Everything happened to quickly that past Zack didn’t know what to do. Mordred cackled like a mad man, the traces of amber vanishing from his eyes.

Apep had completely taken control over his body. Due to Mordred killing his father, Apep had managed to easily invade his body and take control over it.

The god couldn’t have appeared in the world through any other means.

“I have already taken care of your timeline god, Kai as well as his brother Odin,” Mordred cackled. “You are on your own.”

‘I can’t watch this again…’ Zack shut his eyes close.

He already knew that Apep would kill his past version and his friends. There was nothing any of them could do against such a powerful primordial god who had broken all restrictions.

‘Now I know why Kai and Odin didn’t help us. Odin was chained in heaven by Apep while Kai had fled to preserve his energy.

It was as though the god of timelines had predicted this…

‘Wait, if he can see other timelines, he might have seen this scene in a timeline acting similar to this scene.’

[ Conspiracy theories… I have to admit that it sound quite legible but I don’t understand why he didn’t tell us about this. ]

‘You forget that telling someone about the future doesn’t necessarily change the future. Furthermore, Kai would’ve already seen what would happen if he did such a thing.’

[ Well, the only one who can answer that question isn’t present here. ]

‘True.’

Zack finally opened his eyes and looked at the battlefield. His past version was lying on the ground, the only survivor left.

Mordred stood above him, Apep still controlling his body.

‘It happens now.’ Zack thought silently. His eyes looked at the sky where blue mist had started gathering.

Just when Mordred was about to kill his white-haired version, the blue mist shot down. The entire battlefield froze due to the effects of Kai’s powers.

“Zack, do you want to save everyone?” Kai’s voice echoed around the entire battleground.

The white-haired Zack could only nod his head. He and Kai then talked mentally and made a promise.

A promise that lasted for hundreds of lifetimes.

‘He said that he would use his powers to reincarnate me through hundreds of timelines. I will lose my memories every time. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible for me to enter another timeline.

I have lived through countless lives, always trying to find all of my friends and loved ones. I never succeeded due to one or the other reason.’

Zack finally remembered what he had asked from Kai all those years ago.

‘He has expended his powers for so long just to take me from one timeline to another. The one I am currently living in is the best timeline. However, I died in this same timeline last time.

Kai had wanted to give me a headstart by sending me Gugnir but it didn’t work. Gugnir didn’t find that previous version of me compatible and I was stuck with weird powers.

But now, things are different.’ Zack raised his hands to his face and wiped the tears that had silently fallen from his eyes.

A fire had ignited inside him which made him want to crush Mordred as well as Apep’s skull.

The memories ended simultaneously. Zack appeared back in the chamber where the coffin was placed.

He eyed the coffin once before turn his back to it. Zack could feel his powers surging through the roof. He had recovered most of his powers with the recovery of his memories.

Zack could now remember the agony he had faced through countless lifetimes. Kai, however, hadn’t gone back on his words and continued to help him.

The god of timelines had only asked Zack to free him and his twin from the curse placed on them. Once that was done, both of them would be thankful towards Zack for the rest of their lives.

‘Instead, I should be the one who will be indebted to Kai and Odin for the rest of my life.’ Zack sighed.

He let his body relax for a few seconds, which made him teleport away.

Zack woke up in the palace of moon again. He was lying on a bed while Emma slept beside him.

[ She got tired after taking care of you for so long. ] Lance, who had woken up before Zack, explained.

He had explained most things to Emma but had left the major parts for Zack to tell. The Phoenix was sure that once Zack told Emma about their past, she would awaken her memories.

Zack slowly sat up and stared at his beautiful pink-haired lover. Emma had ran away from the moon palace in the past and had met him due to a tough situation.

She was being chased by slave traders. Her powers were useless since her body was still getting used to the mana of the new realm she had arrived in.

Zack had met her when he had been on a quest to kill every single slave trader. Emma had declared herself as his slave while the slave traders had circled both of them,

Zack hadn’t said anything for the first five minutes. On the other hand, Emma had tried her best to convince the slave traders that she was his slave.

She had hoped that the stranger would help her for the time being.

In the end, Zack had revealed his identity to the slave traders and had killed all of them one by one.

Emma had been stunned by his display of power and had wondered whether she had made the right choice.

‘I let you accompany me during my quest. After all, I was your best bet for surviving in this world. Once your body had gotten accustomed to mana, you were thinking about leaving but unfortunately, the people from the moon palace had located you.

‘Both of us had to fight them together and later on, you decided to accompany me back to my hometown.’

Zack smiled while reminiscing about the past. He wanted to go back to those times but he knew that it would be useless.

The future would come to pass even if he knew what was already going to happen.

Slowly, Emma stirred in her sleep. Her eyes fluttered open. Emma saw Zack looking at her with a sad expression on his face.

“What happened?” she questioned in a sleepy tone.

“A lot of things happened…” Zack replied with a sad smile.

He bent forward and kissed Emma. The latter was surprised by his actions but when the influx of memories hit her, her body went limp
