Chapter 781: Losing as the Main Character

Chapter 781: Losing as the Main Character

Core Skill—Lore (Level 4)!

Core Skill—Lore (Level 16)!

Core Skill—Lore (Level 64)!

Core Skill—Lore (Level 92)!

Compass Carburettor was in a daze, watching his Core Skill level up like crazy and stop after it had attained level 92.

And immediately after, Mental Energy gushed out of his body in torrents, with their content—thoughts—congregating to form a sentence that resounded throughout the place, echoing in the minds of everyone present.

Slayer smiled in response, allowing the Mental Energy to seep into the Fantasy World and resound in the minds of every inhabitant there.

[There was once a shepherd, protecting his sheep from the wolves, laid to rest by his cunning foes, but now, he returns from slumber, to deliver freedom for the sheeple, as the sole, original Main Character!]

‘As the sole, original Main Character’ was a statement missing in what was conveyed to Compass Carburettor. But upon hearing the extension, Compass Carburettor’s expression was one of alarm, ‘I fell into a trap!’

At the same time, Conjurer continued to emit the terrifying energy wave more and more as something akin to a nervous system manifested in his body. This nervous system consisted of all the influence on him from the world Compass Carburettor lived in recently.

As this world formed one of the cores of his self, it highlighted in such a way that it was depicted akin to a human’s central nervous system in his body.

Thanks to Compass Carburettor’s actions, the forbidden tale’s effect had been integrated into the core of the power system forming that world. Meaning, every single denizen there had been influenced by the Main Character System to a certain extent, forming tiny fragments in their minds.

And, as the growth of an Invoker there depended on how much they were influenced by the Main Character System, considering how the rearrangement of the Mental Fragments in their Dreamland was faster the stronger they were influenced, it meant that everyone in the world was actively trying to become Main Character, forming the perfect recipe for its growth.

And as a result, part of Conjurer’s body had already been compromised. As unlike Immortal or the other Genre Representatives, Conjurer had never been targeted by a System before, he wasn’t aware of the means to deal with the infection plaguing him at the moment.

He would have to wholly extract the infection before cutting off the infected world fully to escape this plight. But before he could attempt that, the power of Lore took effect as suddenly, the Main Character System fragments began to appear in his body spontaneously.

This was the Main Character System’s trait. Irrespective of the universe, the moment someone defied their fate and survived, a Main Character System fragment would form in their body.

Therefore, instantly, hundreds of Main Character System fragments appeared in Conjurer’s body, fusing into the glowing central nervous system to strengthen it further.

Compass Carburettor’s body began to melt as the Main Character System fragments supporting him vanished one after another, causing his strength to plummet at an alarming level. Moreover, the powers of everyone seemed to be sucked into Conjurer’s body, taken away by the Main Character System fragments.

At the centre of the location where the peak powers of the multiverse were gathered, before the eyes of all, defying one’s fate, there he was, an individual erased from the past now reviving upon the grave of the present.

Main Character—Arnark!

Boom!

The Relic shuddered before thousands of streams gushed out of it and entered Conjurer. They were the Skills and Core Skills it possessed, now all being absorbed by Arnark.

“You…bastard!” Conjurer was alarmed as he bellowed in response, shouting at Zaira, “Help me, Zaira!”

Boom!

Zaira unleashed a torrent of Core Skills in order to save him and stop Arnark’s revival. But right at this time, Slayer unleashed his powers, using the brunt of his abilities to barely stop her.

Moreover, he siphoned the Fantasy World’s power reserve, using his home ground advantage to harness the universe’s fate to create a seal that protected Conjurer from the attacks of the Systems.

As for the Genre Representatives, none attacked. It was how they were, undecisive when necessary. After all, they weren’t an individual but a collective consciousness of the entire worlds they represented.

Moreover, Arnark was their ally. And hence, when posed with the question of supporting Compass Carburettor or Arnark, they stood on the fence, deciding to ally with whoever wins among the two.

“Ugh!” Slayer grunted in pain, as even after summoning the entirety of his strength, he was being pressed into a corner by Zaira’s relentless attacks. From the front, she attacked while from behind, the Grade 3 Systems attacked, with Apocalypse taking the lead.

At this time, Regression targeted Conjurer, intending to cause his timeline to regress to the moment before Arnark did whatever was happening to Conjurer.

But an instant later, its powers were blocked by the cocoon of fate that enveloped Arnark. Moreover, over time, this cocoon was growing stronger, fuelled by the Main Character System fragments that continued to flow into Conjurer.

Boom!

The Relic lost all light as the last of the Main Character System Fragment forming it was pulled out, causing it to dissipate and vanish.

The same was happening to Domino Plottopia too as she lost all the powers gained from the Hunter World. Gahrat lost everything she gained from the Cultivation Worlds, continuing to lose more and more of her powers as the fragments in her continued to disappear.

As for Compass Carburettor, he grunted in struggle, desperately holding onto the Core Skill of Lore in him as it was slowly being wrestled for control by Arnark.

“Compass! Do something!” Gahrat shouted as she lost consciousness, for the last of the Main Character System fragment in her vanished.

“Seems we’ve lost.” Domino Plottopia sighed as the last of her Main Character System fragment vanished too.

The moment this happened, Compass Carburettor lost the strength to resist in the tug-of-war as the Core Skill of Lore vanished, claimed by Arnark. But in this despairing situation, Compass Carburettor’s eyes drifted onto his daughter that was held captive beside Conjurer as suddenly, his body melted into a puddle of Mental Fragments that devoured the bodies of both Domino Plottopia and Gahrat, assimilating both into himself.

And using the last of his strength, he grunted, summoning with all his might, “Help me, Hazen!”

“Already on it!” Hazen’s voice resounded as immediately, Conjurer’s body turned immobile.
