Hikari: Rise Of The Weapons Master

117 When The Birds Fly Away, Run Behind Them [Part 1]

“So you want Neji to meet her?” Emma asked as the duo were currently in the beast dormitories.

But instead of going to meet with Daedalus and Icarus, Zack had brought Emma to Silvie’s room. The white swan was sleeping in a grass nest while resting her head on a pillow.

“I do want to see what will happen then however, we should go to the border and check that first. I will ask Lisa to bring Neji back here later on.”

The duo then left Silvie alone before taking Daedalus and Icarus’s help.

After returning from his important job, Daedalus had refused to tell Zack and Emma about anything he had seen.

Zack could have used the power of the contract to force the eagle to tell him but instead decided to let it go.

‘So we are going beyond that weird city in the desert?’ Icarus asked while the two eagles shot towards the sky.

‘Yes, we will be going beyond Trishapat to see what is happening at the border. Try not to alert anyone once we cross the city.’

Daedalus and Icarus nodded before they shot towards the western side. The two eagles had memorized the entire Eizenburgh kingdom’s layout except for the southern part.

Even though the two eagles were quite powerful, they didn’t dare travel beyond Hethburn city.

‘This is where we go quiet?’ Daedalus asked as the group crossed over Trishapat city.

‘Yes, this is the point where we slow down.’ Zack replied as the two eagles suddenly bent down towards the ground and spread their wings.

They started gliding a few feet above the sand while Zack and Emma looked around for enemies.

‘Stop.’ Emma suddenly said as the two eagles stopped on their spots.

[ You think those are one of the tribes mentioned in the letter? ] Emma asked as the duo saw a group of people walking in the middle of the desert under the scorching sun.

All of them were dressed in estranged red robes and had various tattoos drawn on their faces.

[ Let’s go talk to them. ]

The duo stepped closer to the tribe and saw that it only consisted of fifty people. In the middle of the fifty people was an old woman with gray hair and a wrinkled face.

Her eyes moved towards Emma and Zack as she raised her hand to stop the moving tribe After the tribesmen had stopped, the woman slowly moved towards the duo.

“Who are you both?” She asked before looking up at Zack’s face.

The old woman’s height was around five feet or so. Zack was seeing such a short-height player after a long time and realized that she was probably the village chief.

“I am a noble who is here from the capital city,” Zack said while extending his right hand forward. “Who are you miss?”

“I am Majana, the only remaining elder of this tribe,” Majana then went to shake Zack’s hand but the moment their skin came in contact, Majana whipped her hand back. “Boy, who are you?”

The tribe gathered below in a circle while glaring at Zack.

“I already told you who I am.” He replied in a confused voice while asking Emma and the two eagles to be ready to fight at a moment’s notice.

“I see…,” Majana stared into Zack’s eyes before turning her head in Emma’s direction. “Then you must be Emma.”

Silence, complete silence.

Emma’s mouth was left open a little as she wondered how the Majana knew her name. She turned to look at Zack who also look surprised.

“How did you know my name?” Emma asked Majana as the old woman remained silent.

Instead, her hands moved towards her neck and she started untying something. A few seconds later, she lifted a jewel that had been tied around her neck with the help of a rope.

“Here, hold on to this.” Majana handed the stone over to Zack who hesitated to take it.

[ Yggdrasil jewel: In a lost version of the myths, it was said that a green jewel had been born when the world tree had split into two parts.

– Allows the holder to pass through the path of mirrors. ]

The only relation Zack could make with the jewel was Chastiefol which was also born when the world tree had split.

As he held the jewel, he tried to remember what the path of mirrors was. But even after thinking for a few minutes, Zack had no clue what it was.

‘Did it even exist…’ He wondered before he decided to ask Majana where did she find the jewel.

“I have been searching for a long time child. This jewel was one of the main reason’s that Night Wrath took place and it wasn’t a war restricted to the Eizenburgh kingdom or the Southern continent.

It was something much bigger than what you or any other human can imagine.” Suddenly, Majana smiled. The wrinkles on her face started fading as she grew in size.

In front of everyone gathered there, Majana turned into a six feet tall woman wearing a green dress.

Her age couldn’t be guessed from her appearance as she smiled and Zack and Emma. Her hair had turned green and so had her eyes.

The woman looked strangely familiar…

“You are the one I saw while getting Chastiefol!” Zack exclaimed as the woman nodded.

“Remember, when the birds fly away, run behind them. Because in times of disaster, animals are the first ones to run and hide.”

[0)ᴠᴇʟ After saying that, the woman’s body started fading away. Just like the first time Zack had seen the woman, his vision started blurring.

This time, he was not the only one experiencing this. All the tribesmen as well as Emma and the two eagles started feeling dizzy.

‘If I ever find someone who claims to have set these random meetings and things, I will definitely throw him from a mountain.’ Zack thought before his eyes rolled back and he crashed down on the ground.

Simultaneously, the other humans too dropped down on the ground as the woman vanished.

Now, unconscious people were lying in the middle of a desert without any protection.
