Chapter 118: C-rank

Chapter 118: C-rank

The day after we defeated the bottom floor boss with Kiel, Kiel asked to join our party. It seems that the three Gold coins in the Silver chest was the deciding factor.

Later that day, we went to the Adventurer’s Guild and Kiel joined the “Abandoned Gamers”.

“Kiel has joined your party.”

The Grimoire firmly showed that Kiel had joined the party. And thanks to that, I could now see Kiel’s status.

Kiel, whose family name was not displayed, was not a Noble. Since he was not a Noble, he had no business going to the battlefield. However, we were able to get a Priest as a party member within a month of coming to the Academy, which was great. We have a lot of time, so I’m going to take my time and let him know how good the “Abandoned Gamers” is.

One of the best things about Kiel was that his goal was money. If he just wanted to complete the summer vacation project to conquer one dungeon, our relationship would have ended when his goal was achieved.

As he joined our party, I offered two things to Kiel.

He refused to live on the base. He just said he couldn’t do that, and I didn’t ask further.

He told me that he would be happy to participate in the matter of defeating the bottom floor boss of the C-class dungeon. Since Kiel has only conquered one C-class dungeon, he can only challenge the bottom floor boss of one dungeon. However, he said that was fine.

If Kiel earns at least 20 Silver coins every day, and has the occasional day with a Silver chest and a few Gold coins, he can have lunch at least.

Also, when we went to the Adventurer’s Guild, we were told that in order to enter a B-class dungeon, all the participants who would be going into the dungeon needed to have a C-rank adventurer card. Only a single member being a C-rank adventurer is apparently not enough.

Kurena, Cecile, Dogora, and I have conquered three C-class dungeons but Kiel hasn’t. When Kiel also conquers three C-class dungeons we will be able to enter B-class dungeons.

We all discussed and decided that we would wait for Kiel and reach C-rank together as a party.

In early June, two months after the start of the Academy, my wish finally came true during the Academy holiday. It was late at night on the second day of the break, when the Academy classes would start tomorrow.

I was alone in my room on the second floor of the base, looking at my Grimoire and smiling.

As for the room assignments at the base, Dogora and I have our own rooms on the second floor of the base, while Kurena and Cecile have theirs on the third floor.

“The skill experience of <Synthesis> is now 10000000/1000000000. <Synthesis> is now Level 6. <Summon> is now Level 6. Grimoire Expansion is now Level 5. New skill <Awakening> has been acquired.”

-1 year old, acquired Grimoire, <Summon> Level 1, can summon H-rank

-1 year and 10 months old, <Summon> Level 2, acquired <Synthesis> skill, can summon G-rank

-3 years old, summoned G-rank (after having enough mana)

-5 years and 11 months old, <Summon> Level 3, acquired <Strengthening> skill, can summon F-rank

-7 years and 9 months, <Summon> Level 4, <Inventory> skill acquired, can summon E-rank

-9 years and 10 months, <Summon> Level 5, <Sharing> skill acquired, can summon D-rank

– 12 years old and 9 months, <Summon> Level 6, <Awakening> skill acquired, can summon C-rank

(It’s been 2 years and 11 months since my last <Summon> level raise.)

I record my level up time in the Grimoire.

I have several goals for the three years of my Academy life. One of them is to raise my <Summon> level to 7 and be able to summon B-rank summons.

According to the magic teacher, there are A-rank magical beasts rumbling around in the Demon King’s army. With my past experience, I can defeat a magical beast 1 rank higher than my summons with ease, but if it is 2 ranks higher than my summons’ rank, it would be a very close fight and I’ll have to consume a lot of magic stones.

(Thanks to this, I’ve spent most of my money on C-rank magic stones. I’m hoping to start collecting and requesting magic stones again from next month.)

I used everything I had left, including a few dozen Gold coins and about 1,000 C-rank magic stones, and thanks to that I was able to raise <Summon> to Level 6. Since I had no more Gold coins and magic stones remaining, I ended my request of magic stones from the Adventurer’s Guild.

I check the Grimoire skills and summons page.

(Okay, so <Summon> is now Level 6. One more summon species, one new skill and one more Grimoire function.)

I will examine one thing at a time.

I turn the page further and check the number of cards my Holder can hold.

(There are 10 empty places, so I can now store 60 cards total.)

Each time my <Summon>’s level goes up, the number of cards I can hold increases by 10.

(I still have to check the new C-rank summons and the <Awakening> skill I’ve always wanted. I’ve finally got a skill that levels up.)

Since the <Strengthening> skill, I have acquired <Inventory> and <Sharing> which are very useful, but they don’t level up. They have fixed effects, but this time, <Awakening> has a skill experience column.

I look forward to seeing how these skills work.

The first thing I decided to do was to find out what C-rank summons were, using <Create> and <Synthesis>. 1,000 C-rank magic stones would tell me everything I want to know.

I even synthesized the Fish that was unlocked.

(The name should be like this, too. Anyway, their status is getting much higher.)

I gave them their names based on what they made me feel instinctively. Their status is up to 500, and if I use <Strengthening>, they may reach 1000. I can summon up to 60 of them at the same time.

And because of their blessings, my status will increase by a total of 6000.

(Now, let’s check [-] )

I then tried to summon [-] using various combinations. When I synthesized C-rank Fish with C-rank Bird, the Grimoire shone brightly. It appears that the <Synthesis> was successful.

“Oh! Spirit! Is it a spirit-based summon?”

The summon’s card, labeled “C-rank Spirit,” looked like a French doll.
