After Ron's phrase, I couldn't help but smile.

"You just need to learn more," I shrugged.

"You're learning all the time," Ron replied dejectedly, and Harry nodded in agreement.

"Well, of course," Hermione grinned again. "We have at our disposal: some of the most qualified teachers in their field; seven years of access to the most complete magical library in England and Western Europe; free medical care; food such as is required to fulfill the daily schedule, no matter how difficult it may be. And all this for ridiculous money, and if there are three or more children in the family — for free!"

"For free?" In chorus asked all the Weasleys around, among whom at some distance sat Ginny, like many others listening to our conversation. After all, when the older ones approach the younger ones and start a conversation, it always arouses a slight interest.

"Well, yes," Hermione shrugged. "Muggle-borns are provided with an interest-free loan in the amount of eighty percent of the cost of learning for the full program, or a twenty percent discount on the learning itself."

"Hmm..." then I thought about it. "I didn't know."

"Didn't your parents tell you? Usually, professors or employees of the ministry discuss these points. Most likely, you were paid for in full. The amount is ridiculous. In the ordinary world, just a good school costs the same or more."

"And how do you know everything?" Harry looked from me to Hermione.

"We read smart books," we answered at the same time and, having exchanged glances, smiled.

Behind our backs, the cheerful Lavender enjoyed the role of a kind of mother goose and led a bunch of enthusiastic first years back to the tower because, according to an incomprehensible tradition, we learned the schedule only now, at breakfast. Without wasting any more time, I gulped down a glass of apple juice, and together with Hermione, we joined the stream of students scattering from the Hall.

The first lesson was a lecture by Beans, where I was doing a much more important thing — calculating a new spell. The lecture itself will be remembered by the brains, but the idea… My cockroaches in my head are scratching on the skull in fits from an acute desire to carry out what they have planned, not in the form of strong-willed magic, but as a well-thought-out spell. In general, I want a laser spell. There is no such thing — I was looking for it. However, due to the fact that I want to fully implement the physical principles, without replacing some properties of materials or energy with the standard "magic, I don't know what it is, but I want the same," I have to mobilize all the knowledge about lasers, materials, crystals, alloys, electricity and a bunch of other information, designing a laser circuit. Of course, it's possible just to buy the appropriate literature, but this is my new hobby, and it is necessary not so much to create a superweapon but to train the mind and concentrate on complex calculations with the help of Rowena's capabilities, but without her participation. From a practical point of view, I'm "reinventing the wheel," but I like the process of mental training itself. I'm not a genius, and I don't know everything in the world to design something brilliant in a couple of minutes.

After the History of Magic, where Professor Beans, or rather his ghost, always told us in a monotonous mumbling tone about the wars with the giants, we went to Potions. Everything went according to the classical scheme there. Snape told us that only talented or persistent students will attend the extended course from the sixth to the seventh years inclusive and told us that all year we will brew complex potions that are asked on O.W.L.s. Malfoy, by the way, did not get nervous at the sight of me and did not give out any snide remarks, and when he clearly wanted to say something and saw Hermione's predatory smile, which was standing in a relaxed pose next to me, somehow turned pale from his face and shuddered.

There were all the same students on the Ancient Runes as in previous years, namely: me, Hermione, Daphne, and Anthony. The topic was "the use of runes as fixing, strengthening or changing agents when using spells in the creation of artifacts." The topic is large, extensive, and will be studied throughout the semester. Anthony, as before, did not care about us in general, but he greeted us with joy and even asked how are we doing out of politeness. Daphne continued to turn her nose up, cherishing the old resentment, but every now and then, she looked as if she expected some kind of trick from me. Well, yes, she easily and often communicated with Hermione on the topic of classes in particular and about runes in general.

We arrived at the lesson on DADA without delay. Professor Umbridge was already sitting at the teacher's table, and this time she was not wearing a pink suit but a fluffy pink blouse, and she had an equally pink beret on her head. As soon as they entered the classroom, the students quietly and calmly took their seats, laid out their accessories, and tried not to attract the attention of the new professor — it is unknown what kind of feint she will give out.. Having settled down with Hermione on the first desk in the middle row, we began to wait for the lesson to begin.
