Hikari: Rise Of The Weapons Master

14 The Guardian Of Insects [ Part 1 ]

The real fairy king’s forest had ten guardians alongside the fairy king to protect the entire place and the one in the pseudo myth ranked dungeon were a degraded version of them.

Despite that, they were still annoying to fight. The strongest guardian was the guardian on the Wild which would appear after the previous 9 guardians had been defeated.

After each guardian was defeated by a player or a group of players, a new guardian would appear for the next player/players who would reach the center of the forest.

This would continue until the tenth guardian was defeated and the dungeon had been cleared.

But if two or more people were fighting the boss together, they would still count as different players and would be ranked according to the damage they dealt and the contribution they had towards defeating the boss.

For example, if three players were fighting the boss, the one who had the most contribution and damage would get the chance to choose one of the ten mythological weapons first.

After the other two had chosen the weapons, the game would skip the next guardians depending on the number of the people who had fought the last guardian.

So if three people had fought the guardian, the system would skip the next two guardians and would move to the fourth one.

As for the guardian Zack and WolfHeart were going to face, he already knew her.

[ The Guardian of insects is the chosen dungeon boss. ]

“I have a feeling that I am going to see a gross bug right now,” WolfHeart muttered as she had goosebumps all over her body.

She wasn’t a big fan of bugs because she had been attacked by an army of baby spiders when she had been little. Her father’s garage had a black cotton ball lying in the corner and when the ten-year-old WolfHeart had touched it, the spiders had climbed all over her body.

To this day, WolfHeart hated spiders or any other insects including butterflies. She did no prejudice against the colorful insect and hated it equally.

“Don’t worry, I don’t think the guardian of insects is going to be a huge insect,” Zack reassured her yet WolfHeart looked dubious.

“And how are you so sure about that?”

“Who said I was sure about it. I was just guessing it.”

“Great…” Just as the words were out of her mouth, the ground below their feet started to shake.

A huge crack appeared 30 meters away from them as WolfHeart’s heartbeat increased. If something was rising from the ground, it would definitely be a bug.

‘Calm down, this is just a game. It can’t touch your real body no matter how big or ugly it is.’ She calmed herself down using these thoughts but she was proved wrong in an instant.

“The game developers must have a man who hates insects as much as you,” Zack muttered with a grin as a woman rose from under the ground.

She had two acid-black wings coming out from her back as the rest of her body was covered in armor of the same color. She was wearing a black helmet of the same color and had her hair tucked inside it.

The slight curves of her armor were the only indication that she was a woman otherwise anyone could have mistaken her for a man.

The guardian of insects then raised her right hand as an obsidian black whip appeared in her hands.

She brought it down in the duo’s direction as it increased by thrice its original length. The black whip rushed through the air and hit the ground as the duo had already moved aside.

Adrenaline was rushing through Zack’s body as memories from his past life were flowing through his mind.

‘She is weak against the fire element but her whip can pluck my sword away. She can also use acid nature attacks and melt armor alongside bone and flesh. And the last thing…’ His eyes suddenly narrowed down as his head turned in WolfHeart’s direction.

“Throw out your helmet!” He shouted as she immediately did what Zack had instructed.

She then threw the helmet in the sky as it exploded.

‘That was close.’ Zack thought with a relieved expression as he could now see WolfHeart’s avatar’s face for the first time.

[0)ᴠᴇʟ Her eyes were pure black like coal while her skin was moon-white. But Zack knew that you could make these alterations using a custom character card so he didn’t think much about her appearance.

He was instead looking at the guardian of insects who had recalled her whip and was looking at the duo. Perhaps she was making a plan or was waiting for the duo to strike first.

And that’s what Zack had in his mind.

[ She can leave behind small bugs that would create explosions at any moment she wants. But there is a slight two-second delay there and that is why you were saved. ] He sent WolfHeart a private message as she nodded in acknowledgment.

She had given up on asking how Lin Fan knew all of these things since he would just come up with a new reply. If he told her that he was a secret beta tester who somehow managed to play the game again, she would believe him.

But she knew that wasn’t true since the game developers were very strict regarding this. They had the beta testers’ DNA taken and if they ever tried to play the game, the watch on their band would give them up.

Because of this, the beta testers were stuck with not being able to play the game. But in return, they got to play a few special quests and other things to test them out and give their reviews on that.

Not to mention that they received a huge constant sum of cash. Zack would have applied to be one but the thing had come up when he didn’t need any money and was just continuing his studies.

Unfortunately, he was in dire need of money later on.

[ What is the attack plan? It’s weird that she is standing this still for so long. Don’t tell me she is planning to throw a ton of exploding bugs at us. ] WolfHeart sent Zack another message as he shrugged.

[ There might be a possibility of that happening. However, we are going to attack before she gets the chance to do that. Use the fire arrow skill book you obtained earlier and put your hunter job class to the maximum use. ]

He replied and took out Firerager. The sword seemed to glow in the presence of the guardian as Zack had a confident smile on his face. His grip on the hilt tightened and like a man on a mission, he broke into a dash.

He currently didn’t have any flying skills but his jumping abilities were still quite good. When he was just a few meters away from the guardian, he put weight on his legs and jumped into the air.

“Arrows Of Fire!” WolfHeart used the name of her skill from behind him while Zack did the same.

“Fire tornado!”
