Hello Mr. King

Chapter 236 - The Hidden Worries Behind

Chapter 236: The Hidden Worries Behind

“Heavens, Xiangxiang. You have X-ray sight, don’t you? That super rare jadeite just came out of nowhere,” Wei Shanshan rushed to the old town after she was done with filming. She had the day off tomorrow.

“You’ll see me gambling on stones all the time if I really have that,” Yun Xiangxiang rolled her eyes. She was observing this piece of black stone.

Without any light shining upon it, the black jadeite looked lustrously beautiful. It was cool and comfortable to the touch. When the light shone on it, the stone would change into a bright, translucent shade of green. It was marvelous.

“It’s so pretty,” Wei Shanshan huddled closer. This was her first time coming in close contact with jade and experiencing its seduction. “I think I know how those jade connoisseurs feel now. Some things are really just to die for.”

Yun Xiangxiang tilted her head to look at Wei Shanshan, “If you don’t mind, I can use its edge to make a pair of stud earrings for you.”

“Would I mind?” Wei Shanshan was shocked. “I would if I’m stupid. Even if it’s just a pair of studs, it’s still priceless! I can keep it as a family heirloom!”

Wei Shanshan only realized what Yun Xiangxiang was thinking after she said that out loud. “Xiangxiang, you want to cut it down to pieces?”

“What should I do if not that?” Yun Xiangxiang looked at her as if she was an imbecile. “What use do I have for it except for cutting it down and turning it into jewelry?”

“For some reason, my heart pains when I think about it getting cut,” Wei Shanshan clutched her chest.

“All jadeites are used to create jewelries,” Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t understand why Wei Shanshan would think that way. “No matter how valuable something is, I think that is reflected in its usage, not by its collection value.”

To Yun Xiangxiang, nothing could be kept perfect for eternity. Sooner or later, it would decay. If it was inevitable anyway, she shouldn’t just let it lay there unused.

Before finding out about the gorgeous black jadeite, she only had eyes for purple jadeite as a gift for Song Mian.

But now she felt that this jadeite suited her boyfriend better. It was low-key, elegant, and cultured. Just like her boyfriend.

When she thought of how Song Mian would look when he wore this piece of jadeite, Yun Xiangxiang smiled lovingly.

“Are you thinking of someone? You’re smiling so dreamily,” Wei Shanshan asked enviously.

“Knowing it will just hurt a bachelorette like you,” Yun Xiangxiang stowed her smile away and arched an eyebrow at her smugly.

“Hey, that hurts me more than telling it in my face!” Wei Shanshan was irritated.

Yun Xiangxiang’s phone rang. Her father called her. Yun Xiangxiang picked up her phone, “Hey, Dad.”

“What did you do this time? My phone’s been ringing non-stop,” said Yun Zhibin resignedly.

“En?” Yun Xiangxiang had a blank look.

“Folks have been calling me and asking if I’m your father. They tell me they want to buy the black jadeite in your hands, and the price is negotiable. One billion yuan is nothing to them!” Yun Zhibin almost had a heart attack when he heard that.

One billion yuan. I have never even heard of this amount in my life!

Yun Zhibin didn’t have any social media accounts. He didn’t create one even when Yun Xiangxiang became an actress. He was uninterested in the cyberworld.

Su Xiuling knew how to fiddle with it though. But she was already sound asleep along with their son at this hour. Because of that, Yun Zhibin was out of the loop.

Like Yun Xiangxiang, Yun Zhibin was also a total amateur when it came to jades. He didn’t know what black jadeites were, nor did he have the time to search it online with the incessant calls coming in. He could only take some time to ask his daughter.

“Oh, well, I came to Tengchong City for a show’s recording, and this place has some stone gambling going on. Since Sister Qiluo and the others wanted to play, each of us picked one. And I coincidentally ended up with this black jadeite…”

As she explained, Yun Xiangxiang took Wei Shanshan’s phone to check the story online. The news of her getting a piece of black jadeite was dominating all the headlines.

As Song Meng had night classes today, she didn’t know about the bombshell that happened.

Yun Xiangxiang’s frown became deeper as she went through the stories. She was taken aback by how quickly the story spread, and how conspicuous the reports were.

Unbeknownst to her, this was already the result of He Wei trying his best to keep it down. The story would burn even wilder otherwise.

“Xiangxiang, you must get this jadeite off your hands,” Yun Zhibin panicked. “We don’t have the right to possess this.”

A common man’s wealth is the cause of his own ruination.

“I will think of something, dad,” Yun Xiangxiang understood Yun Zhibin’s concerns.

“Also, never dabble in stone gambling,” Yun Zhibin reminded.

Profit for nothing is of course something people dream of. It is easy to drown in it as it followed the rules of gambling.

The gamblers would want to keep on winning after tasting their first victory. The losers would cling on to their past victories and hope to gain back what they have lost. They would end up throwing their soul into it and becoming the dregs of society.

Yun Zhibin despised people who refused to improve and spend their wealth aimlessly even if they did have billions in assets.

Yun Xiangxiang managed to get a top-tier jade the first time she gambled. This wasn’t just a simple sweet. It was endless nectar.

Enough to make anyone stick to it and bury themselves inside.

“Dad, I won’t get addicted to this. I’m not interested in gambling,” said Yun Xiangxiang earnestly.

Of course, she loved mahjong but that was her pastime. Her hobby.

Other than that, she despised any gambling games.

She didn’t think she could get rich by stone gambling just because she lucked out with one black jadeite. She would get into trouble eventually if she did that.

Abusing her own luck would shave a few years off her lifespan.

Compared to money, she loved her life more.

Yun Zhibin kept on reminding her about many things, during which another line was coming in. She waited until the notification had rung a few times before saying, “Dad, Brother Wei has been calling me for a while now.”

Yun Zhibin ended the call. Yun Xiangxiang let He Wei’s call come through. “Sorry, Brother Wei. My dad gave me a call just now.”

The anti-harassment app Song Mian installed for her blocked every call from unfamiliar numbers. A surge in calls from unfamiliar numbers was out of normal range. The app would automatically block any calls from numbers not in the contacts.

Thanks to that, Yun Xiangxiang had a quiet day, but not for He Wei and Yun Zhibin. Huan Yu’s customer service was also overwhelmed by all the calls.

“You have to get that stone off your hands, fast,” He Wei sounded like he was irritated.

“Got it, Brother Wei,” Yun Xiangxiang agreed. “I’ll settle this perfectly. Don’t worry.”

He Wei believed in Yun Xiangxiang’s skills and let her off quickly so that she could settle the matter.

Yun Xiangxiang gave a call to Austin. He said excitedly, “Oh, Yun. I saw the news. You have a piece of rare jade on your hands.”

MonRoe also had stores in China. Earth-shattering news like that would be made known to the HQ in the first instance.

Especially when the one who had it was Yun Xiangxiang, their worldwide ambassador for all their product lines.

“Mr. Austin, I have a proposal for you,” Yun Xiangxiang smirked.
