

He purposely chooses a short tree with a thick branch so the probability of falling off will be low and if he did fall, it will only hurt him a little.

Nile looked at his status and could only be contented for now.

He ate his dinner quickly and decided to sleep early so he could also wake up early.

'Early bird catches the worm'. Nile said as his consciousness slowly faded in the far away cosmos.
