Hello Mr. King

Chapter 230 - I Grew Up Watching Your Shows

Chapter 230: I Grew Up Watching Your Shows

With the Clouds joining in, Wei Shanshan’s fans immediately realized the severity of their actions. Some who reacted apologized profusely.

Them apologizing made the crew of “Overseer” and Brilliant Entertainment’s top management feel guilty.

Wei Shanshan was the victim in this mess. Nobody could blame her for refusing to keep quiet.

They did feel that Wei Shanshan was being too rash, but she was in her early twenties after all. Even so, after being backstabbed, she didn’t name the culprit.

She even consoled her fans who were overreacting, and even asked those who did wrong to apologize. That alone was already miles better than the actors who pressured the company using their fans.

She was someone who handled matters professionally. She would own up to her mistakes, but she wouldn’t take any accusations lying down.

The crew and the management who were complaining started becoming supportive of her.

During the company’s meeting, the management even agreed to fire the culprit even if that meant they had to invest more.

When this selfless act was done before the eyes of the fans, naturally they had to post a statement about how they carried out justice.

Establishing a positive image in the public eyes would work well for the company’s growth. It would help attract new blood.

When they announced it, not only were Wei Shanshan’s fans satisfied, but even those who didn’t pay too much attention to the industry gained some respect for the company. They believed that a company this meticulous would produce at least decent work.

They were now anticipating the release of “Overseer.” In a way, it promoted the drama.

“Thank you, Xiangxiang,” Wei Shanshan shuddered when she thought of what could have happened.

Her first course of action after she had the recording was to expose how disgusting the culprit was. If Yun Xiangxiang didn’t remind her, it would have been a different story.

If she didn’t lock on to her target and managed to collect the evidence, the culprit would have gotten what they wanted. If the public did label her as caustic and bullied her, that would be her end.

The crew would adjust the frequency of her appearance based on her value’s fluctuations. If “Overseer” was aired under these conditions and flopped, she would probably take all the blame.

That would destroy all her effort over the past two years or so. The company would probably shelve her for some time.

That was why she was furious when she got the evidence. It took all she had to not beat the culprit senseless.

Her agent kept telling her to take the attacks and leave the matter to the company. All for the big picture, her agent said.

The big picture can go to hell. I was backstabbed here, but I have to belittle myself and bear with it. How is this fair?

She couldn’t take this. Even if she won anything, she wouldn’t be happy about it.

Thus she uploaded the recording to Weibo without hesitation. She could still remember how ashen her agent looked back then.

She was fearless when she posted it. She was the victim after all.

When the producer and the GM called her to chastise her, she was defiant.

Thanks to that, she let her fans do what they wanted, and that only escalated the situation.

The only thought running in her head was: How can a villain do everything they want without impunity, but I have to take all the scolding even though I am the victim?

How sick and inhumane can this society be?

It wasn’t until Yun Xiangxiang stood up and Song Meng helped turn the tide that Wei Shanshan came to understand that her way of demanding justice was wrong.

Even though she might have been able to take down the culprit, she would also hurt herself in the process.

She wasn’t just Wei Shanshan. She was also the female lead for “Overseer,” and the actress who was greatly supported by Brilliant Entertainment.

Taking some hits might wrong her. But it was also keeping her duty to the crew and the company who stood behind her.

“You should really look before you leap.” This was the second time Yun Xiangxiang reminded her. “You’re really dumb if you hurt yourself while taking them down.”

Wei Shanshan felt frustrated when she was scolded by her GM, her producer, and her agent. But when Yun Xiangxiang did it, she felt warm. “En, I am dumb.”

“If there’s a next time and you don’t know what you should do, talk to me before you do anything,” Yun Xiangxiang was worried about her.

She was lucky she found out before it blew up. Due to that, she was able to turn the crisis into an opportunity.

“I promise you I won’t do things alone from now on,” Wei Shanshan was terrified. She nearly ended her career by herself.

“Also, your agent wasn’t neglecting you. He would gain nothing from it. He might have things that he wants, but he would never push you down the cliff. You should listen to him more,” Yun Xiangxiang saw Wei Shanshan’s agent before. He didn’t seem like a bad guy.

“Okay, okay, I got it,” Wei Shanshan agreed. She then suddenly said, “Are you coming over to Tenchong City for a show’s recording? I just saw the notification.”

“You’re in Tengchong now?” The show’s crew were already preparing for the recording. Normally, such news would only be known to the locals.

“Yeah, I forgot to tell you that I’m filming in Tengchong right now. Their jungles and waterfalls are just gorgeous. And all the flowers are in full bloom,” Wei Shanshan was excited. “Come visit me, I miss you so much.”

“I’ll be going for a two-day trip there. Why don’t you take a day off? The crew would be there too,” said Yun Xiangxiang.

“Sure, sure. The company’s feeling guilty toward me. I should have no problem asking for a day off,” Wei Shanshan accepted her invitation. “And I have never seen Emperor Lu. I love him so much!”

“I can see why you get along with Song Meng so well,” Song Meng paid attention to anything concerning Wei Shanshan because they have kept in touch since the filming of “Caring Love” in Yun Xiangxiang’s high school days.

“We vibe well together,” Wei Shanshan liked Song Meng. They were the same type of people, and wouldn’t hold anything back during chatting.

“Partners in crime, you mean. New dramas mean new husbandos,” Yun Xiangxiang quoted Song Meng when she described Wei Shanshan.

“We are just pursuers of love,” Wei Shanshan corrected.

“Okay, okay, stop it. Remember to control that rage of yours and concentrate on filming. Wait for me in Tengchong,” Yun Xiangxiang ended the call.

It was all because Song Mian was calling.

After chatting with Song Mian, she went to wash herself up before going to sleep.

Wu Zhao would sponsor the flight to Tengchong. She only needed to provide her ID.

Her flight to Tenchong was on the sixteenth. She needed to meet up with them earlier to know about the content and anything related to the recording.

Yun Xiangxiang was the last to arrive. Wu Zhao didn’t come. They met up at night and were treated to dinner by the program team.

To Yun Xiangxiang’s surprise, Wei Shanshan came to see her right after she finished filming for the day. She even said she would stay in the same hotel with her.

She was even more surprised at how excited Wei Shanshan was when she saw Lu Jin. She grabbed his hand and refused to let go. She blushed as she gushed, “Emperor Lu, I am a big fan. I love your shows. I grew up watching them!”

Yun Xiangxiang was at a loss for words.
