Into the Zombie World

Chapter 145 - Big Discount Offered By The System

A few hours later.

"Hmm, is this the last bullet? Alright then, let's take another headshot." Nile said as he inspected the magazine of the sniper rifle.

He glanced at his back and noticed that his pets were getting sleepy from boredom.

"Max, Croc, help me search for another target!"

The two instantly stood up, their bodies became erect, straight like a pillar, even soldiers would feel awe for them.

After hearing Nile, both of them instantly went to the rooftop's corner to search far and wide for Nile's target.

He felt amused while watching the two animals become busy.

After a while, the two raised their front legs or hoof and pointed towards the same location at the same time.

'Moo!'

'Grrr'

The two turned their heads towards each other before growling.

"I spotted it first."

"No, it's me!"

"Stop that you two. It doesn't matter who spotted it first, what matters is that you helped me! You two are the best." Nile stood up and moved towards the location of his pets. He then laid down the sniper rifle and aimed where the two were pointing.

Meanwhile, at his back, Maximo and Croco seem to have become bashful all of a sudden after hearing their master's compliment. They keep poking at each other alternately as if saying,

"Hoho...You're the best!"

"No, you are!"

"Pfft... Stop that, it's you!"

"Pfft… What are you saying… Yes, it's you!"

As he aimed, a female zombie with a long and sharp nail, bloated belly, and a deep gash on its chest appeared on his scoop. He realized that the zombie was injured, hence the reason for its limp walking.

'Doesn't matter, a zombie is a zombie. A zombie means an increase of strength and Apocalypse Points.'

Shooob!

As he pulled the trigger, the silent sound of a sniper being suppressed traveled faintly to his ears.

At the same time, in the far distance, the zombie he just shot fell to the ground with a thud. The upper half of the zombie's head was pulverized by the sniper rifle's bullet.

"Phew*... Thirty headshot streaks. If I had the Instant Adapter Talent in my previous life, I would have probably won every round of that first-person shooting game and wouldn't become a laughing stock for having a 1% win rate." Nile said.

After a few minutes, the sniper rifle glowed with red and disappeared at the same time. The left bracelet also vanished after the red glow. The right bracelet, which is the Guns in One Ammo Bracelet didn't disappear, but it couldn't be used either. He still needs to load it with bullets after all.

Fifty Apocalypse Points, per small box.

He then checked the System Logs to calculate his earnings.

"Oooh. That last one was a Level Two° zombie? Hehehe... lucky, lucky…"

It was a surprise for Nile, as well. He didn't think that the weak looking and gravely wounded female zombie with a bloated belly was a Level Two°.

'Hmmm. So in total, I got 2.40 increments for my stats. 1.40 for the 28 Level One°, while 1.0 for the last Level Two° zombie.'

'I only earned 160 Apocalypse Points with that one, 40 less than what I've spent. So all in all, I spend 40 Apocalypse Points for 2.40 increments in stats. It may seem like a loss, but I actually earned a huge profit.'

'Being a gunner is a bottomless pit, but a lucrative profession at the same time. Every bullet you fired is equivalent to wasting an Apocalypse Points, and at the same time, every bullet you fired is equivalent to earning Apocalypse Points. It is an endless cycle of spending and earning.'

'Well, if I managed to hit a jackpot every time and every bullet fired is equivalent to a Level Two° zombie's head, then it is actually a lucrative profession.'

'Wait… Huh?' Nile's smile disappeared as he just realized something unusual.

'1, 2, 3… 28 Level One° and 1 Level Two° zombie.' He counted the System logs and it was still the same.

It was missing 1 Level One° zombie.

'Strange, I haven't missed a single head for the 30 rounds of bullets but why are the logs missing one zombie?'

'Hmm? Are you trying to steal my Apocalypse Points, System?'

[Host the System couldn't be wrong. You only killed 28 Level One° zombies and 1 Level Two° zombie.]

'Huh? What happened to the other bullet then? Tsk...'

[I repeat Host, the System is not wrong in its calculation.]

'You say that but you're unwilling to tell me where the last bullet had gone. Alright then, just offer me a big discount for not telling me.'

[Ding!

'Fuck you are clearly messing with me. Accept. 2% discount is better than nothing.'

Nile no longer cared about the System and proceeded to check his stats.

He muttered 'stats' and the stats page appeared inside his mind.

"23.95? I'm still weak at the moment. If I managed to reach Level Three°, then I would definitely feel safer."

"I need to work harder!"

He then got up from the rooftop and wears his hoodie hat.

"Max, Croc, what are you two doing? Stop flattering each other already, come on, we still need to kill 100 more zombies this time." Nile said confidently as he hops on Maximo's back.

"Of course, safety is my priority so we should not be showy. Let's only kill 50 more before the sun sets on the west."

"He… yah!"

What he didn't know is that, at the moment, he was the hot topic of the day, for the Town of Daan.
