HEX: Aspect Of The Void

Chapter 91 - Convergence

The hallway seems smaller now that I walk through it again. After exiting my examination room, I returned to the Receptionist to show her the note given to me by my supervisor.

"Here, the man told me to give you this" I said to Nadia, who looked surprised by my sudden appearance.

"W-Wha-?!" She exclaimed.

"H-How are you here already? The test takes 10 minutes, doesn't it?" She asked, collecting the smooth parchment from my hand.

"Indeed" I responded calmly.

"It's not even been 3 minutes yet... Even that other guy..." She mumbled to herself.

She hurriedly read through the note of my supervisor and I could see her eyes darting all around the parchment on her hand.

Her expression reminds me of the supervisor after I completed my task.

[Moments Ago]

"H-How is this... I-Impossible!" My supervisor stuttered, staring at the pool of blood and pile of dead, butchered monster corpses.

I walked toward him, my shoes stepping on the warm red liquid as I steadily approched him.

Since all my wears have an autoclean function and stain resistance, I don't get bothered about messes like this.

"Not even up to a minute... H-How is this..."

"Supervisor... The results?" I asked him

Surely he has experienced far more bloodshed and carnage than this since he is a veteran Adventurer. But I doubt even he is capable of dealing with such a large amount of beasts in such a short period of time, that is in a single strike.

"Oh... Y-Yes. Right away" He snapped, bringing out the parchment In his pocket as he wrote his report.

Usually, test supervisors write their report as the test goes on, observing the moves and decisions of the participant. But since I finished so quickly and he wasn't even expecting much from me to begin with, he is just about to start with his report.

I glanced at what he wrote, short and precise... Just like the outcome of this test.

The report read, among a few other things:

"This candidate... Is a monster!"

He completed his report and hesitantly stretched his hand to give it to me. I did the same in order to receive the parchment, my proof of success, and leave the room which was already beginning to reek of the stench of monster flesh and blood. Suddenly, he withdrew his hands and gave me a suspicious gaze.

"K-Kid... Those things you used, they're Relics aren't they? They are incredibly powerful... I can tell. But even though they boast such might, how come I have never heard of them before?" He asked me with a stern face.

I can understand his line of thought. It is suspicious for a young adult such a myself to be with such a deadly weapon as the 'Blade Of Rupture'. After all, it originally belonged to an Imperial Knight before I killed him and changed it's name. That goes to show how powerful it is.

Not only that, but I also used ROOT in the test, to gather the stones, making that two high grade Relics currently in my possession.

Relics that boast of immense power are very popular. The higher the grade, the more people know about a Relic and its exploits. Unless, of course it is a secret Relic that is kept hidden, most powerful ones are known, especially among Adventurers. The fact that I am in possession of two very impressive Relics that aren't in any way known, is not ordinary.

What is more suspicious is that I am unknown. I do not belong to any noble family and my only affiliation is Imperius.

For someone like me, with powerful, yet unpopular items such as these, to suddenly appear to become an Adventurer is definitely not something anyone can overlook.

However... I already anticipated this much.

"I suppose it's only right you know since we will be colleague from henceforth. The truth is... I am a Dungeon conqueror" I told him with a smirk.

His eyes bulged as he heard this. He trembled at my words. Normally he would obviously doubt me, but after seeing the irrefutable evidence of my power, he conceded.

"Then, I don't need to say any more, do I?" I said to him.

"I... I understand" He muttered.

He handed over the parchment to me, and without any further delay I went my way.

Why did he withdraw his suspicions once I told him of my identity as a Dungeon Conqueror? The answer is quite simple.

A Dungeon conqueror is someone who has challenged one or more of the mysterious structures known as Dungeons.

Relics, especially powerful ones are very rare. Since they are objects of the Heavenly Realm that descended to Earth during my war with the Primordials, they are not easy to find. Adventurers stumble upon them during quests, but finding a Relic is a very rare opportunity.

But with a Dungeon it is different. Every Dungeon guarantees at least the existence of a Relic, most times more. The reason I know this is simple, the Dungeons are my creation. They are places I kept my Treasures and they are scattered all over the world.

It is every Adventurers goal to challenge and conquer a Dungeon since the rewards are very much worth it, but a lot of them fail or avoid them since the dangers involved are equally as high. Apart from the rewards, there is also the fact that anything an Adventurer finds in a Dungeon exclusively belongs to that Adventurer, without need for tax or mandatory dues.

That's why if I claim to be a Dungeon conqueror, it removes the suspicion on how I have such Relics with me, and why no one knows of it. It's simply because I chose not to reveal it. It also solves the puzzle of the origin of my Ancient Coins. I came up with his excuse during my stay in Artia since I already predicted something like this would occur here.

It's always a good thing to plan ahead.

[The Present]

"Ohhh, Mas- I mean Rio is done already? I should've known" A voice came from behind me.

It is one I recognize very well.

"Oh? Looks like you did quite well, Ana" I smiled, turning behind me to meet her gaze.

"Ah, and here I thought I would be the first" Talia's voice emerged from the hallway, her face looked disappointed when she saw Ana and I beat her to it.

"Hmmn, that's strange. Where's Shamac?" I asked, looking around.

"That guy... I'm sure he's goofing off in the test instead of hurrying up!" Talia said in slight anger, raising her fist.

No, I don't believe that. Shamac wouldn't dare slack off in situations like this. In fact, I expected him to actually be...

"Um, about that. If you're talking about your friend... He was the first to finish" Nadia suddenly interrupted.

"What?!" Talia and Ana said consecutively.

So that's how it is... I see, so Shamac actually used 'it' eh? That's good.... It looks like yet another one of my pawns is reaching my expectations.
