I Hate Systems

Chapter 779: Aren’t We Buddies?

Chapter 779: Aren’t We Buddies?

“This fucker dares?” The Grade 3 Apocalypse System glared in anger at Compass Carburettor, intending to destroy the other party immediately. With its strength, it was indeed possible, as it was one of the strongest Grade 3 Systems.

“You sure you want to antagonise them this much?” Mascot appeared next to Compass Carburettor and whispered in his ears, “They would readily hunt you after this, you know.”

“They would hunt me after this no matter what.” Compass Carburettor smiled wryly, “The moment Zaira saw me, I realised that my future would become turbulent. Instead of avoiding it, I might as well gear the advantages my way. Getting my hands on the Tell-Tale System’s power would amplify mine tremendously.”

He then whispered even more softly, “My Lore would become potent enough to transform a World’s laws completely. I can rewrite it if I wish to do so. That means, I can go around the worlds you’re in charge of and alter them to allow your powers to be effective against Systems.”

“You needn’t say more.” Mascot nodded as she stared at Slayer, expressing her stance on the matter. Her expression implied that if Slayer were to refuse the deal, she would charge into his world and wreak havoc.

“Hahaha! Interesting! As expected, your true nature as a merchant never fades away, huh.” Slayer broke into laughter all of a sudden before shaking his head, “But, your deal is geared against my favour. The moment I dare harm Tell-Tale System, Zaira would come at me with reckless abandon. Getting one more profession isn’t worth the danger.”

“I’m neither their enemy nor their ally. Anyone that attacks my world would be met with retaliation, as simple as that.” Slayer continued as he stared at Compass Carburettor, “So, what else can you offer me other than the Conjurer Profession?”

“Our deal is off unless your offer is lucrative enough.” He grinned and stared at Stencil and Gehera, “Now, that is something I’ll risk my neck to obtain.”

Slayer’s words brought the attention of everyone to Gehera and Stencil. It was done purposefully. And with what he said, everyone came to understand the uniqueness of the two girls, placing pressure on Compass Carburettor.

Initially, Compass Carburettor’s trade deal was to simply piss off Zaira and make her focus on Slayer. After all, the moment he dared go against the Tell-Tale System, he was dead.

Even though they were currently at a standoff, Compass Carburettor had zero intentions to fight them, aware that the moment he does so, he would be crippled immensely. The level of enemies he had to face was beyond what he could endure.

Even though at the start, when he appeared, his power of Lore overwhelmed Zaira, but that was only thanks to the fate of the world—under Conjurer that he lived at for a year—that he borrowed. As it was under his influence, he could treat it as his.

Hence why he was able to activate his Lore to such a powerful extent that a massive quantity of fate was summoned. He had attempted twice, failing in the end. And now, he didn’t have the guarantee in completing the Lore that he had prepared.

He didn’t have enough stockpile of fate to do so. Currently, he was a paper tiger. Even though all the Main Characters have been accumulating at a tremendous pace, they had only been at it for around two years, not enough time to amass a significant amount of power.

So, even though he had a terrifying entry, the moment they fight for an extended duration, his powers would be expended completely. Besides, Compass Carburettor hadn’t amassed the necessary experience to truly wield his power against enemies that had been doing the same for millions of years.

Therefore, his true intention was to simply flee with Stencil. Currently, with Domino Plottopia’s power, he could jump to any world that Secret Society, Gahrat’s seeds, or people bestowed with his Anthozoa were at.

But of course, the moment he does so, his enemies would be able to casually trace his whereabouts. It would be a foolish move, especially since the Grade 4 System, Regression was here.

If not for Slayer locking this universe’s timeline using the tremendous amassed fate, things would have turned dangerous.

So, in order to properly escape and leave behind no traces that the Systems could derive, he had to first create enough chaos that everything gets disrupted completely. Only then would he be able to escape; only he and his daughter took priority.

If necessary, Compass Carburettor planned to sacrifice the rest. Domino Plottopia would be able to revive through Dota while Gahrat had her means too. Though, it might take them years to do so. As for the Relic, it would be unfortunate, but Compass Carburettor didn’t have a choice.

If given a choice, he would ensure at least Stencil survives, even at the cost of his life.

“Something lucrative, huh.” Compass Carburettor muttered, nodding as if Slayer’s words made perfect sense. He removed the armour covering him, causing the Relic in the form of a shield to hover before him as he gazed at Slayer, “One of the Main Characters created using the power of your world.”

“What about this?” He grinned, letting out a smug expression, “Your world would obtain the final piece of the puzzle with this.”

Slayer’s eyes widened in response, ‘Final piece of the puzzle?’

[There once existed a tool, a weapon of million forms, a hope, that can save me from this crisis.]

Slayer recalled the Lore that created the Relic, focusing on the final line, ‘A Hope, that can save me from this crisis. Does that apply to this situation too?’

He stared at the shield, ‘It means there is something hidden within the Relic, a tremendous power. And since those at the time of its birth are my Slayers and the Aero Society under Compass Carburettor, only we know its value.’

‘I see,’ Slayer nodded, turning a tad excited, for he realised that the Relic was capable of transforming into a million forms. It meant that he could give that attribute to the Universe Relics, truly allowing him to wield the powers of all his professions in the most versatile form. ‘This power would allow me to express my strength more freely. And, I can even create stronger races to face the Systems in the future.’

‘That was a good one, Compass.’ Slayer truly hesitated now, for the value of the Relic indeed spurred him to risk his neck. Gradually, Slayer’s head turned around to face Zaira, letting out a peaceful smile, akin to a child. “Zaira, aren’t we buddies?”
