Chapter 118: Coincidence? Or Not!

Chapter 118: Coincidence? Or Not!

“Dodge!” Rikune shouted as she unleashed her Crescent Moon energy blade, severing the tree trunk that flew at Regriel, barely causing him to evade on time as the severed halves of the tree trunk crashed into the ground, forming a small trench as they slid forward.

“Dammit, Regriel! Snap out of it!” Rikune made eye contact with General Artica, causing the other party to help Regriel, snapping him awake.

“Don’t give in to fear!” General Artica said, “We’ll survive as long as you keep your wits with you.”

“I will.” Regriel nodded, taking out his Armaments as he was ready to use them to attack the Transcendent Haggon before them.

“It makes no sense of a Haggon of this strength to be on level 1. Dammit!” Rikune cursed as she unleashed a Crescent Moon energy blade, intending to pierce the Haggon’s neck first. And, she was surprised when her energy blade managed to touch the opponent, something she hadn’t thought would happen so easily.

But, she then frowned, for her energy blade failed to sink in deeper, even though the place she had attacked was just the neck. “Just how tough is this freaking thing?”

She increased the Darlac within the Crescent Moon energy blade, causing it to oscillate as it began to dig deeper and deeper into the Haggon’s neck. Though, Rikune retracted them immediately the moment the Haggon raised its hand a little, looking like it was about to touch the energy blade.

Upon seeing her action, it grinned, pointing the index finger of its right hand towards the sky, condensing a ball-shaped energy blade. It began to rotate as the Haggon looked at Rikune, suddenly grabbing the ball before throwing it at her.

“What the heck does it plan to do with this?” Rikune failed to understand. After all, an energy blade didn’t have any mass. So, if they were used as projectiles, they wouldn’t even tickle the opponents. After all, due to lacking any mass, they couldn’t be felt by those that were attacked.

But just in case, she didn’t intend to take risks, unleashing a Crescent Moon energy blade to use its curvature and deflect the ball-shaped energy blade. But, in the instant they came into contact, the ball-shaped energy blade expanded to twenty times its size.

The force generated during its expansion was similar to the energy blades, using it to slam into her Crescent Moon energy blade. The force was transferred into her through her energy blades, causing her to cough up blood and be sent flying.

She hadn’t fathomed such an attack. Thereby, she was caught off guard.

“Rikune!” Regriel ran and caught hold of her, sliding on the ground upon falling. He noticed blood leaking out of Rikune’s nose as it seemed like she was unable to see clearly for a moment.

Minor Healing—Level 2!

Regriel quickly healed Rikune, allowing her to get up with a start and charge towards the Haggon while shouting, “This Haggon has an affinity to being both a Warrior and a Puppeteer. The balls it creates are Puppets, maintained in such a shape. We don’t know what exactly they are capable of yet.”

But right as she said so, the Haggon nonchalantly threw three ball-shaped energy blades at her, causing them to expand to fifty times their size upon arriving in her proximity.

Rikune was unable to defend promptly, having resorted to using her Crescent Moon energy blades to jump into the air, barely dodging the attacks, watching the three balls collide into each other before bouncing in other directions.

The moment they bounced, they rapidly shrunk in size as they headed towards each of the three people accurately. It was as if the Haggon had predicted the way they would move.

After all, following the collision between the three ball-shaped energy blades, one of them bounced into the air, following her.

And the moment they appeared near their targets, they expanded in size once again. Rikune was only able to use her energy blades on the ball before her, being sent flying in the air even further, causing the distance between her and the other two to increase.

In her anger, she unleashed a strong Crescent Moon energy blade, sending the ball-shaped energy blade flying towards the Haggon, intending to slam it into the other party’s face. But, the Haggon grinned as usual, not bothering even glance her way, causing the ball flying towards it to vanish.

It then threw another ball towards Rikune, repeating the same action, sending her higher and higher up into the air using the expansion of the ball to perfectly angle her into the air. And, the balls it threw curved in the air to hit Rikune in the perfect direction to do so.

General Artica was in an even worse situation, forced to use her Armament to defend against the attacks. But, she wasn’t able to use the energy blades freely like Rikune, dependent entirely on her Armaments.

So, the maximum strength she could exhibit was limited by her Armament’s ability to use her Darlac. Due to that, she was unable to even defend against the attacks as her energy blades were shattered one after another while she was sent flying by the impacts, crashing into the ground.

Regriel was the worst of them all, lacking General Artica’s strength or expertise, having only been fighting for a month. So, he wasn’t even able to dodge or block the energy ball, getting hit directly to be sent flying into the trunk of a tree.

He hurriedly healed his injuries and was just about to retaliate when another energy ball slammed into him, expanding in the process to send him flying far away.

He crashed through the trees one after another, the energy blade he used to shield himself had shattered by now, cracking his ribs in the process as he flashed through the forest terrain like a ragged doll, rolling on the ground before stopping atop a raised platform.

He barely managed to reorient himself as he noticed that the raised platform he was atop was actually the foot of a Haggon that was sleeping at the place. And, it hadn’t even noticed his presence, for his body weight wasn’t even enough to make it feel anything. Thankfully, it was sleeping. Otherwise, he would have been doomed.

Flustered, Regriel was just about to escape when he thought of something, looking between its legs to notice a natural cave’s entrance, thinking, ‘Will it work?’

He then placed his hands on its leg, activating his ability.
